As soon as you encounter the first ghouls with Vesemir, the pop-up tutorial says that the health bars are color-coded; silver for monsters. Everyone skips those pop-ups though, because they think "I know what's going on. I know what I'm doing." Haha.
They also skip cutscenes too, because Geralt tells 2 bandits at a tavern why he had 2 swords. One for humans, one for non humans.
@@Kevin-zz9du Almost. One sword for humans and non-humans, one for monsters. Technically Geralt is non-human, and you'd use a steel sword to fight a Wither.
Mike Stocks nah I’d use a enchanted diamond sword. 🙃

Tbh I wished I would've watched more tip videos before playing. My skills build is so trash lol. I went super aggressive with it because I'm more of a hack and slash guy..

Its literally the most annoying feature, always while blocking i somehow change the signs and then when i cast it im like : "wait, thats not igni, why aaxi !?"

So for the fist fights, one thing I like doing is attacking when the opponent comes close at a certain distance and then repeat lmao. Easy win yay!

torches - like igni sign can actually ignite poison gas clouds so careful with that - or use aard sign to disperse the cloud for short while first.
I was a living ping pong ball in the cave for griffin armor... a terrible experience
@@evankam28 u mean the ekimmara fight for the first griffin armor schematic? im more ursine gear person for which i had to wait until skellige. still griffin armor vampire fight was very fun for me.

there is the devil puff ball that has poisonous gas you can ignite that as well.

I think Aard also works for the smoke in the burning barn in crows perch.
So your saying I cleared the entire skellige isles without realizing I could use the crossbow while steering the boat...
I played thru b4 i realized you can use that horn i found to knock the sirens out of the air. I forgot where i found the horn. It was just laying around somewhere

500 hours on Witcher 3 (GoG & Steam) and I had no idea about the controller block/change signs. I've gotten so quick at opening that menu and switching between Quen and others... I feel like an idiot now lol.
5 hours of the witcher and I had no idea too! 😳 Good thing I checked this early 🤪
You don’t need to be quick at opening menus even. Since it’s all in slow motion either way

Press the "Jump" button when falling form high can save your life, Geralt roll when he lands and nullifies the fall damage
If you don’t want to use cat or a torch, use the magic lamp Keira gives you for light in the Towerful of Mice quest. You always have it as a back up and I don’t think it ignites gas☺️
But you can’t sprint with it
Thank you for this. Im currently level 26 on my first play through, can confirm that these tips are immensely helpful.
About the Gwent tip, burning all your spy cards on the first turn is NOT advisable IF your opponent has a deck with tons of resurrection cards in it (like the Nilfgardian deck). This means that all the spies you "gave" to your opponent can be used against you on the second or third turns. It's better to wait it out till the final round, try and get your opponent to use up their decoy cards while you're at it, then make the final push with the extra cards you gain in exchange for your spies.
Glad you added the Sign Switch While Defending tip. The game felt so much more enjoyable and the fights so badass after I learned that tip to help streamline the action. It’s definitely one that should have been in the real game tutorial, as well as the torch tip(so many players getting lost in caves... Oh well 🤷♂️☠️🤣)
Great tips! I'm not a new player and yet I did not know you could use the crossbow while still at the helm of a boat! And the quick way to change spells while in combat, gosh I really wish I knew that 100 levels ago!

I know i said it in the first tips video but, when you jump or fall of a cliff or a high place, if you keep tapping the jump button when you fall, he will do a roll animation and you wont take any fall damage.
you forgot your surplus mutagens do not carry over into NG+ So all that stuff you've saved up, and could convert into other mutagen colours. All gone in NG+ So, if you played through the game and blood and wine. Everyone knows that red mutagens are pretty much the rarest things in the base game, until you get back to blood and wine expansion. So make damn sure before you get into your NG+ that you've unlocked those bonus slots in the mutagen tree so you can add more abilities before you get into a NG+. Or else you're going to wait a loonnnnnng while before you unlock those 2 or 3 extra slots in the mutagen tree.
You could sidestep that issue and pick as many herbs from your house in Beauclair, the ones that help with changing the colour of your mutagens. This helped me change my abundance of green mutganes to red if needed

Been playing 60 something hours. Still have no idea what adrenaline points do 😂
extra damage on your sword attacks mostly. first ability i always get is rage management in the yellow tree. allows adren points to be used instead os stamina for signs.very powerful
It allows you to do more damage with swords. If you mostly use basic fast attack and basic strong attack it might feel a bit useless. Some use it for high critical hit damage.
others use it with a charecter skill in general for rage rage management that allows you to use adrenaline points for signs if you are low on stamina.
My highest attack damage was 80000. I would never dream of trying the 269k that is the highest legetimate score without a mod or the Dubble acquired tolerance glitch that someone did 310k. I'm a simple detoctions person and potions just annoy me.
I put around 100 hours and never really bothered with the increased adrenaline points. Aside from the early game you're never really underpowered, especially if you use the Cat school buff that ups your attack with every piece of feline armor.
@@breedlove94 i felt the same way but eventually used some adrenaline points for the fast spin attack and for the undying perk. They can both be very useful in thw right situation.

I'm using a Xbox controller on my PC and I was wondering how to switch my sings on the fly without having to pull out radial menu. Thanks for sharing this tip! :D
while you block, tap right or left on the dpad to switch between signs. Honestly, it's better to just tap the wheel (so the game pauses) and select the sign and go from there. If you're holding the LB on the controller time just slows down, so you can still get hit. If you tap, time stops. I've never done the hold block and then just hit the dpad to switch, because enemies can still attack you and that is not optimal when you're surrounded by enemies.

I've just started playing The Witcher 3 and am fairly new to it all and have felt a bit overwhelmed at times.
if you go 5 levels past a quest it will grey out and youl get practically no xp for it

This is a good one going through this right now and it’s a damn bug quest too, rescuing fucking dandelion it’s like 1xp per quest update. Lol
If you're familiar with the aerondight sword, using a heavy attack gives two charges instead of just one.
Dont forget to get your 1K back from the Captain that takes you to Skellige.. hes dead behind a rowboat on the shore.. easy to miss.
All fist fights can be won simply by continuously pressing the heavy attack. You may take a shot or 2 at the beginning of the fight but just spam press the heavy attack and you will win. At level 10 i can beat any lvl 30 or skull enemies no problem. They might block alot of your hits but eventually you will win. Works everytime.... on ps4 anyway.

Great tips. Just I want to include that : you can travel fast with bolt . Just you have to be in position to drive and open the map , then click on any green anchor

Thank god I've only played a couple days. I stopped and started the much needed video search....now I think I'm ready to start over and do this the right way, lol. This game looks so amazing, and I'm fortunate to have a great rig, which it deserves. While watching this I have the HD mod downloading too. 13th century Ginzu mode! here we go!
For harder difficulties like blood and broken bones/deathmarch, you really want to learn proper parrying. Enemies will simply demolish you if you arent in constant move.
yeah most will ohko you unless you're running a vitality alchemy build.

You're probably gonna grow as a channel soon by a lot. You were in my feed randomly so If you make videos consistantly you're gonna get picked up by the algorithm. I recommend following up on the strongest newvegas firearms series because it's the only video series that auto plays without interjecting other Bethesda game videos. But if you just keep being you you're gonna keep going great I can feel it... lol i only have experience in this from anecdotal evidence so you know better, I'm just offering my perspective and how I see it. I'm happy to have found your channel. I'm enjoying it a ton
If you're on the island Faroe in Skellige and the weather is horrible, you can go to a Hemdal shrine and if you climb up, you can pray for clearer skies. Your "prayer" will have been heard, and in a minute the wind will die down and the rain will stop.
I don’t mess with blocking or parrying. Just smash heavy attack on fists of fury, lock on, work him towards a wall / corner, whatever. 100% ftw
On the subject of encumbrance, Fiend decoction adds 20 to maximum carry weight for 30 minutes. Can be very useful during loot scavenging.
The thing about witcher 3 is that when you play it the first tym,due to the consequences of your decision you are always worried what is going to happen, which does not allow you to enjoy the game wholeheartedly. When compared to Odyssey(which are very similar) you anjoy it, i yelled a lot when slayed the minatour and really enjoyed the side missions too much.
When I first picked Witcher 3 up my coworker told me to read every tutorial I could, boy did that go right over my head when I was trying to use my steel sword on a monster lmaoooo
ANOTHER TIP FOR OVER ENCOMBURED you can fight normally while over-encumbered. with that being said if you draw your sword attack then continuously roll you can move fairly quickly if you have too
another tip: if you're going grandmaster its not recommended to switch swords because you'll loose the 6 item set bonus ( unless you have a much better sword that fits your style ) in the previous video i mentioned i used full griffin so the 6 item bonus on that case is indispensable.
I typically just run 3 gryphon pieces (swords +Boots) for the first bonus then the rest for aesthetic; whether it be the wolf/bear/maticore gear which is all clean AF
You can max out the foods' vitality regeneration by equipping "Gourmet" skill that allows you to regenerate health for 20 minutes straight.
Well, I did not know about not being able to do heavy attacks while holding torch, nor about using the crossbow at the helm of a boat, so thanks for the info.

You could've added that Witcher armor is better than most sets. Don't just look at damage and protection values but also at the bonuses some armor pieces give you.
armor is pretty useless on DM anyways. The massive damage/sign bonuses and the set bonuses mean 1000% more than the protection assigned to the armor. Especially with Cat/Griffin/Bear skill perks which can give you an addition 30% to each.
Just started playing about a month and a half ago. The Moonblade is said to be an early game weapon but I found a silver Moon blade with attack power of 312.

Use parry against humans and dodge against monsters.

Always repair armor/ weapons at blacksmith/armorer. Reapair kits handy on the fly but expensive. Save them for when you need them.
3:40 keyboard users have the advantage of mapping 1-5 for signs to select specifically for casting
2:25 GUESS? If you need to guess which enemy is a monster and which a human, congrars, you are playing without both video and audio. ULTIMATE challenge
For fist fights literally all you need to do is spam Triangle endlessly and you will win no matter what regardless of how under leveled you are in comparison to the opponent. I haven’t lost a single fight since I discovered that trick.
I stand by the "side-step the moment your enemy attacks, hit them twice. Repeat" stratagem. Oh, and the "convert Adrenaline to vitality" ability is pretty much god-mode for fist fights.
@@Pchlster I do the "wait for the enemy to attack, hit them before they hit you and immediately dodge". Rinse and repeat. Can't fail no matter what lvl opponent you play against if you time it right. And yeah, Undying is op. If you happen to fuck up you just get the hp back.
@@Pchlster I used to do it that way and compared to the parrying trick mentioned in the video, it's far worse. Just parry. You'll thank me later.

On gwent you can use the decoy on a healer and bring back 2 cards...put down heals, select a card..use decoy and pull heals...use heals again and select another. Im not sure if this is worse than taking back spy

Some more first thing to do in toussant is visit corvo bianco I visited after finishing the main quest and regretted it. It's not just a house it's more. Finish professor quest early. And get aerondite early too.

Something I think just a few know. To maximize the amount of money you get from loot like weapons and armor, sell them to blacksmith or an armorer. They will give you more money for this kind of loot.

7:57 you can also punch at the air and start dodging for quicker stuffs (to reach the next corpse for looting for example)

@@donv3179 yen. Triss used Geralt to get in his pants aka have secs with him. She also blatantly admits it. While Yen is bound by a wish that Geralt made that tied them together and she actually does love him but the wish keeps intervening. In SPOILERS
Last Wish quest you fight a Djinn and remove the wish. Romance her all the time and it seems happier then being with Triss who has more “fun” then being happy

60 hours and i dont know how to block yet, i just dodge (like in Dark Souls, Bloodborne, etc).
Hold Right Click on PC - works mostly on humans and nonhumans, who use weapons like you. If you tap right click right before they hit you, you parry

Random logs can contain coin. Second time around I stumbled across at least 3, I hadn't expected that. One log contained florens* and orens*
Literally stumbled on. You only find them if you're meandering through the woods on foot. The first time I found it, I was confused “Loot? Loot what? Oh! Coin!” The last time I found one, I passed by a log and thought “what the hell, I’ll check. It probably won’t contain anything though…oh! Coin! *loot* *loot again when finding a second stash in the same log*
hollow logs and hollow tree stumps. Forgot to mention that.
The "which sword to use" is shown in a tutorial once you fight your first drowner, but it might be that they added this in a latewr patch, which would be cool

If you have the heart of stone expansion you can actually do ALL of the quest with out even playing the base game in a NG+ (it’s suicide but it’s there to do) so what I would suggest is one you get hattori as a mast sword smith (he’s probably the only one that has a lot of money early on) sell him all of you loot that you stashed from you first play through and then go to the runewrigh and get your swords decked out.
Be sure to get you legendary superior stomper amd sword set first as they are a lot stronger than even the bast grandmaster set you’d get from completing blood and wine….unfortunately blood and wine cst. Be started till you complete the base game (I think it’s because it takes place in an entire different region that’s not accessible in the base game unlike hearts of stone).

Visit the blacksmith at Kaer Trolde (skellige) has the best saddle and bags Ive ever found. Don't think it's random either.
Best tips as you enter a monster fight. Oil your blade. and Quen is my best friend.
I go as far using only Quen stones in my armor.
Vs human with shield try axii. Too easy.
Buy stone diagrams for mid and upper level early.

Enchanting in this game is a bit not worth it except for the enchantment levity and severance which works great for aerondight I never used but I've seen other people do it
You can fast travel with boat to docks anytime. My bad i didnt know that back in Skellige :D

Sell swords and weapons to swordsmiths, armor to armorsmiths and random item or junk to any trader.

I want to share something i discover, not really a tip but something cool. When you are helping the baron with the botchling, instead of letting the baron reach his home with the botchling, let the botchling convert into the necro thing. Once you pass that part, and continue playing the game nothing will change. But if you return to where the baron dug out his daughter, youll see the botchling laying on the ground. Kinda sad, cool, and creepy at the same time.
One major thing that was game breaking for me that I wish I knew on my first playthrough... PRESS AND HOLD "E" to acquire ability points from place of power. I ONLY tapped "E" and thought that counted. Only long after the main story, I realized I had none of them, many of which you can't go back to.
iirc theres only like 2-3 that you cant go back to bc they're in story locked locations
Use your ability point to level the amount you can’t carry for loot also swap those abilities as needed. One of the things I didn’t do the first time was manage my skill tree I put all my skills points in signs 😂 but my second play through I kid more attention to the overall skill tree and signs is the least thing I upgraded (well the ones I don’t really use like axii) but yeah there a skill you can unlock for drastically increasing the amount off loot you can carry on you before it too heavy ASLO add the fiend decoction that increases the amount by a further 20 and you get up to 260 pounds you can carry. And stash EVERYTHING, my first play through I was so poor my second play through I was crafting master crafting armour and sword I didn’t even need had an over a dundance of money.
New player here. I can't fast travel when I've got excess weight. Gotta go on my horse to a vendor and get rid of stuff. Then I can run and fast travel again. I assume this is intended mechanics

In my original 2015 version, when using a torch, and being forced into combat, Geralt draws his sword, and the torch disappears, leaving me fighting in the dark, but it doesn't prevent me from using heavy attacks, at least in my ps4 version
Many of these (changing signs while parrying, health bar showing what sword to use) are stated in loading screens so I'm a bit confused by how you guys have missed these.
No one looks at those tips

Fist fights, I just dodge first attack then keep tapping strong attack, can't be parried so the fighter keeps trying to attack and you hit him first everyone so easy win. Except the troll and bear obviously lol

I'am my 3rd play through and some how on my 1st new + I still had all my gwent cards don't know it happened,it just did.
Ha! "And white is for silver!" How did I miss this? Super helpful when you're minding your own biz, picking up an iced mocha from Starbucks only realize WRAITHS have taken over the famed coffeehouse. Its hard to make the mental switch between java & scone to kill monsters. Oh, wait, that silver bar wraith is chomping on a customer and their cake pop. Ah, silver sword.
Loot everything you can break things down or sell explore everywhere enjoy first play through 300 hrs+ didn't even play gwent
Tip: Roach will auto-follow a road so that you can drink or eat with your other hand while riding him.

As for the cross bow, does it ever become strong enough to be effective in land combat? Feels like such a waste of a weapon.
I've found it's mostly helpful in land combat to shoot down flying monsters (like draconids or griffins) so you can start attacking them again with your sword.
