[SynthV Cover] What Killed Me Was -- Saki AI

One of my favorite Vocaloid songs! kazkun is rather underrated for composing beautiful ballads -- Refrain Loop and Only Lonely Room are also amazing. I'm glad I finally found a voice good enough to make his stuff sound elegant.
I spent far longer tuning and mixing this than I should have -- while Saki AI is a delight to tune, she's a nightmare to mix. I tried to use AI tuning at first, but then realized it just didn't cut it, and it sounded way worse than even no tuning. Even so, I still really appreciate Saki AI's responsiveness to tension and voicing, which just makes her sound so much better than plain Saki.
The art is the one in the official PV of this song (and also my channel header...I just like this song too much xd). Since the only translation available was Hazuki no Yume's, I tried to translate it myself while also trying to sound as much not like hers as possible, which means it ended up being a bit awkward...

if you don’t mind me asking, how do you get the breaths to sound so good? i’ve been using synthv for a few months now and can’t quite figure it out haha

Ah...when she breathes in it’s actually Yuzuki Yukari’s EX voice. If I didn’t have that, I’d honestly record some breath sample of my own. For breathing out at the end of notes, I fade out voicing - it’s the parameter in the background in the video if you’re curious about the specifics. I’ll probably upload the svp eventually too
