    The 910mm "Little David" might be of bigger caliber but it is far from as BIG and heavy as the Schwerer Gustav! The Schwerer Gustav was used in combat and had an actual gun. The Little David was a bomb-testing mortar LOL.

    I think the effectiveness of the explosion from the Gustav shell got diminished because it landed directly on top of that tank, and you know what happens with Men Of War's physics. Even the Karl mortar does more damage then that normally.

    I think that the accuracy should be slightly higher (65% maybe?) In open ground, but have it lower, possibly around 35% when firing against enemies in cover.

    • @Chrischi3TutorialLPs

    • @sergiojuanmembiela6223
      @sergiojuanmembiela6223 7 лет назад +3

      The main issue is combat distance. Maps should be longer and hese tanks should begin firing at much longer range; once they got to the distance shown in the video their accuracy would be pretty good. In the video they start shooting at 150m range while most of them were capable of destroying some enemies at 1000m and most of them would be pretty effective at 500 m.

    1) das ist eines von drei gebauten geschützen. die zum beschuss von verteidigungsbunker gebaut wurden
    2) das hier ist noch nicht mal der schwerer gustav. denn diese wurde bei eine bomben auf die fertigungs hallen vernichtet. somit kann es sich nur um die dora handeln. die neben denn leichten gustav die einzig beiden geschütze diese größe gewessen waren.
    3) nur ein gamer, der keinerlei ahnung und oder grundkentnisse hat von denn sinnvollen umgang der technik, würde ein belargerungs geschütz gegen mobile ziele einsetzten.
    da diese, wie der name schon sage, nur zu belagerung gedacht ist und somit nur zum beschluss von umbeweglichen ziele ( also bunker !) einsetztbar ist.
    4) in diese video wird wieder sehr schön veranschaulicht. wie die spiele industier gesichtliche tatsachen verfälscht. nur um an das geld der jungen leute zwischen 12-25jahren zukommen.

    So a few facts: 1. The entire thing could be dismantled and rebuilt in 3 days with a crew of 250 people.
    2. It could move under its own power but rails had to be built on the fly in some cases.
    3. It could fire a shell every 30-45 minutes, about 14-20 shells a day.
    4. One of the shells it fired penetrated and destroyed a concrete ammunition bunker 30 feet below the earth in svestapol.

    • @gorillaau
      @gorillaau 7 лет назад

      Jakub Muron I don't think the Allies would have been intimidated by that gun as it's far too big. easy to spot from the air and takes too long to set up and fire. From memory, it could only fire 7 times before the barrel needed to be replaced.

    • @jakubmuron9030
      @jakubmuron9030 7 лет назад

      doesnt neccessarily need to intimidate them. It was a good strategical step just because of confusion of the enemy, making him get the information wrong.

    I would say Gustav is the strongest artillery gun, biggest caliber. For an artillery gun etc. But it's not the strongest gun ever made if your talking about caliber and weigh including ft. Then no. Including when Germany and Japanese made really big ass shit. Including Yamato and Bismarck. I'm just saying. Gustav is the strongest artillary ever made in history. But not the strongest gun in General.

    • @knesrevi
      @knesrevi 6 лет назад

      The SleepingMoose Thats bullshit. The guns on the yamato was about 400mm the Gustav was 800mm. Now please listen... The yamato had more guns and were used for bombarding a large coastal area with HE over a wide area. Now the Gustav because it was so massive the shell would level a very large area but its only 1 cannon and wouldnt destroy large an area BUT the Gustav had a bunker buster shell which could pen a meter of concrete and then blow up inside a underground bunker to shit. The caliber was the 2nd widest ever (the widest was little David at 900mm but the cannon was extremly short and the shell was literally flat and went so slow that it didnt do shit cuz it barely had explosive filler) now the barrel of the Gustav is like 4 or 5 times longer than the yamato and the propellant was larger so the shell went further and faster.

    • @knesrevi
      @knesrevi 6 лет назад

      The SleepingMoose When it comes to the strongest gun i dont know... I mean the Gustav high explosive has outdated filler and the APHE can be considered old as Fuck. However gustav with modern shells would be insane.

    • @MidnightmoonRR
      @MidnightmoonRR 5 лет назад

      Put it like this, the Bismarck class battleships had 15 inch guns, (about 365mm), The Iowa class has 16 inch guns (406mm), Yamato had 18 inch guns (461mm), Schwerer Gustav? 31 inch gun (800mm). In terms of firepower? Sure it can be beat, easily, by the M65 atomic cannon. But size and caliber, nothing can beat it.

    Hey Diplex, although im glad to hear that making videos for us isnt your primary reason for feeling awful, just make sure you're looking after yourself man. I know its lowkey stupid that I would care about some stranger ive never met or that you would ever take advice from a stranger, thats the reality we live in, and I care about how you're doing.
    Stress is a fucking shit deal, and it really doesn't matter where it comes from in your life, but it can be pretty crippling, more so than physical harm which at least has a clear cause. So don't just laugh it off or say its 'just' stress, because anything that is affecting you that badly should be taken seriously.
    Anyway I am just tryna say look after yourself. Whether its work, family, relationships, friendships or whatever, all of that shit is in its essence disposable, and should never make you feel that bad. At the end of the day you're number one and your mental/physical/social health should be your paramount concern. So if that means dropping shit out of any of those parts of your life, you may have to do it, it sucks shit but sometimes you have to chop off that arm to save the body. Don't let shit (people included) push you around man, nothings worth that.
    Keep yourself safe, and I would love to see more Vlogs, when you did some earlier it was really cool seeing all the work you do behind the camera :) Peace!

    Crew on the Gustav was about 500 men, althought you can imagine that if they'd actually had more experience in firing the thing they could likely have pared that down.

  • @program4215

    I feel like it would actually be pretty cool if there was some mod that added an extremely realistic version of a Gustav gun attack as a 10 SP point. To make it balanced you wouldn't actually get the vehicle itself, you would just get to hear it fire somewhere in the very far distance, and a massively destructive shell would hit wherever you chose. You also wouldn't be able to fire it again after the first shot since the game would be LONG over by the time that thing would reload IRL. It would be easy to counter it since the only situation where this will be a game-changer is if the enemy has foolishly placed all their important units in a clump.

    Hey Dude. I just wanted to say that I really do appreciate you making us this fantastic content. And that I really am sorry about what ever you are going through right now. I hope that you feel comfortable taking time off working on this channel to deal with whatever you need to deal with. Thank you for what you do.

    I don't know if I'm a fan of the accuracy limit. It seems to give an advantage to soldiers with inaccurate , high rate of fire weapons.

    It actually took about a thousand people to get that absurd monster to actually work. And it was NEVER used even near to the frontline, this was an anti-bunker gun, nothing else.

    Amazing battle and i love to see some early war tanks. The most ww 2 games only show us Tigers, Panthers , Kingtigers, Pershings, Shermans, Is 2 and T-34 tanks. But tanks like Panzer II , Panzer III , Panzer 35 t and 38 t were very important for the german armored divisions in the first years of the war.

    Bruh the Gustav took out the entire final trench, the USSR didn't stand a damn chance! You should have used it earlier on the smaller trenches like the one the T-34 was dug into.

    This is a little backwards. During the seige of Serbastapool... the Rail guns were used to soften up the town, THEN the attack went in. Not vice versa. or they could potentionall drop shells on their own assets.

    Well in Germany's defense stugs weren't meant to assault enemy infantry positions like that at close range they were meant for anti tank purposes mostly you need light Panzer3 and 2 and short barreled panzer 4 with HE rounds mostly

    I know its not in time period, but I would love to see Germans laying siege on a town or fort using Big Bertha howitzers like they did in real life on Liege. I feel like having them shell a position to hell and back would be fun to watch.

    As far as I know, while much of the guns original development may have been to counter the Maginot Line, I think it's only actual deployment was in the sieges on the Eastern Front and particularly Sevastapol, where despite the size of the shell and the boom that it made... it was NOT that terribly effective. Largely due to aiming and a massed rail network would be needed just to turn the gun from left to right. In that, bigger is not always better.
