Credit score should not factor at all in renting. It has no bearing on how you treat the place. If your income is high enough to afford the place and you have no prior evictions, what does it matter if your score is 450 or 800
@Luís Andrade If your credit score is a 400, you have no prior evictions or complaints, and your income is that of the required amount to live; what other data is needed to show you can be a cooperative tenant?
As a former property manager, I cannot tell you the number of renters we have approved with borderline acceptable credit who ended up skipping rent, paying late constantly, or causing significant damage. I believe in most cases your FICO does reflect your financial responsibility.
If your credit score is lower, one should work to improve it. Creditors look at your credit worthiness and if your score is less than the minimum or average score, they look at it as you not being responsible with paying your bills in a timely fashion. Cash is king, but credit is power. It is the American way.
@@JoeGatz1 because income isn't always the reason why people don't pay their bills. some people are just irresponsible and live beyond their means. a landlord is taking on financial risk and so they need some indicator of your history. it's basically like your college transcript, except it's a financial transcript.

Ha you know this is old... I just moved to Portland Oregon now and you can't find a studio for 1,400 let alone one with a corner windows like that!
We pay $1500 in Portland, have washer, dryer, dishwasher, outdoor space, garage plus parking outside. One bed one bath, no co-sign. Can’t wait to move somewhere else, not happy living here with the rise in violence.
You can definitely see her personality in her space I love it
Your place is super cute!!!!
I love her style!!
Finally my city! I $1350 for one a bedroom plus $70 for a storage unit that is located at my complex ☺️
How big is the storage unit?
My word. Did they require that you make 4x the rental amount, too?
@@justicejoycetv The typical formula for landlords is less than 30% of your income should go to rent. I don't know where she came up with that number.
@@swicheroo1 property companies are now asking 4x rent monthly or 40x annually.
@@justicejoycetv most places in Portland and Beaverton/Tigard area expect 2.5x the rent, and cheaper places expect 3x. I’ve never seen a 4x income requirement. Maybe the landlord was suspicious of her rental history and credit score?
I love her plants and her home 🤗
Love all the light!!
That rent’s not bad. Especially if the location is good.
She is incredibly lucky to have that price and to have a partner. Rent in Portland can be $900 for a 400sqft studio. The apartment pricing in Portland is insane.
I live in Portland, the geography/landscape is good. Food scene to a degree, everything else isn’t great imo. Nearly 18% of downtown commercial real estate is vacant because businesses are largely going but not coming.
Wow. I pay 1,500 for 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in Texas and of course free parking and water, etc. it’s a perfect life here
Probably live in a bumfuck part of Texas because Houston, Dallas, and Austin are getting higher and higher
Enjoy it while it lasts
“...What’s up you guys, it’s Graham here”
Haha it's only a matter of time!
I love the tile idea!
Her apartment looks so cozy !!
I love how thrifty she is! I use curb finds to decorate (or make some extra cash) and all of my clothing is thrifted. I love how crafty she is too!
.hello dear freind i realy need u to send me small coin for help my daugther for food god bless u be safe
Be careful with curbside furniture. My friends got bed bugs doing that. Ended having to get rid of a lot of their good furniture cause they could not get rid of those critters.
@@hopelife8130 shut upz
@@InconvenientTruth50 that's always my biggest worry with second hand furniture
Cute. Love how bright, sunny, and colorful it is.
You are a great decorator! I love your style!
Wow there’s so many things to consider when renting! It’s crazy!
Consider suburbs and small towns. Cities are way too expensive and not worth it!
I have got to get out of Northern Virginia, 15 years ago when I looked last, you could not get anything bigger than an efficiency for $1400 in Arlington. I don't pay rent or mortgage where I live now, but that will change soon.
...@hopelife50 :nice my dear but today i really need u to save me im broke this year do to covid so i beg u the best with respect to found me 5ghc for food help GOD
This apartment = good vibes! 😍
Happy place ... so beautiful. I love the plants 🌱.
Cute! I miss old Portland though.. My first place in 2005 in SE PDX was a 2-bedroom for $525 monthly!
Dang no laundry or dishwasher?! People in Portland are getting fleeced haha! That's not a high bar for a landlord in most of the rest of the country. Past that you have good internet and reliable fix times (i.e. if something breaks it doesn't take 6 months for the landlord to fix it).
please help me to feed my son my venmo is @hope-life god bless u
I was renting a 2 level studio with garage in North Portland last couple years for $770. It had a community laundry in the building... It was a great deal but it took me a year of searching to find... (Of course, I wasn’t on Hawthorne and i lived super close to VERY loud trains and a jam studio...) It was awesome 😎
@@ladybug5093 how is a two-level studio different from a loft? sorry, not up on the terminology.
@@jones2277 it was on a hill. Downstairs was the garage. Cement floors... not a loft.
@@jones2277 But the downstairs was suitable to use as a room, which i did. Living space / office. If that makes more sense.
Credit score should not factor at all in renting.
It has no bearing on how you treat the place. If your income is high enough to afford the place and you have no prior evictions, what does it matter if your score is 450 or 800
@Luís Andrade
If your credit score is a 400, you have no prior evictions or complaints, and your income is that of the required amount to live; what other data is needed to show you can be a cooperative tenant?
One bedroom for that much?!
I live in Texas and we pay $1,400 for 2 bedroom 2 baths which are very very good size and a great size living room with walk in closets.. as well as two car ports and a garage for extra stuff. That’s crazy!
I have a 1b/1b apartment in Portland, I pay about same price as this place, but I don’t have AC, no washer/dryer and no dishwasher! My building does have a laundry facility in the basement which goes a long way as it’s only a few floors away. It’s definitely worth it for me bc I’m situated in prime location of Northwest Portland ie not many homeless but tons of restaurants, stores and places to walk around.
So colorful and bright. What a lovely job you've done with your apartment!
That’s crazy they got denied even though they both MADE THE RIGHT AMOUNT andddddddd HAD RENT HISTORY like credit score is stupid
Its actually against the law to look at credit scores in Portland Oregon (since 2019)... there's a few things she says that were also not exactly right... maybe a bit exaggerated or stretched... fishy to me nonetheless! Im a Portland native and rented here since 2000 and just moved in May, so I'm super fresh with my renter knowledge! 😉
Nice work 🎆✨
Love your space
She is so cute and so is her space!
Not my style of decor but I absolutely love the space, the lighting and her choice of decor. It definitely suits her, very charming.
Great stuff

We call these apartment canyons, buildings as each one takes over 3 to 5 floors high 3 row houses wide & those left stuck between them are inside a dark canyon like the movie LIFT!.
I live close to portland, I pay $965 for 1 bedroom 765 sq ft and mine has laundry and a dishwasher. Her rent sounds about right for PDX, not to mention her decor is so cute 🥺
may i ask in what area, i’m not from around there but on a tight budget with myself and 2 kids 😩
@@ivy3986 I'm close to Salem Oregon
1400 with utilities, parking and its in SE? How did you get so lucky? I live in Beaverton, its 1600 for one bedroom. All my money goes to rent. I shop at food banks for groceries
Ouch. That’s brutal. Why stay in the Portland? Hillsboro ok?
Watching this and start to find an apartment in Portland!
I live in Tacoma and I rent on my one bedroom apartment just went up at 1,600 per month… … . Tacoma.
I miss my hometown 😭
This is insane. 1200 for a 1 bedroom 700sq ft apt and even with multiple jobs and school monies, she had to have a co-signer. Why? Because 4 times the rent is insane. 1 person rarely make 4 (× 1200= $4,800/month) times the rent.. in this case 5grand. How many people including yourself do you know that make 5,000/month and are willing to move into a single bedroom apartment, 700 sq feet ?? I cant stand how Portland has shifted. We used to be affordable. We used to be community oriented. Just a sad situation- wishing you the best.
It's obvious she owns everything she's talking about that she's showing. And "their" snowboard = just found the one thing that actually is his😅
her apartment looks so nice omg
GREAT ENERGY! THE HOME AND HER!
That's a beautiful apartment!
I live in Portland. It’s a hard place to afford, luckily I make enough to live comfortably. I always wondered how others were able to live here who don’t make as much.
Roommates - I live in a pretty poor city and that is usually how ppl get by
If you live in Portland you’ll have to get roommates
So if she applied for the place on her own how did get it so that her boyfriend could live there? He has to be on the lease too.
Narrator: “He was not on the lease.”
You just move the person in.
He can be on the lease as a non-financially responsible tenant. Or he’s not on the lease and she just admitted to breaking lease, hopefully it’s the former
@@michaelkokinos2872 yeah in my place if someone moves in and they aren't on the lease and the management company finds out they'll kick you out unless you put them on the lease.

Talented young lady. Beautiful design.
So odd i literally just followed her on tiktok the other day bc i need an apartment inspo
Wow your apt is lovely ☺️
I'm confused. Is your boyfriend not on the lease? Is that how you were able to get approved for this unit? Because if that's the case, you should check with your landlord. That is typically against most lease terms I have seen, and I've worked in property management for 10 years.
@Luís Andrade, I definitely saw my fair share of boyfriends/girlfriends who bailed on their partners and left them trying to cough up 100% of the rent. But both parties are financially responsible, so both of them would be screwed if the remaining person couldn't cover rent. This would be the case even if they were married, though I suppose you'd have the legal system more on your side in that example.
@@nataliefontane it's her grandmother who would be in trouble since the boyfriend isn't on the lease.
Soo cute. Good job
