I am 73 years old and I'm trying to make my first dragon. What kind of board were you rolling your clay on. I was trying to use you're board to gauge how big Things Are. What is the conversion on the board 2 inches
Hi Bob! I'm happy to hear you're sculpting a dragon! The board I used is a craft cutting board I bought at the dollar store. Each square is 1 cm long, or 5 squares are 2 inches long. Hope that helped!
Ahh this was so helpful! I didn’t have Polymer clay though so I just used some regular molding clay I found in my bedroom. Again, thank you for giving us a tutorial! (And I’m literally a 9 year old!)
This is awesome! I want to make some dragons & other mythical creatures for D&D campaigns. Think I'll use more wire & aluminum foil, + keep it done in white clay so that they can be painted... but, maybe coloured clay could save me time. Thanks for the creative inspiration
My wings turned out pretty well, but the rest didn't. I'll give this tutorial a 4\5. Great job! Maybe next time, you could make the legs easier to mold. I found that slightly confusing.
This is a really great tutorial but I prefer to sculpt clay in one piece because I’m not really good at attaching body parts together. Overall excellent video 😂.
Hi it's my first time using polymer clay and I just bought some, do I have to cure it after sculpting? I like to reuse clay so I wanna know what happens if I don't put it in the oven
You can reuse it if you don't bake it after sculpting. It basically play dough for adults. It might dry out after a while but working it with your hands will soften it up.
I use oven baked clay, I switch between Sculpey, Fimo, and Craft brand clay but they are all similar so it doesn't matter which one you choose. All clay and supplies I bought at a regular craft store near me. I have some more info in the description as well.
If lack of tools is an issue, they can be replaced with everyday items found in your house. The rounded pen/marker ends for blending, a regular cutlery knife to trim the clay, toothpicks for small details, stuff like that. But I'll most likely make another dragon tutorial in the future, so I'll keep lack of tools in mind!
I like my clear roller I got from Michaels. If you don't have one you could try a thick marker or a small round container. I like rolling the clay out on parchment paper since it's easier to peel the clay off the flexible surface.
Oh my wings broke off when baking the dragon. They broke right where I attached them to the back of the dragon. I don't know what I could have done differently
I'm sorry to hear that. One thing I would suggest is to use super glue as well as liquid sculpey. The super glue will hold the wings in place (and won't melt in the oven) while the liquid sculpey sets as it bakes. Propping the wings in place with balled up tin foil is another option. If both pieces are already baked, you can just super glue the wings to the body and call it done. Hope that helps!

That's so cool! Painting it after would also make it more realistic as you can add shading and more detail/texture. Happy sculpting!

Could u do a wolf?
Yes! I have one planned out, you'll see one soon :)
What is the best way to roll out the clay for the wing
I like my clear roller I got from Michaels. If you don't have one you could try a thick marker or a small round container. I like rolling the clay out on parchment paper since it's easier to peel the clay off the flexible surface.
@@CluelessCrafts I tried a regular roller with the clay between wax paper. That seemed to work well.

If you don't add the horns and wings it will basically look like a brachiosaurus dinosaur :D
Yeah it does! Thanks for watching :)
How long did you bake the dragon?
10 minutes for just the wings, then another 20 minutes for the dragon. There's more info in the description if you want :)
