- Wigan Pier is an area around the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, south-west of the town centre. The name has humorous or ironic connotations since it conjures an image of a seaside pleasure pier, whereas Wigan is inland and a traditionally industrial town
Southport Pier
On the evening of June 2 1959, a 30-strong fire crew battled massive flames and billowing black smoke after a fire broke out on the pier. The flames destroyed an area of 5,000 square feet of wooden decking, and reduced the pier's length by almost 20%.

Years ago me and a mate walked from Leeds to Liverpool (all self sufficient) 127 & 1/2 Miles for Charity (as you know I like stealth round the canals - Another good one buddy!

Yes no bell going that far on a sunny day lol and we get there in the end and even with a bell on my other bike people are deaf I find 🤪👍🏻🤩

That's why I said get a bell, lol. I'm half deaf and it scares the bejeezus outta me when I don't hear cyclists coming up behind me 👀🤣
I also ride the canals and had to swap my original bell for a louder one as like me, some folk can't hear the quieter ones. I think mine may be too loud now though as folk now get uppity with me for making them jump with the bell. 🤷🤣

Really enjoyed that Paul. I'm sure they sell bells at Gooutdoors, ding ding Lol. I did 20 miles on a towpath at the weekend oddly enough and i didnt have a bell either, lol. Got one from Halfords yesterday £1.

Nice video paul nice to see the journey to Southport from your last post it's great ride down the canal lost count of the times I've done it planning to do the full route from Leeds to Liverpool canal all 127 miles and wild camping on the way if your interested let me know mate you could join the adventure 👍

Pedalled most the Leeds an Liverpool canal only bit ive not done is a 20mile section near Burnley after skipton...the mud on canal was that bad had to get off
Do a revisit it might be ok next time 👍🏻
