Nostalgia, obviously. I always remembered those days in the 80s when you could find dream come true gear, how they relocated to this luxurious location and were acquired by the national chain Sam Ash Music. A good portion of my guitars were purchased there. They will be missed. ❤️
@@jimshomestudio I. Missed my review this weekend still hoping maybe tonight or latest wed evening to make Mooer A7 pedal video. A few others and finish the P2 prime with a final review

@@jimshomestudio Damn that's a pretty extensive list! I see some real eye catchers on there too. Especially the Suhr. I've always wanted to try one. I'm guessing that was the ESP with the bare knuckles in your video? I've always wanted to try that brand of pickups. A lot of really good guitarists I've seen rave about them. I like how you have 6 sm57s. I remember the first time I wanted to record my Ibanez Thermion through a carvin legacy v30 4x12 I did a bunch of research on the best way to do it and nearly everyone said sm57 just off center of the cone. I think there must've been a ton of records done that way. It just has a very natural way of picking up sounds. I've abused mine so much and it still works flawlessly. That's a hell of a recording rig you're using, too. Mine is pretty dated but I really only notice performance drops in StudioOne if I'm running lots of high usage plugins like Neutral DSP, certain reverbs and sometimes kontakt will act up on me. It's funny, I just asked my son today what video editing software I should use if I wanted to make a music video and he suggested Davinci resolve. Seems like the one to pick. Good to hear you're doing well!
@@cbsaulren All of the Harp Softsynths I can find require Kontakt, and I can’t bring myself to pay THAT much for it. A trial version came with the Tripleplay and I was confused by it, intimidated by the complexity. That’s what stands between me and my beloved Harp. Still saving for a truck for my wife… lol. You know there are no cheap trucks out there right now. 😜
@@jimshomestudio No kidding. The vehicle market is nuts. Especially trucks. And there should be a free version of Kontakt. The only reason I use it is for Get Good Drums. I think I have kontakt 7 but I'll have to check.
The store was initially Thoroughbred Music, and I immediately noticed it was less stocked compared to its original Tampa location. The original location was nothing short of amazing. It was next acquired by Sam Ash, so the inventory was different, more national brands and fewer custom instruments. However up to 2019 was well managed and a magnet for musicians. Post Covid, it was a shell of its former self, more of a pawn shop where used merch would get traded in, marked up extensively and sold. Fewer and fewer new instruments were available. The decline continued for 5 years, staff moved out and on with their lives, stock diminished, hard to find instrument cables, new guitars non existent, piles of used amps that had low demand and high prices. The fact that it closed was a relief, it was managed into the ground. With rents rising dramatically, there is no easy solution. A sign of the times. At least it was there for us for 30 years, a good run, and an enjoyable experience. Memories were made. Few people would understand as well as you, my addiction to the British Archeology Series, Time Team. Recently discovered the mother load of episodes, almost the entire series. I have been watching these episodes almost exclusively. Day and night. Cannot stress how much I enjoy this history lesson, so much as I Google details constantly about events that predate America’s existence. How society was formed. How America was formed from those ideals. And here we are! This upload is my way of testing myself, reflecting on my childhood, the radical skills of a time long passed. Hope all is well Colin, your commitment to excellence, high standards, pristine audio always an inspiration. 💪😊
@@jimshomestudioIt sucks when a gem of a store changes direction over time. I am lucky in that there is still a small store locally that is great. It doesn't have a huge amount of stock, but what they do have is impressive. For example a while back they had a couple of guitars owned by EVH's guitar tech. They were on sale for around $50,000 if I remember correctly. But you can still go in there and find used guitars on sale on consignment. I have bought a couple of guitars from there. It is where I got my Ibanez AR420. I have also bought a lot of odds and ends for customizing my guitars in the past as they have a lot of parts there too. I hope they don't end up going the same route as Thoroughbred. I haven't watched Time Team for years. I wonder if it is still the same team. Is it still Tony Robinson (Blackadder's Baldrick) and the older guy that has long gray hair and always wears a hat? I have been doing well. Having fun with a hardware synth I added to the mix a month or so back. Now I want more of them. I just need to find the money and space. lol Have to get ready to run some errands now, so have been keeping busy.
@@ccjmusic Tony is still doing well! However Mick Aston has passed, as well as Robin Bush, Victor Ambrose and others. Carenza is part of the new series, Stuart, and others. The original cast has mostly retired or passed away, sadly. They’re all so wonderful, I’m very fond of each and every participant. The show never gets old. Tony Robinson was knighted by Queen Elizabeth and has gone on to do many other series. Hard to find, but exceedingly interesting is a short series called Britain’s Cathedrals. The episodes I had saved were privatized.

We lived in Tampa during the 80's and my husband probably liked that store. Awesome video Jim!!
I’m sure he did, it was on Hillsborough Ave, one of the main E-W roads in the city. Kind regards Melody. 😊
This track kicks some serious butt!! Awesome tone and playing. Sad to lose a good music store.
Thank you much Tom and happy holiday! 🍀
So sorry your store closed.
Great piece of music from it though 😊
