- It's the late summer of 2007 and i'm down on the East London Line of the London Transport Underground. We see the veteran A60 Stock, built by Cravens (of Sheffield) in 1960 as steam replacement stock for the Metropolitan Line's loco hauled coaches and vintage EMU's. On this upload we see them at work at Wapping and Shadwell before the line was transferred to National Rail and became part of the London Overground network. Great footage of this. I remember The extensive refurbishment before reopening as part of London Overground three years later.
maybe it'd been at Rotherhithe, yet I'm pretty certain it was Wapping whereat I'd been awe struck, amazed by the cagily cramped stairwells down the open-air shaft from the ticket hall and then onwards to either platform..so cool!!!!!
it was some months ago that I learned that the design template for the A60ers(?) hails from the late-Forties
Yes, it took a while before LT had the funds to replace stock on the Met Main.....
Funny how you uploaded this a day before my birthday because I was actually born in 2007
Oh god you're making me feel old!
Nice trip down memory lane Soi Buakhao
