    Maybe because I'm old enough to have lived through all 3 titles, it is easier (for me) to say 'be patient' with this new regime and trust their decisions as they lay the groundwork for how this team moves forwards. I really do believe they are finally serious again about treating this franchise with care and complete dedication towards winning decision making. I believe Trajan can be that guy that pulls the team out of the quick sand they have been sinking in for the last decade plus. He does seem very calculated, and I believe he really will be the primary decision maker and not a 'yes man' to Tom or Arn. For those of us willing to be patient one more time, I think we will start to see a clearer vision of the identity and culture that Trajan and team are working hard to establish. We have to let them get to work. This team won't be contenders based on the very first draft pick, or first off-season of trades, etc. For those who were too young to see a title in Detroit, I feel for you for sure. I'm starved to see us be at the top again as well. I do get your frustration to see a competitive team. All I can say is give Trajan and team a chance before you try to run them out of town like everyone else before them. We will land on our feet again! 🏀

    I do like the fact that Holland doesn't shy away from contact! He's not scared to go to the rim and get it done, which is probably because he's aware of his shooting struggles! Vinson will help him and Ausar get that in order! He's defensive minded and I hope that will inspire some of the team to want to be more defensive! Only time will tell...

      @@Willie-C that doesn't make any sense. The guy who was 8th in assists per game last year can't play point because there exists some other PGs who he's not an ideal defensive matchup against? What?
      OR, maybe, just maybe, if you have a quicker 2 that guy can sometimes guard the other PG when the matchup isn't ideal. He's absolutely a PG.
      And sorry that "got me on a technicality" since I mentioned 5 guys. A 1, 2, 3, 4 and a 5. Ok, fine, take away the 5. They don't all play the same position.

    Ron Holland was the best player in this draft. We were fortunate to have him be there at 5 because I had him 1. He is an alpha male. He will learn to shoot because he has good form. He is a dawg all around. When it comes to I.Q and scoring, it is very similar to Lebron. He isn't a passer. He is a dawg on offense and defense. The shooting will come around. He will be able to strap people up defensively next year and will get buckets attacking the rim next year. This guy is a monster. Get ready. People need to remember that this man is 18 and will be 19 all season. Get ready. He can contribute right now. Pistons need to get a PF or two who can shoot the three and stretch the floor. Trade Ivey if necessary. If you need to include Stewart in there then fine. But get PF's who can shoot the three and help Duren grab some boards. This pick is an absolutely amazing get by the Pistons. Get ready!!!

    • @jamesbond1586
      @jamesbond1586 3 месяца назад

      @davidwright1728 He is a Piston by extension. But he needs the ball in his hand, and I would never, ever give Ivey the ball over Cade. Ivey isn't in the same stratosphere as Cade, so he will have to play off ball. Ivey needs the ball, unfortunately, and he isn't a great shooter. He didn't progress at all from his first to second year, which is very concerning. I know Monty didn't do him any favors, but he is a tweener guard who isn't a good shooter and has horrific defense. He looks confused way too many times out on the court. Sell him, and if you can bring us back a person who is established, with size and can shoot, then I'd take that any day. It would make the Pistons better. I mean, Sasser looked as good as Ivey last year, and that's not good. I'll say this, if Ivey wants to come off the bench, then fine. Either way, we reached on him. We picked him too high, and he didn't deserve to be that high. He is the only player who can't coexist with Cade in the starting lineup. If he wants to come off the bench, then fine, but he won't be happy about that. I just think both sides need to call it.

    "He 'shows tremendous upside for a long career as a serious player in the league. He very well may be the best wing defender in the upcoming draft class."
    "He's able to sky for dunks/lobs off one or two feet, an underrated ability that many high-flyers don't have:"
    No that's not a description of Ron Holland. That's Ausar Thompson's profile. His OTE 3pt% was around 30%. He ended last season shooting 18% from 3. Holland is at 24%. See where I'm going with this?
    However, the silver lining is it's early and from what I've been reading and heard we have an awesome shooting coach in Fred Vinson. Plus our new head coach, whoever he will be, won't, at least I hope he won't, stick Holland in the corner like Monty did Ausar waiting to hoist up 3s when that wasn't his strength.
