That was fascinating to hear the detail you went into after the race! Much more than we typically get to hear from a regular media interview. After a few weeks of avoiding running content while getting myself out of an injury/illness enforced break, this was the perfect way to reignite my love for the grind
Thank you I’m glad you found it interesting! It’s just us having our usual post race chats but with Daniel there holding the camera 😅 Love that! Thank you
Great video with lots of information about the (mental) "process" and always great to see you and Jip together and this time in our country. I have been runnig again for about 6 months after an around 5 year break and have done nothing but long and "slow" work since I started again. It is really annoying to have no topspeed at all right now, knowing I will have some mid distance track races in a couple of months. This week I had my first "speedsession" on spikes and it was horrible, but I have to trust the "process" and trainer that it will all work out when it has to. I have no doubt you and Jip will be in the right shape at the right time.
It's important to feel the sadness and angst, it will make the PRs all that much sweeter knowing you kept going. You ran great on a race that was not your A-race. That's awesome!! You're an inspiration 🌻 I'm also glad to hear that even people at your level get nerves before a checkup-have-fun race!! I definitely feel that too 😬
V well done to both you and Jip - try not to be so hard on urself Philly - remember what u said this was a race u wanted to do pressure free - u still had a gr8 run and with negative splits - just becoz it was a race/event doesn’t mean ur always going to smash it out the park and that doesn’t always mean ur not in good shape - just treat it as a hard effort training run in prep for ur next race/event ❤
Your content is amazing. And you are so humble really are. Never change! Love from a runner who has a hamstring niggle 8 weeks out from Boston send love please xxx
If you feel the need to back off a little with the training, do it and don’t worry. My Achilles’ tendon got a bit angry with me about four weeks ago so I did a week of solid swimming and weight work. I just didn’t want to make the issue worse. I’m traveling over for New York Half in a few weeks, best of luck with Boston and wishing you a great run 😊
Amazing time! I'm no way near your level, but I find travel really messes with my events. I've run 29 marathons and last year, I tried to run a marathon after getting back from Mexico 1 week before the race. It went SO badly. It takes me weeks to recover from jetlag for some reason and I ended up just doing the half instead. Don't discount how much travel takes its toll on you individually, just because it doesn't impact one athlete, doesn't mean it won't impact another! Well done :D
A solid run-out Phily. Don't over analyse your performance too much here- very few hit the ground running off altitude work. 2 wks from now you'll feel better...
You got Jip's name wrong, as I was Googeling her, it's VastenbUrg. So not a mountain (berg) but a castle (burg). Enjoyed this video once again, I'm on a binge at the moment.
I know that times are relative, but that still seems like a fast time to me, but speculate it might not be what you wanted. I thought the debrief was important after the run to put it into context as a way to look at things more positively, it allows you to move forward and look to improve next time. A good tip for us all maybe?
So true what when Jip was talking about comparing everyone (in the world!) with instagram/social media Quote by Theodore Roosevelt: “Comparison is the thief of joy.”
Haha love NL, Albert Heijn is a bit of weird place isn't it, it's like a really posh Coop but with amazing fish selection and you cannot buy a ready made sandwich from there, the spar shops are really quite fancy too

My only 10k at the age of 18 I went out too fast and had a time of 33:25. Plantar fascitis was so bad I could barely walk--ending my career until the US Air Force offered me the re-enlistment job of running track and field in Europe, after I buried US Space Command's one and a half mile annual fitness qualification run's record with a time of 6:47. I didn't take them up with the offer but thanks to the inspiration of following you I plan to try to run under 4:10 in the mile in a year and a half to break the 60 and over record.
I have my 1st ever 10k coming up in 18 days, I've only just managed my 1st 5k in over a year hahaha. I think im gonna die. I am such a long way off my fittest, my fasted ever 5k was Sub 17 minutes, It is now at just over 32 minutes.
London is like 10 weeks after this race (this was February 12). So it might be the marathon of Prague, which is exactly 12,5 weeks after this race (May 7th)

Daniel should be introduced into team NB as the official cheerleader, best in the business hands down
There are “speciality” stores that should have his size. In fake leather.
