“별별별” or “byeol byeol byeol” in Korean has multiple different meanings when translated to English. Sometimes it means “weirdo”, “star”, “unusual”. NMIXX has been the group that kpop really “dislikes” when it comes to their discography as their whole identity and concept is MIXXPOP, which is combining two or more different sounding songs together. They have gotten better with combining those different sounding songs together more smoothly, but if you want to know what I’m talking about, react to their first 2 title tracks “O.O” and “Dice” respectively.
I interpret this song as a callout to the haters, saying that “many people are weirdos”, “who cares if I’m myself”, references about being the black sheep, “everyone will look and criticize us”, “yeah I’m a star star star”, etc. Then them calling the haters weirdo back to them, “anyway, weirdo”. Basically since they debuted two years ago, they’ve been the subject of hate so they’re saying no matter what and how much hate they get, they’re gunna “keep going higher and higher” and continuing to make fun music.
Just info on NMIXX (pronounced “EN-MIX”) they are a 6 member group (used to be 7, one member Jinni, now a soloist as Jini, she left due to “personal reasons” shortly after their second comeback), and they’ve been labelled as “4th gens best vocal group” and JYP labels them as “an ACE group” with “ACE” meaning sufficient in vocals, rap, dance, stage presence. Usually in KPop, the labels choose official roles for each of the members such as Lead Vocalist, Main Rapper, but JYP never officially announced their roles as they are a ACE group. I’ll be giving you timestamps in this video of each of the members names and the unofficial roles that fans gave them, even though they are all good at everything, oldest to youngest.
Lily 4:34 , she’s 21 and from Australia, Main Vocalist. She’s been regarded as 4th Gens best vocalist, I mean rightfully so as she’s so good!
Haewon 2:23 , she’s 21 and from Korea, Leader and Main Vocalist. She’s also really good at singing, she goes viral a lot as she’s very charismatic and funny!
Sullyoon 2:37 , she’s 20 and from Korea, she’s a vocalist and dancer but she’s also the “Visual” of the group as she fits 100% of the Korean Beauty Standard. She’s the only shy one of the group, all the others are VERY outgoing!
BAE 1:51 , she’s 19 and from Korea, Vocalist and Dancer. Her vocal tone is very unique and she stands out in that way. She’s also VERY funny (Haewon as well)!
Jiwoo 6:13 , she’s 19 and from Korea, she’s the Main rapper, a vocalist and a dancer. Her dancing is UNREAL and she’s been standing out in recent comebacks for me!
Kyujin 1:39 , she’s 18 and from Korea. She’s the Main dancer, a rapper, vocalist. She’s also the youngest (Maknae), and she’s nmixx’s strongest Ace, her dancing is one of the best in 4th gen, vocals are underrated, rapping is very good and her stage presence is unmatched!
