Separating Inner Conductor From Braid (

Jason, KN6UIZ, is wondering what a good way to separate the braid from the center conductor in of coax. Watch to learn more about this old method that works well.

Thanks Dave for answering my question and showing the process for separating the braid from the center conductor. It definitely is much harder to do with the bigger cables! 73!

I find using a metal scriber or seal pick to pull the centre out much easier.

I have done this many times and, as VK4GEO wrote, I use straight and curved picks as tools. They allow making a hole in the braid with less risk of breaking strands in the shield and make it easy to get the center conductors started through the braid hole.
