Because the stacks of the embodiment that you kill actually do not transfer the stacks to the boss. On the flipside in the first intermission, you still need to soak the Gluttony orbs, since you don't kill the small Gluttony embodiment there and hence the stacks will transfer over to the boss.

Cool run! How come boss is not getting stacks at 50%? I see you guys are intentionally letting the gluttony orbs get in during the intermission
Because the stacks of the embodiment that you kill actually do not transfer the stacks to the boss. On the flipside in the first intermission, you still need to soak the Gluttony orbs, since you don't kill the small Gluttony embodiment there and hence the stacks will transfer over to the boss.
