Coast Salish Anthem - Chief Dan George Prayer Song - by Gabriel George

- The song was my late Grandfather Chief Dan George's prayer song; Later adopted at the request of Coast Salish Chiefs as the Coast Salish Anthem - in this version I sing 4 full verses, followed by one tailing or end verse. However, when my family sings it we often sing three full verses, followed by one tailing or end verse. Either way is good!
Always soothing to the soul, Gabe. Gilakasla ❤

I will always remember this channel to have a Talking Ben version of this song before it got privated/deleted

hello gabriel george thanks for posting this song one of my all time fav's...i have a question here to ask...how do one get permission to sing this song as well as being able to post a video of this...i play guitar and have learned how to play this song on guitar...so i am wondering how to go about getting permission...i have not recorded it yet until have permission...if it is a no i understand and respect that...i am from the land of the quinault the tribe ur grandfather had made a short film back in the early 70's...our totem is the raven...in that short film he sings a song that i learned and have gotten a song from it as well as as a song i got from this prayer song...so again if its a no i will not bother again
Just my opinion here. You surely do not have to listen. To me this song is purity in simplicity in prayer. Reverence for the things of our life on Earth. Idk. I'd think about adding guitar to this. The folks did not use guitars. Why change it by adding. Of course traditional drum would fit well.
Thank you for your post. How does a non-Indigenous person receive permission to read the English words of the anthem? Appreciate any direction.
It means a lot
What a powerful song! Is it possible to get permission to use it in a class slideshow documenting our experience on the Salish Sea? We are looking at the cultural history of the area and interactions between humans and the sea ecosystem, encouraging the human's role as steward and caretaker.
Do you have a Forest god like the Celtic (Kernunnos) of ancient Celtic Gaul (Now modern France).....This video is about him,>>(Type O Negative - Green Man)
