The Atlantic current is in trouble. This we have known for about 10 to 15yrs now. Cold water sinks and warm water rises. This is how our Atlantic Ocean or Gulf Stream works. It take all that hot water and it brings it up north to get cool or colder, which ever you prefer. The more ice that melt off of Greenland, the more fresh water goes into the ocean. Now here's where it gets kinda tricky. Not everyone is on board with this happening. Fresh water could bring the Gulf stream to a crawl. If this happens like predicted, the ocean in the Nothern Hemisphere will keep on getting hotter and hotter. This is kinda like leaving a pot of water on the stove. The water will get to a point that it evaporates. Now if water in the ocean evaporates, this will leave a more salty content again. This is a cycle that's been happening now for hundreds of thousands years or for millions, they don't know. Now the question is going to be, can mankind survive this swing or will mankind miss out on the future. Earth has away of healing itself and getting rid of the animals that populate the planet. I'm so freaking tired and I hope this all makes sense. I'll have to read this in the morning and see how I did tonight. Lol

We've known about most of the major ramifications of climate change, hazardous air pollutants, the destruction of rain forests, cascading extinction,, and all the other human induced ecological plights facing our planet for a long time now. We've also been well aware that, in many of these instances, we need to make dramatic changes in our current means of production, consumption, transportation, energy generation, and just about everything else we do as a species living in our modern industrialized societies, at varying levels of development. While we've made a few meaningful strides o'er these past 60-70 years, it's certainly not hyperbolic to state that, we've done almost nothing... especially when one takes the number of major ecological quandaries we now face, and their potential level of severity into consideration. Sadly, at least for our sake, as the noble and intelligent ape, that trajectory doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon. Why? Well, without delving too deeply into my own political, philosophical, or ideological worldview, it's going take a major, global cultural change, wherein the attainment of wealth and material goods, consumerism, and wanton consumption are no longer the driving impetus behind everything we do. I personally don't see that happening. From the corporate level; where multinational businesses invest billions in lobbying, backing "business friendly" candidates, bribing officials, and propagating the narrative that they should be allowed to pollute, treat their employees like a disposable resource, and do whatever they can to maximize profits; down to the personal level; where individualism is seen as the great and noble truth, stepping on others for one's own personal gains is perfectly permissible, and we allow the affluent to do whatever they please, based upon the premise that there is an infinitesimally minute possibility that we, ourselves, may become billionaires one day; greed... avarice, has just become too deeply imbued in the human psyche. Unless that changes, I just don't see us making the personal sacrifices necessary to address the myriad of ecological problems that we, as aa species, have basically incited over these past two centuries. I mean, if we can't make these changes in developed nations, we certainly can't expect developing countries to halt their industrialization objectives. After all... that's what brought us to the dance, and we're not about to give up what we have, so why should they worry about something like the environment. Well, that's my two cents. I too am exhausted.

A greenhouse gas by definition is required to be lighter than air in order to rise and stay in the upper atmosphere!
