If you went to primary school in the 90s, the "not" statement totally tracks like the "not" teasing/joking that was high humor to 90s kids. If you know, you know. Thank you so much for doing a part 2!
You guys are great! thank you so much for these videos, there are so much I've learned that I didn't have a clue, and I knew a few things about families. You guys rock! Definitely gonna check out your products.
Quicktip for special characters in parameter names: Use square brackets, like "= [Special - Character] * 2" in your formulas around your such parameter names, and you'll be good.
You can only use reporting parameters in formulas in very unique situations, like it is referencing only host elements, or special reference planes from the original OOTB family templates. I could also mention adaptive families but thats a quite deep rabbit hole.
Although I will also use the visibility to change the problem that the array cannot display 1 but I don't do that very often, actually there's something eating up the computer's resources Make a box that can be generated by array (X/Y axis), the box is set to be invisible See if the computer spins in circles when the number is larger Small projects are ok, large projects should not exist (large projects should not have chairs)
Thanks for video! It’s cool thing to using arrays in families. But it’s families became massive. I also using arrays with on/off parameters which linked on visibility. I’m using that in embedded parts in my nuclear stations projects.
Thanks for such an interesting webinar. A question to expert, have you ever tried to make oval- shaped table and make the same parametric chairs, and array?
From your experience, for a protect to be constructed, ideally would it be better to use full detail families of the brand, type and specifications of the products to be used (like windows) or is it better to have simple geometry families for reference?
Would using the the visibility parameter mess up the scheduling? Say, for example you wanted to count the instances of a chair in a project through a schedule, would Revit count those chairs that are still in the family, but just not visible?
How was did he replicate the array to the other side from the last video ...... how was he able to control.the numbers for the other side also.... I mean the number of chairs

hahaha 😂😂
I absolutely loved this. no one explains Formulas, you've just gotta do it. so this is excellent thank you so much :)
Glad it was helpful! Brenton will be back on the show this week, actually!

Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
Part 3 would be awesome! I model plumbing but enjoyed both parts.
Cheers! I will definitely get Brent back on the show!
YES!

Good point! My instinct is to avoid them... haha

Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed !!

ok - I'm going to say it. Awesome StarWars cap (with reference to Star Destroyer Bridge Officer rank on black field). ... pure .... badarse
I am glad someone spotted that!! ;)
Ljjlljkk.

Pretty cool trick of using a NOT to achieve a “greater or equal than” behaviour.
Agreed! Thanks for tuning in!
math class on crack. why am i so in love with this?
Haha math is for the cool kids ;)

It won't, fortunately.
@@thumDerr thanks!!

This "family" guy is really smart
Haha, yes yes... he is!
