Welcome back to the Immersion Fiji RUclips channel. In this Fiji fishing adventure, I answer a couple of the most common questions I get asked. Can you catch good fish fishing land based in Fiji? What setup do you use?
I don't do a lot of shore fishing here in Fiji but I knew it was possible to get onto some good fish if you put in the effort.
So after working out a few good spots to try a couple mates and I gave it a crack. We got onto some fantastic fish like Giant Trevally, Bluefin Trevally, and Red Bass. Catching the species shore based is a real buzz. There are so many things that could go wrong which makes it all the more challenging.
The gear I was using
Rod: Shimano Ocea Plugger Full Throttle
Reel: Shimano Stella 18000
Hooks: BKK Raptor Z

Love the land based fishing. Nice red bass there. Mine was the same size and dived straight for the reef. 6 years ago we were fishing land based at the shangri-la on the Coral coast and smashed the Spanish Mackeral

Awesome fishing lads...you guys should keep all the fish and donate it to an orphanage or village nearby.
We do a lot of catch and release especially with resident fish. We do keep quite a few pelagic species and we do give a lot to a few of the villages we have relationships with. But the orphanage is a fantastic idea. My wife and I were just talking about what we can do to help out the orphanage.

What size poppers and stickbaits r u guys using land based?
I use roughly 180mm lures for pretty much everything when targeting GT’s
