If this is what happened, Im not wasting my time on this anime. I have wasted too many hours waiting to see relationships built then the MC's or FMC's just decided to get cold feet and screw the viewers over, so if this is what happened and someone can confirm, im not watching this anime.

@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks Not everyone is perfect and when you see a guy who is terrible its better to give them a chance and see what they can do. Kazuya might be a bad character which 88% don't like but later in the story he becomes useful to chizuru but not of as now.

If I had to be honest, Kazuya’s reaction of retracting his statement with “rental girlfriend” instead is quite realistic to real life. The safest route of ever confessing is to back out and avoid getting rejected. At this point, my body is itching for a season two😁.

@@poodlescone9700 that's the problem, because it's relatively easy to do this to a girl you aren't already in love, but his situation is pretty risky, as getting rejected at this point is pretty damaging. And it only became like this because he waited for too long while getting more and more involved. It's tough. I think almost every guy can relate to it. Once you realise that you can't wait for too long, then you also realise you should do what you just said and life gets a bit easier on this regard. You just can't let this get to this point, because once it gets there, it becomes pretty hard.
And let's face it, he only has a chance because it's fiction, even he knows he is just too pathetic on her eyes, or at least that it would be the case outside fiction.

@@worlddomination4840 true, but kazuya is developing. Small hints of it are sprinkled through the last three episodes where you can truly see him grow if you okay close attention. And yes, Sumi did have more development in a shorter spam of time.
Just imagine yourself confessing to a top class girl like her in real life. The embarassment kicks in and it's not easy to manage. At the end, he did get the message delivered but the pressure won over him. It's realistic.

I honestly think it was smart that he didn't fully confess, he still has a lot of personal issues that he needs to resolve and I don't think Chizuru would've accepted him currently, he saved himself by doing that as cringy as it was.
Mizuhara has now firmly taken hold of the title of "Best Girl 2020" so far (we still got the Fall Season left to go).

You're forgetting, they ended on Chizuru being flustered beyond closed doors, which is way more valuable than us just getting the cliff hanger of what happens after his confession, imo. Now viewers have more ammunition behind thinking that Chizuru has genuine feelings for Kazuya but hasn't recognized it yet

When it went into the montage after this I thought "what if they did this all as a joke" and when it returned and he backed away from his confession I laughed so much. I love the humor of this show!
I like Kazuya as the protagonist , that he is insecure (which is fine that he is, makes it more realistic) makes everything more interesting ;)
Being insecure is one thing, but being a role model of a true simp as he is, is completely different. I hope this anime doesn't fool young people, because in reality he would be getting dumped, manipulated, used and abused left and right until he realised that he had to change. But as this is an anime, the girls actually like him. I hope he changes and Mizuhara keeps acting like she doesn't care too much about him at least until he does so

@@gerardogomez2820 If he is not a simp, I don't know what a simp is then. I'm not even bothered by his relationship with Mizuhara to be honest, it's not that part. It's the Mami part and the part that he lacks too much self-respect. I'm not even talking about he crying all the time, that is just he being sad, weak and feeling like a victim. A lot of guys can see a part of a past version of themselves on him, this simp part that I described I certainly do, the crying part not so much, but regardless of that, we realize that if you don't respect yourself, nobody will either, especially women, and that makes most of us change. We learned our lesson. The Mizuhara version that kinda don't give a flip about him is very realistic, as he presents himself to her as a very weak person. That's why I said I hope he changes before she shows her feelings to him, because only then those feeling would be mildly possible in reality. If he doesn't get a big reality check, there's no way he will change, and I wanna see him changing. I'm not even saying he has to become a chad, just become a respectable person, that's all really.
