Hello. I just happened to be watching reactions of Jisoo and I'm so glad I came across yours. I love a more huskier tone as well. I was listening to Jisoo for the first time and it was after I heard Believe by Cher. I had never heard of Blackpink but Clarity sung by Jisoo came on. I fell in love with this woman so hard! Lol! Her voice is so special to me and I can't take listening actually saying things like Jisoo is only visuals or that she can't sing. Now they are saying she's improved but I know she's always had this talent. If you listen to Blackpink songs it's right there since Boombaya. Sorry for the long rant it's just good to finally find someone who appreciates Jisoo's talent, mannerisms, and personality as much as her visuals! She is so much more than just a gorgeous woman. ❤

My interpretation is as follows: 😅😢 This is her true self separating from "what the world wants her to be". She is finally parting ways with the masked Jisoo like a flower leaving its only scent in spring. Spring is the season when flowers are in bloom, and instead of blooming, they are growing. The metaphor of her looking at her own reflection in the mirror symbolizes that her 2 different personas were all scattered throughout the MV. She's saying "I'm fine, I hope you are too" as a goodbye to her exhausting, beautiful self. Well... this is just my personal opinion ❤😂

I believe that Jisoo gave a stealthy shout out to Jenny, Lisa and Rose' by using their favorite colors ( Jenny's is black and pink, Lisa's is yellow, like the building, and Rose's is blue and baby pink).

notion that the subtext of the video is that rather
than it being an ordinary love story, Jisoo is playing a sex worker, a 'flower girl.' In past centuries in China, Japan and Korea, the title 'sing-song girl' (Chinese:), or 'flower girl,' was a slang term for a courtesan. The yellow building which Jisoo stands outside of, looking in at a set of pearls, was painted that colour specifically for this MV shoot. It strongly suggests the 1996 Korean film 'Yellow House,' which is about a sex worker who struggles with her identity when she is forced to leave the Yellow House brothel of the title. Jisoo is playing the role of someone who is deeply conflicted by her profession, with all the waiting around in hotel rooms and lobbies, avoiding eye contact with maids and elevator operators, plus all the inevitable heartbreak and loneliness. At the same time she is still attracted to the money she makes and the sense of power it brings, as this may be her only alternative to poverty. Flower is a perfect word to describe Jisoo and I'm so glad she chose it as the title for her first solo. Always beautiful, sometimes fragile and gentle but with occasional thorns and a hint of dangerous intoxication and heady aroma.
This song isn't some great ballad or bouncy dance song, even though she is perfectly capable of both; this is a song that is playful and simple without being boring, it has a touch of sass that I love to see from her!
