I absolutely genuinely LOVE this. I everyone appreciated this music as much as I do, there would be no war in the world. Everybody would be busy learning to play the fiddle.
Not only did Roy master many instruments and was known primarily as a country musician , he could in fact play any genre of music on them at the highest level. A true virtuoso musician, and humble to boot. He is missed.
Saw him in Las Vegas on pure chance as when checking in, I asked the reservation lady if she had any coupons or promos. She smiled and replied "glad you asked" and promptly handed me and gf 2 tickets to see Roy and company. Wow, what a artist!! Later that evening we saw him posing with fans getting photos and signing autographs. This man was a true professional who loved his audience.
always surprises me to hear performers especially those up there in age who still appreciate the crowd like it was there first concert. such a great performer.
Roy had that genuine humbleness that is so rare today. But it was there in people like Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton and a few others. They mastered their craft and never forgot where they came from!
Roy, I'm going to miss you my friend. Vernon and I have.talked about you. There is no one that can play a stringed instrument like you. I hope that one day the Lord will allow us to play "Look Out Below" together. I look forward to the opportunity! God is truly a fan of Country Music!! May God bless and keep you my friend!!!
When Roy gave up baseball and the piano to focus on the banjo and guitar....his father said " You better be good at it because you have nothing to fall back on " .
As far as I know he was strictly a strings man. I've seen him play the harp but not the slide guitar(?). Think he said he just felt awkward with the fingering cause his fingers were too big for it. As for all the other four and twelve stringed instruments I'm sure he could play them since he's use to playing them. The rest is music theory which he knows extremely well.
Roy Clake was talented Beyond measure an a Master of the guitar Another Legend is gone! Our Throughts and Prayers are with his family & kids! Thank you for sharing this with us Wonderful Inspiring Memories! You were the Best! Rest in peace Dear sir! B- 5/15/1933 ❤ D - 11/15 2018 Age 85 🎻 Date 11/19/2018 🎻
He started to be boxer in his youth and wanted the win the Title for his class. He joked that so did the other guy but he wanted it more than I did . So he gave that up.
I was once asked who I thought was a good guitarist and musician who could play different instruments. They were shocked when I said Roy Clark. I'm a rock n roll guy. But Roy was too talented to ignore. Even if you didn't like country you had to admire his work and musical wizardry. RIP Roy.
I disliked country music when I was young and still dislike it to this day but whatever music you like there is no denying that he was a profoundly talented musician.
Just wondering who they would of named in Rock N Roll< Another Country Multi talanted instrument Player is the Lovery Talented MS Barbara Mandrell She plays a few Instrements also.
The lone weekend that Roy performed at the Valley Forge Music Fair, way back in the early 1980's (I was an audio engineer under contract to them), I had Air National Guard duty, and wound up in the Azores for three weeks. Upon my return, I was informed that he performed a 45-minute sound check, with eight different instruments, and purchased lunch for the entire stage and sound crew. At the conclusion of the concert, he pointed towards the master control area, and thanked them for helping the performers sound so good. My favorite guitarist of all time, and my inspiration for learning the 12-string. Thank you, Mr. Clark, for I spent hours on end trying to learn your style, and enjoying every minute of it!
Ye-Haw!!! These musicians are Great!!! Its kind of funny, but in my old age, I have become a fan of country music, especially the great virtuoso, Roy Clark who was a happy-go-lucky force of nature. While I do not play country music per-se, I have come to realize that country has always been an element of my style. Better late than never!!!
Not a Big Fan of Hillbilly music , but I do think Roy Clark has more talent in his little finger than most musicians have in their entire body. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Well, the term "Hillbilly" is usually reserved for use by those who consider themselves to be hillbillies. I just call this southern country music. And yes, Roy Clark was amazing.
Several Tunes: "Liberty", "Arkansas Traveller", "??I forget title", "Ragtime Annie", "??"Back Up and Push"I forget title", "Liberty". Who are the fiddlers??
+Marika Fragen It may be, Marika. The performance program lists it as "Fiddle Hell". Perhaps the title was changed because Roy Clark arranged it for this live performance with band?
Does anyone know the tune the first player picked? I mean the first guy right after the group breaks off for the first time, the older gentlemen in glasses
I absolutely genuinely LOVE this. I everyone appreciated this music as much as I do, there would be no war in the world. Everybody would be busy learning to play the fiddle.
That is a beautiful sentiment.
Roy was a beast. A master at three stringed instruments, when most mere mortals could barely master 1
Actually 4. Mandolin, banjo violin and guitar.
Correction...most mere mortals can’t master ANY 🙄
Wrong.
He was a master of four, five, six and twelve stringed instruments though.
Not only did Roy master many instruments and was known primarily as a country musician , he could in fact play any genre of music on them at the highest level. A true virtuoso musician, and humble to boot. He is missed.

Roy Clark is the master of anything with strings.
One of the most underrated musicians ever. Roy could literally play anything.
Roy never had to hog the stage. He was always willing to share the spotlight.
Roy was a National Treasure. Amazing.
always surprises me to hear performers especially those up there in age who still appreciate the crowd like it was there first concert. such a great performer.

Roy Clark is an amazing musician and a beautiful person.
He can entertain with complete full package of music, expression and feelings of humour that it will attract your mind towards him

Look out below is one of my favorite instrumentals he does. A. K. A. under the double eagle. 🦅. Lol.
It is so sad that thisheartflet humbleness shown by such a great entertainer no longer exists.
Yeah the comments at the end were pure class.
He's thought of as a great guitar player, but his fiddle and banjo playing were also top notch.
Hi Jeff
One of if not the greatest American pickers of all time.
When Roy gave up baseball and the piano to focus on the banjo and guitar....his father said " You better be good at it because you have nothing to fall back on " .
He and so many are so missed! But one sweet happy day, we will see them a gain.
I'm by no means a fan of country music, but this man was a genius
RIP, an incredible musician that could play anything with strings.
He also played the piano but said that the guitar could make different sounds for him the experiment with .
That dude could master any instrument he picked up. I bet bagpipes, kazoo, and squeeze box were also mastered by this guy.
As far as I know he was strictly a strings man. I've seen him play the harp but not the slide guitar(?). Think he said he just felt awkward with the fingering cause his fingers were too big for it. I just read something that stated he started out playing a trumpet by ear. But hocked it at a pawn Shop for a mandolin. And the rest is history!
AWESOME TALENT...HE WAS GREAT! GOD BLESS...

Roy is the definition of a prophetic artist. The man had so much fun doing what he loved. And he likely touched more than anyone else in that era.
