She was born in 1958 Kunitachi-city, Tokyo Japan.
She began learning classical piano at the age of four.
Formed a band in junior high school and played keyboards. She began writing her own songs around this time.
At the time, her father was in Iran for work, and listening to the music of popular local female singers through her father fostered an exotic musicality.
She entered the “Miss Seventeen pageant” and sent a tape recording of her song to CBS Sony, where she passed the first screening. This caught the eye of the director, After graduating from college in 1979, She made her professional debut.
In October 1, 1979, "Foreigners (IHOJIN)" was released and made her record debut
under the artist name "Saki Kubota".
She attracted attention as a singer-songwriter with an exotic piano playing tone,
a crystal clear voice, and exceptional good looks, and suddenly became a big hit song
such as No. 1 on the Best Ten Chart for three consecutive weeks.
Her first album, “Talking About Dreams (YUMEGATARI)”, released in December 1979,
    was also a hit album.
Under the name Saki Kubota, she released 7 original albums and 9 singles.
She is currently active under her real name Sayuri Kume.
Her husband is ex- PRISM and ex- THE SQUARE fusion Jazz keyboardist Daisaku Kume.
Unfortunately, her many works did not get the chance to be released in Europe and the United States,
and were only released in Japan.
For a long time, her wonderful works were buried in Japan
and remained unheard of and unknown to people around the world.
