The last time he had his armor was around the sarlacc pit, it is the clear point to start looking for it. The next he remembers probably is waking up in the Tusken camp, so for him, the starting point is the pit. It is also several years now. It needs to be eliminated as the first point, because it is the hardest to conquer anyway. If it is not there, it is probably "easier" to find, even in this huge galaxy.

A big part is the OG was the '70's-'80's. Tech, FX, George only had fever dreams of the tech we have today. Growing, adding, updating, the existing lore...love it! We can NOW make these worlds full and alive. Love it!

Yes! Lucas was never trying to make Star Wars look retro. He always evolves Star Wars to the cutting edge of technology. He invented the cutting edge of much of this stuff. I also don’t get why Harryhausen touches are odd for people since it was definitely an element that influenced the original trilogy.

As someone who wished Boba Fett stayed mysterious, the truth is that George already humanized and "softened" Boba by showing him as a little kid who loves his dad. This series at least gives him depth and development. He's not just a walking action figure anymore. Also, there's 3 more episodes left and I suspect we'll get some big thrills.

I think they wanted to do a Boba Fett story and planned for the movie route which fell through. So they made The Mandolorian and that covered the Bounty hunter angle and that was a hit. They decide to go back to Boba Fett after his intro in Mando, so now we have to do something else and here we are. You can’t have Boba do the same thing as Mando, with missions and flying around. I enjoy the show on its own merits.

Thanks for the great recap. I would say to Vogel: Shand is getting to roll with Boba Fett: BOBA FETT! At this point she knows who he is, so a legend asking for help and she saying yes immediately doesn’t seem out of place to me. Especially considering he saved her life. He could have left her to die. And his proposal wasn’t too ridiculous.Go inside and get a ship. You could tell when she saw the map she had the skills to help a legend and pay the debt. Also, the bounty on her was most likely Dead or Alive so it makes no sense for him to save her. Boba was doing a good deed ( that had a personal benefit yes) which I would say isn’t done with fellow bounty hunters who don’t know each other personally.

I love the Mods because they break the inherent rules of the planet's aesthetic. Cyberpunk isn't just about cybernetics -- the punk attitude of rejecting a status quo and doing what you want to do in spite of your environment. It also reminds me of how people build low riders in the hood. I also connected with it because growing up in George Lucas' hometown a bunch of my high school friends and I dressed like mods and listened to a ton of British Invasion music. Cross cultural pollination is real. None of us could afford a vespa though. haha.

Without a doubt the number of people who plan to cosplay as Black Krrsantan at upcoming fan conventions and future sales of action figures based on that character once the toy line hits stores is going to be huge judging from his popularity from starring on Book of Boba Fett.

I can understand Rocha's point about how Shand didn't have a say in her becoming cybernetic, but I liken it to finding someone that seems critically wounded on the side of the road, you take that person to the hospital and it turns out that they need an artificial heart to be installed to save her which the doctors do then being told that you should have left them on the side of the road to die.
I mean, sure, if they were conscious and that were a choice, but to see someone critically injured and taking them somewhere so that they can be saved doesn't seem the most unusual reaction. Not to mention, cybernetic changes don't seem all that unnatural or unusual in the SW universe from Luke and Anakin's hands, Grievous, the cybernetic bikers, etc, it doesn't seem to have any kind of a stigma (other than maybe the degree to which the bikers are modded which Lortha does point out), either.

It is a slow build, and I agree on your misgivings, but like Laura, I am generally on board with most of it, and like Michael, am anticipating context in further episodes to bring it home and justify this approach. I expect that, as these last episodes will have no flashbacks and no more trailer shots, we're in for some big deal cool stuff.

I find the title of the episode should give a clear hint what to expect this time: The Gathering Storm. That is a slow, calm time before it goes bonkers. It is also the middle episode of the season, closing the past timeline and preparing the war in the present. I mean, there are 3 episodes of big conflict coming. It is the gathering of the troops, e.g. Black Krrsantan, etc.
I think this was Fennec's episode very much and after complaints about it, I think she did a lot here, and a lot of bad ass stuff, I don't understand that complaint at all for this episode.
Also, Boba is still learning how to run a criminal empire especially in a way not done before on Tatooine. He does and will make mistakes, that is natural, I believe.

After the fourth episode, I suppose the title, "The Book of Boba Fett" is okay. We are getting insight into Boba's character in a tv series we'd never get from a film. Each episode does show us a bit more, his affection for animals caught me by surprise. When we meet him in the original trilogy, he's a well known, successful bounty hunter. His demise in ROTJ showcased Han's tendency to live a charmed life. Even blind, he makes the move that saves him and Luke, but sends Boba into the pit. Boba had a near death experience, he went from the top of his game to the biggest crash of a career. His encounter with the Tusken tribe opened the door toward the concept of family. It occurred to me he has no concept of family after the loss of his Dad. Have we ever seen him in a successful relationship? How does he think he can run a house if he's always been a lone wolf? I am not sure what I was expecting from this series. The action sequences are well done but Boba chasing around the rabbit droid and threatening it is strange. How does a droid know who he is? It seemed a bit crazed. I guess I am thrilled to have SW on tv each week. I just don't believe Boba's career choice. He's not a joiner. I am hoping Omega walks into the series. She had a strong sense of family. I have no idea where she would have gone during the galactic war but the bright eyes and optimistic nature she had must have changed as she became an adult. I would think she knew about Boba and want to connect with him. Not sure he'd feel the same way. I actually think Boba is not going to make it. He should have stayed out in the dune sea with his tribe rather than challenge the Pike's. He's a terrific warrior but crime lord, it's not working.

Rocha called Din Djarin showing up from day one. Score one, Rocha. Also, as a pet fanatic, I'm a fan of Boba being an animal lover.
Vogel, you said not nice things about National Geographic awhile back, but not they have a whole series about 80's Top Ten you should be watching. It's hosted by Soda Pop Curtis, himself.
It didn't feel like Tatooine to me. But maybe that's what's good about it. Tatooine is suddenly more than just a junkyard and desert.
Firespray is the model and he's referring to it by its model. I wish it was still called Slave I, but it's not a huge deal. If the Falcon wasn't the Falcon any longer...that would be a big deal.

I enjoyed this episode and, frankly, I’m enjoying and continue to enjoy the ENTIRE Book. There’s a vast galaxy to work in and, as they are trying to tell Boba Fett’s story, you’re saying, “No. You’re telling it wrong.” The story isn’t finished yet (and what’s to say that the back allies on a backward hot sand planet don’t rebel and want cool, smooth, colorful tech from a center planet rather than an outer rim backwater? And they are two of the biggest Boss level bada$$es in the galaxy and, teamed, up, stuff IS going to easier for them than for others…BECAUSE they aren’t the normal level, they ARE bada$$es!). Normally, I really enjoy watching Geek Buddies and I was excited to start watching when it posted…then my hopes sank. I’m not sure I can stand to watch this full video because I’d like my RUclips friends (Geek Buddies) to geek about about the cool things I was geeking out about too and, instead, it’s been one rolling complaint to another. I keep hoping that you’ll get to the parts where I’m in agreement with you and we’re geeking out about the great stuff together. You’re killing me, Smalls, with all the jumping-the-gun judgements. Don’t you see what they are setting up here? What all they’ve explained/showed? How things are moving forward? What plot items they’ve already made and what they are headed for? There’s ALWAYS stuff any show has in reserve and we’ll get there, I’m sure. Just.Freaking.Be.Patient.

I am getting a little tired of this Male Female Male Female discussion every single time especially from John. I am a woman and I am all for having great roles for women but this getting annoying now. If it is Boba who wants to create his own house and Fennic is going along the ride with him then of course she is going to save his life show her skill and vise versa sometimes. Why does it suddenly became a Man Woman thing again. This show is about Boba Fett and all other characters are serving his story no matter what gender.
If partners in same gender relationship platonic or otherwise save or advise each other, it's not even discussed that X is supporting Y. But when it is a Man and a Woman, it's this weird competition. Why is a Woman advising a man to do this or vise versa. Why is that? Are two people not supposed talk to each other or what.
And Boba did not ask for permission to save Fennic when she is in no condition to answer is ridiculous. It reminds me of the lady who wanted moms to take permission from their newborns if they can change their nappies. Let's not throw all logic out of the window. What if she wanted to be saved any which way possible and not left to die, then what, she would be able to corroborate that either.
There is something about taking a stand for an issue and then there is something about going to the other end of being ridiculous.

Like Mike, and everyone else. Liking the series, but for 7 Ep's, this is taking too long to get stuff going. Now, Ep's 5, 6, and 7, could be 45 minute's to 1 hour each (PLEASE GOD I pray so), be packed w awesome stuff, and battles, which would get fan's really talking, and excited!....This was a tale of 2 diff Ep's in 1. 1st, 20 minute's or so, was OK. Hovering over the Sarlac, we all knew it would attack them. My issue, per se...that seismic charge would've OBLITERATED THEM. That bomb, going off in sand, which is dense and packed around it, like any explosion, the force explodes out of the area of least resistance, so while the shockwave would travel out, it would also be forced right up the Sarlac's ass, lol, and blow that ship, and them up..BUT ANYWAY...lol......the last 13 min's or so of the ep, was FANTASTIC!

It’s seemingly like the haters of the prequels don’t like that this show has more of the slapstick element that’s always been a part of the weird mixed up soup of Star Wars… this is already my second favorite Disney + show after WandaVision (another show more often criticized for what it wasn’t rather than for what it is.)

They can change the name all they want, it will always be SLAVE I. Firespray is a cool name (for the class of ship), but Slave I is fucking cool.
Same with our Wookie buddy. His name is BLACK KRRSANTAN. Again, Krrsantan is cool. But Black Krrsantan is fucking cool.
And he’s Disney canon so I have no idea why they are shying away from his full name. Oh wait yes I do….it’s Disney. They’re going to make sure that anything that was ever badass and cool becomes tasteless, soulless, bland garbage. It’s a damn shame.

Wasn't it refreshing to finally, for ONCE, not have conflict but a relationship just smoothly coming together between two people? Do we really need the Hollywood blueprint applied on every single scene? Agree with you on the friendly banter though, that would have been awesome!

You mean the LIFE blueprint. You’ve never had conflict with friends or family or coworkers??

@@JohnRochaSays Of course, but not with every single person I've ever met, which is my point. :) Conflict in movies these days is very predictable, and frankly overused, while straight up companionship is not. Not saying it's the right choice here, but it can be just as powerful if not more so in the right circumstances.

This is Boba’s show right. I get it John wants everyone to be equals, but this ain’t that show. The lead is the lead. This isn’t a co-lead show.

I just don't find the show interesting... the writing is boringly formulaic, the action poorly executed, and no one seems to be smart in this show. "Good" or "bad" guys. It isn't a bad show, it is just a filler for a network that needs new shows.

Love your breakdown, but I don’t think the points about how Fennec would feel to be modded (and saved) is a point that has any weight. Clearly she said “I guess I’m worth more alive than dead.” She understands or thinks she’s been saved to be brought in as a bounty. To twist this into a weird statement about women’s rights is a very strange take. And I feel bringing a contrarian view where none is necessary. It lessens the impact of those times when such conversations need to be had (which are definitely worth having in general).

    • @JohnRochaSays
      @JohnRochaSays  2 года назад

It doesn’t. Everyone has a line about survival. And if you’re going to make someone half machine for the REST OF THEIR LIVES, they have a right to have a say in it. Also, don’t forget, is he saving her to save or to save her to help him? The fact that you don’t see these very obvious issues to have in this situation is troubling.

@@JohnRochaSays By that logic, should Boba also be pissed about his human rights to kill himself every time Fennec saves him from dying? "Dammit, just let me get eaten by this Sarlacc, I never asked you to drop that Seismic Charge! - Don't touch my buttons!"
