NARS still makes damn good makeup products, IMHO. 🤷‍♀️ I’m not sure why people think they have to continually change products around or put out something all new. Their eyeshadow pallets are amazing. And their concealer is my all time favorite.
I said in another comment… it’s also nice that they don’t seem to change their lineup too much, because I can count on my favorites being available. Maybe other people find it boring, but I’m not bored with good quality.

The second part is a huge selling point for me - I can rely on them to not change or discontinue their hallmark products. It's not an exciting brand, but it's a consistent one and I really appreciate that from them.

Yeah, tbh I don't mind brands going outside of the box and what not, but some brands just have their signature *"thing"* and I don't think that's so bad. And brands like Nars have their thing and stick with it. It's more for the average buyer. The beauty industry is also SO different these days then it was 6 or so years ago when the stuff Nars, Buxom, urban Decay, etc, were all so popular and groundbreaking. Consistency and reliability is overlooked a lot these days. Nars products are still quality and beautiful.

Yes! I didn’t really have the money to buy their single eyeshadows, but they were so goth/ dark and definitely meant for the cool girl (or guy). I remember Gash (dark metallic red) Midnight Cowboy (Champagne with Silver Glitter) and Oil Slick (Black with Rainbow Reflecting Glitter)- and their Lipstick (one lipstick bullet split down the middle into two different shades- I remember the shocking Manic/Depressive shade) and I think they had super cool nail polish too. I've followed Kayln for years and years now. Not only do I think its impossible that Jaclyn never found this brand, one thats more then a clothing brand- but a full lifestyle community, I think the fact that when she was made aware of the other brand she didn't back down is gross. Koze was, and still is, a community of people, and to just bulldoze that so you can sell pjs is gross. Especially when the other creator just had her first child, and got hit with this amidst trying to navigate that as well. Its gross. It angers me a lot. sure, maybe it wasn't trademarked, but when you step back and look at the big picture its a gross move as a human, and you're valid for wanting to be done. I know I am.

I think a lot of the big brands got just as caught up. When influencers became a prime mode of marketing and one of their biggest tools was making their viewers feel "FOMO", big brands were incentivized to just pump out products to stay on top of being the "next big thing". Unfortunately, I think the beauty community really hurt the makeup business. Once they realized they could get free publicity by sending products out it’s almost like it became a race of product launches. Before, with these brands and especially MAC, they’d do a holiday thing, if they had a real improvement on a product or a new innovative product there would be a little advertisement. But mostly these brands were about their customers that loved their product and were very brand loyal because they mostly had products that were high quality all throughout the line. And thank you for this topic because it made me think (besides how insane it is that people support someone who shows they clearly care more about money) I wonder what good ole Trish McEvoy is up to? My older sister used her and MAC and I remember clearly she had some great stuff -AND SHE STILL OWNS HER BRAND!

The beautiful eyeshadows that used to be housed in recycled cardboard jars, the lip polish gloss that came in these cute metal oil paint tubes with tiny lip kiss prints all over them, the beautiful illustrated “Stila Girls” eye/ face/ multi palettes, their whole Stila Sport line. If I any money back in the day, I would have spent most of it on Stila. It’s just a totally different brand now, with no association to its former self. I still love their CC in Lilium though- I mix it with moisturizer to make a more sheer tinted blush for a natural look.

Seriously! Some brands I wish I could just let go of, but it's hard! NudeStix is one of those for me. I Love their eye shadows and the blush sticks. I have hooded eyes and brushes are hard for me to finesse with powder shadows because of medical stuff. It's not like they're not dupable either lol. I loved the Daydreamer collab. It's weird especially because I always end up loving their collaborative products more than their regular ones...

I love NARS! They have a solid lineup, a solid range and keep good formulae and shades around. They are a reliable starting point for makeup users of all ages and all skin types. They also have some fun to play with items.

Nars does iterate a lot... But I gotta admit their new power matte lipsticks are amazing. Transfer resistant/proof, creamy and vibrant

Im surprised you didn't mention too faced 😱 All their powders are muddy and not pigmented enough, mascara is drying and flaky. I just haven't tried their concealer + foundation.

I like the coverage of the Born This Way foundation, but I swear Too Faced thinks that everyone is part banana! lol Even the cool-toned foundations lean super yellow!

I’m so glad I found this video. I recently heard of Jaclyn cosmetics but didn’t know anything about the brand. Considering their poor business tactics and disregard for others I won’t try the brand . Thank you for posting and sharing how Jaclyn and Koze operate.

I agree the Urban decay primer potion is a staple in my personal and professional kits!

Im a subscriber to your and other beauty channels long time ago… I love makeup… but i realized I love to watch make up rather than owning it, lol. I’m so glad I knew all this before even spending money I don’t have in a beauty routine. To me, beauty doesn’t have to be that expensive 😂 I can’t see myself spending too much money on this. I would include a lot of brands like pm, Tom ford, charlotte whatever, even Natasha denona… lmao. I live in Mexico and I’ve been using this mineral makeup brand for ages, it works wonders for me even at my ege (southern magnolia minerals) I can buy in bulk and reduce my taxes and shipping expenses. I’ve bought some stuff from Colourpop since they have free shipping but that’s it…. With that being said, I love to watch all these beautiful ladies like you, trying makeup and I can get some joy from makeup that way. But my wallet is inmune to all this trends. So thank you Jen . Regards from the Mayan riviera xx

You called it correctly with Jaclyn. In all her launches there was only 1 worth a damn and that was the OG Jaclyn palette with Morphe. Now they changed the formula to that. She's just too shady for my taste.

Thank god someone spoke up about Jaclyn. I used to love her, I watched her older video’s over and over again trying to learn makeup from what appeared to be a kind and fun woman. Now she has shown her true colors and I can’t believe other influencers who still support her. The lying about the lipsticks was bad enough for me lol

I have decluttered all of my UD products slowly but surely. Totally agree on Jaclyn. Have never and will never buy anything from her. I have also unsubscribed to anyone using her products. Thanks for sharing. 🥰🥰

I love my NARS products. I have three products that I have repurchased and are staples in make-up bag: The Liquid blush in Orgasm, their soft matte concealer and the light reflecting foundation.

Marshall's has Jaclyn Hill stuff now. I'd never buy directly from her but out of curiosity I did get a lip liner and liquid lip. It's... remarkably average - like Kylie lip kit average. I've never been a fan of hers and glad now that she's outed herself as a truly awful person I've never given her money.
I love Buxom glosses. I still occasionally buy them since I love the feel and the scent (it's tootsie roll!). But I agree that they are doing the same things that DuWop did. Who else remembers DuWop?

Bobbi Brown's concealer and spot corrector sticks are fantastic. I guess it's grown folks makeup (over 30). They are definitely making products for people who aren't looking for themed collections (make up revolution and colourpop). Seems like most of what you try and call out on the channel is PR and I guess you aren't on their list.

💯 % agree with the brands! Im 52 and loved the older brands decades ago, but no creativity or innovation these days. Go with ur gut re: shady business vibes
