  • While hiking in the Swiss Alps I was able to observe Alpine Ibex in their demanding alpine habitat. In this video i will explain their amazing biology, adaptations and why the are known world-wide for their seemingly gravity-defying climbing ability. I will also explain why the almost became extinct with barely 50-100 surviving individuals to a complete come back and return to their original range across seven europe countries in a broad swath of the alps.

Very cool goat type critters. One would think they would starve, with no greenery around. Thanks for the video Frank.😊

Alpine Ibex are amazing climbers. I would like to know what their predators would be ?

Originally alpine Ibex evolved with pressure from Mountain Tigers, wolves, lynxes, bears and foxes many of which have been extirpated!

Thank you for the video. They are amazing animals. You use a word which I have never heard before: exstrapadate or ecstrapadate. I can find no spelling for the word. Could you please list the spelling. Thank you.

So...and I likely grossly mispronounced it but...here are some words...EXTINCT: A species that no longer exists. EXTIRPATED: A species that no longer exists in the wild , but occurring elsewhere. ENDANGERED: A species facing imminent extirpation or extinction.
