  • This video was inspired by a comment on my "TRIGGER buttons exploration"
from a gentleman by the name of MyOneManBand -
"Quick question... Does your command station allow different presets to be saved and recalled in each pattern?"
One of the seemingly odd behaviours of the workflow on the Command Station, is that a PRESET assigned to a CHANNEL in the current PATTERN is not retained if you select a different PATTERN - unless an EVENT or NOTE information has been recorded into the TRACK.
    So, I find that a PATTERN contains TRACKS (T1, T2, T3 etc.)
Each TRACK can be assigned to a MIDI channel eg C01A (Channel 01, MIDI A), C02A etc.
If the TRACK has any NOTE information recorded (even if it is only the shortest note possible), then the TRACK will retain the PRESET which has been assigned to it.
However, if the TRACK has NO information recorded, then the TRACK PRESET changes to what ever PRESET the next selected PATTERN has assigned to that TRACK number.
This can cause some confusion, especially if, say, there are PATTERNs which only have a few TRACKs recorded.
Each PATTERN that you change to, will alter the PRESET only for each TRACK which has recorded...
Which means that seemingly random PRESET changes happen whilst switching between PATTERNS.
Hope there is some use in this for you 😊
