LaserSnake2 - Laser cutting for nuclear decommissioning at Sellafield - a world first.

This film shows a world first: the LaserSnake (a snake-arm robot with a laser cutter) successfully dismantling redundant equipment in a radioactive area of a nuclear facility. Working in a reprocessing plant at Sellafield, the LaserSnake was used by OC Robotics and TWI, together with Sellafield, to cut up a dissolver vessel. The culmination of a project part-funded by Innovate UK, this versatile and cost-effective system could transform many nuclear decommissioning tasks.
