Popular games from CN studios (delta force, marvel rivals, and those from riot games which tencent fully owns) require kernel access to "prevent hacking".
Most other games do not require this, its highly unusual. Free rootkit anyone?

I mean when you think about it is it really that surprising? Considering Bytedance is a Multi Billion dollar Multi National Entity with nearly 150k+ employees. Tiktok isnt even all that they do, they've got a pretty diverse portfolio and I can only imagine the amount of money a tool like this would save them in the long run considering that an average developer in Bytedance is now essentially a 10x developer and actually good programmers are even better, they save money by lowering labor hours and probably laying off a bunch of entry level devs once they have something mature. Unexpected? Yes, surprising? hardly

There's a slow shift in LLM handling occuring. Since GPT-4, the concept has revolved around the idea that the "smarter" model is the most capable one, therefore it should do all the work which has a lot of downsides: 1) it's unnecessary to fill up context with simple tool calling results and other noise, esp since almost all LLMs start degrading performance heavily after 64k context 2) on the flip side, it's a waste of tokens and money to have large models output content that isn't necessary for the task like code that hasn't changed. That's why Windsurf uses a fine tuned 70b Llama model for grep, regex, terminal results etc.
I think most of this year, the biggest boosts to AI performance in coding tasks will come from smarter engineering regarding their interop with IDEs and sandboxes

    What Information We Collect
User Content. When you interact with the Platform, we may collect code, text, photographs, files, feedback, chat history, or any other content that you may upload to the Platform, and the associated metadata (such as when, where, and by whom the content was created).

if your highest priority is ensuring your source code remains private, then you might want to read their Terms because:
There is no explicit confidentiality clause.
There is a broad, perpetual license that allows reuse for service improvements and “business operations.”
The platform can share your code with third-party providers.
We need a private or self hosted version of this for it to be really viable for developers.
I would not recommend putting any real code on this app unless you are okay with you code being used elsewhere for whatever purposes deemed necessary.

I have a very bad feeling about this, especially because it's a bytedance project and knowing what those guys are up to in other arenas makes me feel solid when I say I WILL NOT be using this software one bit.
I don't trust their privacy policies" nor do I trust their ethics, I will even go as far as to predict that they will be data mining users for really good ideas and projects/ solutions and also training whatever A.I they want to come up with that they are 1000% going to do to have an A.I that can actually code like humans if not better than fullstack developers. I'm calling it right now.

Cursor the company you are the investor of - provides the same two models for free under a daily limit and
I believe it just puts u into the queue once u over it.. I don't use it, so someone can verify..
Claude 3.5 sonnet is not more expensive than the other models
on the market and is generally less expensive than GPT-4o for input tokens, but the same price for output tokens
