Floyd HAS NO WEAKNESSES, you better pray you catch him in the first 1-3 rounds with something big like Shane Mosley but actually put him out otherwise every minute that goes by he’s gathering information and it’s pretty much over from there. Floyd is gifted like some of the greats of all time the difference is he’s not there to please everyone, he’s there to win and that’s why some call it “boring” but people who are obsessed with boxing at that deeply know it’s beautiful everything he’s doing. The micro adjustments he does that 99% will never see let alone understand or appreciate is the reason why he’s 49-0 (McGregor don’t count)

@@anthonyb5036 so your basically saying he’s able to adapt better than literally everyone he’s ever fought pretty much like I said no weaknesses in his game. Boxing is like you either have it or you don’t no amount of training will ever be enough for 99% of people Floyd is that 1% who are born to fight and are molded by it to this day I’ve never seen a fighter who’s as aware as he is in the ring the only one who even comes close is a prime Roy jones but even he wasn’t as perfect as Floyd because Floyd was way more defensively responsible Roy relied on his reflexes and speed but he was susceptible to punches trying to be flashy. I’m Mexican and when people say “Floyd would of got his ass whooped by Chavez like his uncle did” I laugh because no one will ever truly understand Floyd isn’t just a Philly shell guy like his uncle was he’s literally mastered every guard like this video points out always giving different looks when you think you got it figured out he switches it up he’s literally unpredictable it’s never a 1,2,3,4,5 it’s 2,5,3,1,4 there’s no patterns in what he does because once you do figure it out its already too late he’s already changed the punch selection.

Floyd does nearly everything perfectly. In fact when you find fight analysis videos showing a fighter doing something wrong and getting caught for it, you can usually find a clip of floyd to use to show how to do it properly. Floyd can fight at all ranges. inside, midrange outside. he can fight going forward or backward or laterally. The few times he got rocked like by mosley he never panicked. I was just thinking of that the other day how Joshua panics when he gets pressured or rocked. And there floyd is to show what to do when he got rocked, dont panick and grab and hold to recover.

Absolute class of a video! This was an excellent breakdown. The analysis of his offense, especially his pull counter and his unexpected, fast attacks, was spot on. One thing I would’ve added is a bit more about his L-guard in the inside game, which he uses to pin his opponent’s guard and put them in uncomfortable positions.
The defense part was also amazing I really liked the shoulder roll section. The breakdown of his long guard was excellent as well, showing how he uses it to create defensive traffic (I personally use this a lot).
I’ve learned tons from fighters like Mayweather, Ward (Skillr's breakdown was perfect), Bivol, Stevenson, Klitscho for my outside game.
Thank you so much, Skillr Boxing, and keep up the great work! I’d love to see a breakdown of Shakur Stevenson one day!

    Great video skillr!
Covering the greatest p4p boxer of our generation!
Notice the use of Floyds elbow for an additional defensive layer, frequently used to parry and create space for counters while putting the opponent off balance!
Floyd lets himself get hit a lot, knowing that hes gaining a positional advantage since hes not being hit clean!
The right counter is unbelievably fast since his position only requires a quick twist to go from defense to offense, which is usually multiplied by the opponent moving in on him!
Notice the several forms of guard mastery, combined with extremely evasive footwork, keeping himself safe from over aggressive opponents!
Notice the jab to 'pin' the opponent's high guard! Mayweather can follow up with any number of strikes, but opts for an extremely unexpected body jab off the same hand, which changes levels and sets up a followup right if wanted!

The problem with what you’re saying is if you haven’t trained and mastered a strategy or technique in the gym already, you ain’t gonna pull it off against one of the greatest boxers of all time on fight night. Even at elite level, a lot of boxers don’t have a plan b cos plan a takes so dang long. The ones who have a deep tool bag and are resilient can make adjustments. Very few boxers even showed that against Floyd. Zab Judah comes to mind, but for every adjustment, Floyd matched him. Maidana exploited a wonderful tactic/trap; Floyd adjusted. We never saw how deep his toolbag went on account of no one being able to match him physically or iq.

Floyd specifically used the right hook, more than he usually does the right straight, against Cotto likely because he wanted Miguel to keep a solid wedge block from the right hook and making it harder for Cotto to counter and land with his best punch, the left hook, compared to straights that can more easily be slipped and parried into counters (faster but easier to block and parry to the side than hooks coming around your guard requiring somewhat of a stiff arm to block hooks (which isn't the best way to defend them, rolling under by far the best option, whilst straights depend on the situation - slip, roll or parry depending on situation and opponent are all effective to defend & counter)

With the head leaned forward, you either go all in or all out. This means your head is just at the edge of range to where there's the distance to react to shots to make a reflex-type decision like pull counter or your head is fully in their chest so there isn't room to fully load on shots and Floyd fights on the inside or used escapes.

The 2 close fights of his career, Maidana and Hoya all throw combos from close range, which is the best tool against the philly shell. That still doesn't mean it's his weakness, but the way one may beat him.

The only way to beat Floyd is infighting. Floyd will always beat anyone on points because hes that much better. Close the gap and use upper cuts and body shots it will eventually take a toll on him and open him up. But I'm pretty sure he knows thats his weakness which is why he loves to control everyone with the jab and with clinching and "running".

  • @okachobired5856
    @okachobired5856 3 месяца назад

Floyds biggest weakness was his hands were always getting injured. Which made his wins that much more impressive. A few strengths the video didn't touch on was his chin. Even the shots he did take he was never knocked down one time. Floyds stamina was also superhuman. He became faster as the fight went on and didn't tire.
