You have to understand that a lot of kids don't give the first attempt seriously because they have boards right around the corner. I tried attempting every question in my first attempt in 2023 and got 80 percentile and grinded for the second one and gave it properly and got 99.2 percentile. The difference in preparation wasnt too much but the mentality while giving it was a lot different, which led to a high marks gain. So its not necessary that kids cheated
No potential 100 percentiler will make the mistake of not giving first attempt seriously. All coachings advice you to get maximum marks in 1st attempt so that they can focus on advanced from Jan itself and skip the April attempt. Also no one can reach anything more than 99.9 without getting atleast 99.5+ in first attempt unless they were sick or something in Jan even then the minimum they would be getting is 98.9+

Last year one of my friend scored 80 percentile in first attempt.. we all were shocked cause he used to come to school everyday and bunk classes with his gf who was in class 9.. and then in second attempt he scored 50 percentile.. well he is SC so he got NIT of our state.. well I am not a jee aspirant so I don't know that much about jee and maybe 80 percentile is not that much.. but that boy was not someone who would score 80!!
He is just the person who doesn't deserve to get into a NIT, so 14 lakhs student give JEE, 80%tile means his rank was around 2.8 lakh. Being in the top 20% students it's still not a big thing. Top 1% student ( talking about general ), are the real chads.

There is a person near me in aakash coaching.
His jan result was 60 percentile (27 jan 1) and he jump directly 99.9(rank under 300) (6 april 2).
I dont know it is his effort or cheating because he had also given cbse exam .

I agree, am an example too. In first I scored around 90 and still got 25%ile, and in second attempt which marks were definitely better than first one, got only 60%ile but the jump of %ile

@@ananyachoudhari77 nope many students score top rank in mains but not went to iit bombay because both exams level are extremely different. Like I will give you an example we know triggered insaan he scored under 1000 rank in mains and 10000 almost in advanced difference of 10x
And many students get 20000 rank in mains and 2000 in advanced.
