A day picking cherries in Lasithi in Crete, Greece

It was about time to decide and go on a short getaway to Crete. Always feeling very excited to revisit this part of my roots. We arrived in Heraklion on Saturday morning from Pereus in Athens. Then on Sunday we went on a roadtrip to the Lasithi region crossing the mountainous area Lasithi Plateau and arrived at the Tzermiado small village and countryside to harvest and pick wild Cherries from a private farm of friends and field area over there. It was an unforgettable experience learning all about the collection of cherries and also picking wild herbs such as Maratho *a different kind of fennel that they use a lot in pies in Crete. We also picked up some artichokes and enjoyed the day in nature.
