Basically, this is Cujo with the Monkey instead of a dog.
Cujo had a more realistic version of rabies, but I would think of this movie like Cujo, without all the boring bits lol. Once the movie picks up, it never stops!
When Caesar makes a horror movie.
Ironically, Caesar is directing a movie this year, but it's that Animal Farm remake with Seth Rogen.

That’s what I like about Cujo, that one scene where he is teetering on the edge of completely losing himself and he uses his last bit of sense and self control left to get himself away from his boy. Especially in the book, where there’s segments of the story from the dog’s perspective and it gives you more of an idea of how the virus was taking hold of him little by little and how in his head he didn’t want to hurt anyone or be a “bad dog”. It was so tragic. You could definitely get feels like that out of a chimp in that same situation.

They should make a movie where a crazy killer/cannibal actually turns out to be someone who got rabies. And when the police find him, the movie finally reveals that he does have rabies.
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought the film score sounded reminiscent of John Carpenter.

This got me thinking that the sequel has potential to explore different animals and imagine the third movie the rabies infected a whole zoo and people must survive in them
That sounds like a cool concept. Especially if they make it fun like this.

I loved the closet scene, my audience was kind of noisy but the entire theater was silent during that part because they wanted to see what would happen

I’m surprised that neither you nor the director brought up the real life case of this happening with Travis the chimp. He didn’t even have rabies, though it is believed he ingested medication that caused him to go on a rampage.
His owners gave him Xanax to try and calm him down because he was getting agitated. The Xanax pushed him way over the edge

I’m convinced that the events in this movie would still happen without the rabies. Those animals are evil and will attack you for breathing wrong.
It has happened before. There was a real life case of those scenario happening, with the whole pet chimp thing too. The difference is that nobody died except for the chimp himself.

@Strawberry_DespairYa that story is what made me terrified of chimps.
Travis was on a drug that gave him negative side effects that caused him to lose his shit due to his owner being uninformed what this drug can cause in chimps. The lady who got attacked even said Travis wasn't really bad and that it was the result of his previous owner not realizing what she did(bless that woman!) Chimpanzees can be aggressive when they get older, and I do think its risky to have one as a pet, I don't believe these creatures are inherently evil though.
Unfortunately though, movies like this are just going to feed into that stigma that people already have about these animals.

Being from Hawaii, yup rabies is highly monitored and there are very strict rules when flying pets here because to keep it that way. That being said. Seeing pretentious rich, non locals get whats coming to them was a blast lol

Yes the thing that misses with the movie is them showing the lovable side to Ben and how it they say Ben is family than why not show him when they had him when he was a baby them taking care of him and than actually show us how he got rabbies and show the transmission much more slowly I think everything just went to quick on him turning on everybody
That’s what I said. It felt so chopped up and skips over things that need more explanation and attention. Where did the mongoose with rabies come from and who gave it rabies? Where was the sister for so long that her sister was mad at her? What was with that silent beef with the two girls that liked the guy friend? And I’m so very sure the best friend of the main character was gay for her and nun of it never got touched on, not even a little lol. The emotion would’ve made the deaths worse because I would feel for the characters, I felt nothing towards them. And who builds a pool off the side of a CLIF with no barriers??!!!

Johannes Roberts to me is an underrated director I love his movies from The strangers prey at night to V/H/S 99 segment, Resident Evil Welcome To Raccoon City I'm excited to see this! Fun fact about the composer it's the same person who did the music for The Strangers Prey At Night

I watched this movie last year in April for a test screening in LA and I really liked it. But for some reason when watching it again I was going in curious if they did any changes. And it’s pretty much the same as it was last year just with the final edits made you know.
Maybe it’s because I already saw it but was still expecting to see some changes or something you know. It did feel shorter tho again maybe just because I saw it already so I know the major beats of the story. But I remember it being longer for some reason and emotional like I feel like they cut out a lot of the dialogue but I’m not sure.
Either way, i still enjoyed it especially with my friend that went with me to see it. I totally forgot how the kills happened but I remembered who it happened to. Literally everyone died except the main characters at the end but it was a gnarly death at the end sad but gnarly.
It was amazing to me finally they didn’t use cgi for the chimp maybe they did but it mostly was practical

I saw this movie last night and was actually surprised I thought it was going to be terrible but it actually had me scared
That last chunk of the movie is what saved it for me. I was struggling to stay awake before that. I will say the death scenes,are probably. Some of the msot brutal,ive seen in recent horror. Also that kinda malicious chucky vibe,that Ben had was pretty funny.
Even better idea to the rabies animal formula, a zombie movie of only animals who contracted some super mutant rabies and humans needs to survive a zoo full of these rabies infested monsters

I would recommend a similar primate goes nuts film called Link, whilst the chimpanzees and orangutan don't contract rabies the orangutan does go on a rampage.
