The name "Tiger" is already given to the attack and observation helicopter. The KF51 is a full mbt, heavy weight would be a downgrade to every aspect of a mbt. Composite armour is way lighter and stronger than only metal sheets.
That big cat is a pure predator but….. First problem I see is the new gun caliber is outside NATO standard. Second problem is the current Leopard 2A7 is better than anything it will fight on any battlefield. Third problem is that Germany's procurement system for new military equipment is a complete and utter disaster, thus it's likely to take 25 years to field an armor combat brigade with this tank. Sorry but I think this is just a Rheinmetall export effort. Maybe one of the Emirs in the Gulf will want to buy a couple hundred. It is a sexy beast after all.

French definitely didn’t work on it. This German tank uses a 130mm gun, whereas the French are going with a 140mm future gun. The French future gun uses a cased telescope round under project ASCALON. In terms of terminal energy I think both would be similar.
