    I just got the record store day half speed master of Red Rose Speedway yesterday and it has really sparked my interest in the album. The pressing sounds fantastic and the album is very charming. It has some of my favorite Paul moments.

    I want the LT /BTTE deluxe archive so bad this year!!..Ram is my favorite album Egg is my favorite Wings album.. It's so nice that people realize how great those records are because I was around when they came out the 1st time in the seventies and they didn't get good reviews st all ..I felt like I was all alone..

      I thought "Back to the Egg" was just alright. Can't compare it to all his previous albums. He did hire two good musicians for that album. "Steve Holley and Laurence Juber.
      But he really didnt need them. Just Listen to Band on the Run or London Town. two perfect albums. I just dont know what I disliked about the album?

    The 2nd Wings album and the 2nd to last Wings album... spooky!
    I listened to London Town again at work today, it is definitely a phenomenal album! I really love Cuff Link and I’ve Had Enough! There’s too many great deep cuts from both of those albums.

    It first took me awhile to get into London Town as upon release I learned they were back to a three piece after Jimmy McCulloch and Joe English had left the band. It was my favourite Wings line-up of 1975-1977. I’m hoping they release a deluxe edition

    • @garychambers5850
      @garychambers5850 3 года назад

      You would never know they were *3* piece again unless told. When I first bought and listened to " _Band on the Run_ " back in 1973, I thought it was
      the entire band with *Henry McCullough* on Guitar & *Denny Seiwell* on Drums.. It wasn't.. Paul played the drums and did a fine job at it, an he and Denny traded
      Lead guitar parts. 🧡🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️

    RRS is a fantastic record. I never understood the criticism it received. It's beautifully mixed, has beautiful vocals and harmonies. It's a gem to be sure!

    Oddly, roughly half of RRSW is great, as is roughly half of London Town - maybe they can be combined to make one really great album! Love them both though - some real deep cuts on both albums

    • @garychambers5850
      @garychambers5850 3 года назад

      Thats your opinion. Others, like myself thought both albums were great as is! I guess you have to be a die-Hard McCartney/Beatles fan 🤗 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🌺

      I am a die hard McCartney / Beatles fan - it doesn’t mean I have to like everything he/they have released though does it? I’ve played RRSW a lot more recently, and it’s become one of my favourite Wings albums. London Town though will never quite make the grade for me - Famous Groupies in particular is just too poor imho........

      That, in effect, is the story of Paul's career after The Beatles. He & Lennon both wrote most originals. They all suffered the loss of quality input post 1970. RRS certainly not overlooked in its day but by LT Paul's heyday was over.

    I like Red Rose Speedway, its different but enjoyable. I like the medley on side 2 even though the songs don't really flow into each other like the Abbey Road medley. I have a German pressing of this album.

      @@BrianBringelson I compared my US copy to the German copy and to my ears the German copy is more on the low end and the US copy is on the mid range to higher end.

    IMO Red Rose could have been even a very good Beatle album , just add on it a couple of Johns songs, one of George, one from Ringo

      Agee 100% - I've always said RRS could have been Abbey Road 2 - very Beatle sounding to me. And London Town is is in my top 5 Paul albums

  • @moonbeamskies3346

    I've always thought Red Rose Speedway was first album where Paul did a fully produced blockbuster like Abbey Road. The sound is great, the songs are great, the lyrics are a bit weird. I like the booklet too, it's really wild and raunchy.

    I have always loved Red Rose Speedway. I remember when I was 13 years old riding my pushbike to a record store to buy this in 1974. On the way home, I crashed my bicycle, yet somehow managed to not damage the record. I still have that copy & it still sounds fantastic ! All the best (GAZ - Melbourne/Australia)

    Hey Brian!
    Should start calling these "pressing discussion" or something. At first I thought these were some sort of review of the albums instead of selling a particular pressing
    Wish to see reviews back tho!

    • @BrianBringelson
      @BrianBringelson  4 года назад +1

      Matipedia to be honest they really are my reviews of both albums. Yes I’m selling the best pressings I’ve found, but even after these have sold the videos will remain with my opinion and the various bits of info within. In addition I call it a album discussion because that is truly what it is.

      Don Maley Back To The Egg will be getting it’s own video. I love that record so much. It’s totally unique to Paul’s career. He never made another one like that.

    2 excellent albums I bought when released... Bought " _Red Rose Speedway"_ in 73' ( _Love the side 2 melody_ )🧡 and _"London Town"_ in 78' ( _Love "Famous Groupies_ ) *Jimmy McCulloch* & *Joe *English* Quit the band leaving Wings back to the 3 members again, like they were for the " _Band on the Run_ " album which sounded great, even without " *Henry Mccullough* & *Denny Seiwell* ".. Still listen today. both albums.. Paul's music is way better than whatever's out there today! 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️

    The problem with London Town is it's bad sound quality. I think with a good remaster or remix it will shine bright. I own the LP and CD from 1993, both sound so bad. Listening to the Singles Box, where some songs from London Town are remastered it did not really improve.

    Red Rose Speedway is indeed an underrated album. London Town not so much. Apart from the gorgeous "With a Little Luck" and some other interesting tunes such as "Morse Moose and the Grey Goose" London Town is underwhelming.

    RRS would have been awesome as a double album with one qualifier - the live material should have been on a separate release with the studio versions of The Mess, etc. included on the RRS double album. I just don’t consider double albums with live material to be true double albums.

  • @garychambers5850

    I had no idea about the pressings. That does make a lot of sense even though, I think every pressing should be all be good as the next.
    I would hate to buy the album that was the last before they re-inked LOL.. *Ringo Starr* has, or had the #1 pressing of _"The Beatles White Album"_
    Man, that has to be awesome. But I'm not sure if his is Mono or Stereo? 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🧡

    I agree that Red Rose Speedway could've actually benefitted from being a double album, I feel the Wings sound overall is underdeveloped on the record but it is fantastic. London Town has some good songs but I just don't feel like it has enough edge, there's a fair amount of filler and too much country folk in my opinion, I also don't love the production on it.

    To me London Town is a competent album with state of the art sound and production but lacks the power of a truly great album. It never really takes off like Who Are You by the Who or In Through the Out Door by Led Zeppelin. It's the point where it becomes apparent how Paul benefited from having the other Beatles around 10 years earlier.
