The Village was the first thing I saw Bryce in, and I'm not gonna lie, I kinda fell in love with her, she looked so beautiful and she was so good in it
The Lady in the Water was an imaginative and excellent film. I am a production designer and I loved it so much I ended up seeing it three times. BDH was fantastic!
Watched The Village very recently (Google knows that, hence this video popped up in my page) , beautiful movie and still very enjoyable after these years.. Bryce's performance was exceptionally good...
I am sure it’s a blessing and a curse to be in the shadow of her father, with all the connections. People will always wonder if he gave her the role as a way to connect himself to gain favor with Ron Howard and others. And, given that his last film, Trap (which was horrible), was basically a publicity move to hopefully jump start a music career for his daughter, we now know he will use his projects for personal promotion. That said, generally he is a good film maker and Bryce was deserving of the role regardless of who her father is. She killed it in The Village.
While it's admirable that the Director advocated for Bryce to receive more than minimum for her role, it's not like he lost anything in doing so. The Village (2004) made over 250 million dollars at the box office, and hundreds of millions of dollars in DVD Sales (Back in 2004, DVD sales were a major component of a film's revenue)
I gotta say: I was MESMERIZED by her performance in lady in the water. It’s a shame the film gets so much cynicism now, I was taken away by the story and remember sitting at the end in that children’s choir version of The times are a-changing and being very moved.
To give a bad performance and in the same week see a famous director in an audience and have a fleeting thought he’s going to want to make a movie with you is pure sub conscious privilege and nepotism at play. I like Bryce but the story could have been summed up as, well my father’s famous.
I’m sure that could be part of it, but thank goodness she was able to get her break cuz she’s an amazing actress in many things I’ve seen her in and we’re better for it.
It’s an amazing thing when people in power go out of their way to help others.

I wonder if her experience would've been any different if she had different parents.
Shyamalan does seem like a decent human being though.
Come on now lol
The Village is one of my favorite films. I did not see the turn coming at all.

Those who can’t perform, criticize those who can.😊
A critic's job is to give an honest review. She admitted that her performance wasn't great and said the review was fair.
Love M Night and his earlier work. But I do wonder if he was trying to win Ron Howard's good graces.
All the concrete i poured is still working
You can audition to be a toaster operator
Nepotism cos of her daddy… that’s how 😂😂
