"Harming a neighbour may lead to Hell-fire: Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him reported: A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! There is a woman who prays, gives charity and fasts a great deal, but she harms her neighbours with her speech (by insulting them)" He said: "She will go to hell". The man said: "O messenger of Allah! There is (another) woman who is well-known for how little she fasts and prays, but she gives charity from the dried yoghurt she makes and she does not harm her neighbours". He said: "She will go to paradise" (Ahmad, vol. 4, p. 166, Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 2054)."

It was so hard to control my tongue and never talk back to my abusive ex husband but Alhamdulillah looking back I don't regret my kindness and my silence even though he called me names and harmed me so much. I've read somewhere that salah prohibits wrongdoings. If we're doing our salah, but still does sins, we need to check again our salah, the tajweed, the wudhu' ,etc, something may be wrong somewhere. And we must learn how to correct it and perform salah properly. May Allah guide us to the right path

How many times do we need to be reminded of the devastating power of the tongue. This is more prominent in women. Controlling one's tongue is an action of patience. The tongue on its own can devastate and destroy almost anything. When nice gentle words come out of someone's mouth, everything and anyone around you should be happy and pleased. May Allah (swt) guide people away from this great sin.
