    One of my favorite tracks in the album. I was originally going to upload this to my backup channel but whatever. I wanted to compare the game's music charts to a music instrument transcript so this video came to light. It also gives me a visual idea as to why some of you, the real drummers and gamers with a drumming experience, prefer to use the game as an alternative to reading notes than an actual music sheet that shows more detail. This links to other questions I see such as whether Rock Band is a good beginner's tool to learning how to play real drums (as mentioned in iBitePrettyHard and Someguy913's twitch streams in the past). I'd like to hear what you guys have to say down in the comments on why you prefer one or the other for reading music notations. Anyways, hope you all enjoy this fine musical and educational content.
    There will be a full band video of this song coming afterwards. All of the PIII drum charts will be updated overtime with corrections and other changes. You'll know they are update when the 'Pre-Release' tag is removed from the archive filenames. The other PIII drum charts were previewed in Calibration_God's Twitch stream: / calibration_god
    The tabs were done with Sibelius 7 and is strictly based on what I charted and hear. There may be slight differences and lots of room for minor errors here and there but that doesn't worry me too much.
    ---
    NOTES:
    - The Phase Shift version of the chart in this video is in Real Drums Notation. The Rock Band version of the chart is in PRO Drums (or Adv. Drums in PS).
    - The tabs were done a couple days before the charts were updated so you may see slight differences between the tabs and the in-game charts
    - I removed the vocals and slightly lowered the volume of the other tracks since this video is focused primarily on the drums.
    - While charted based on stems, always assume accuracy is at 99.999%, repeating of course.
    - V-Neck required (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    I prefer Rock Band tabs for just churning through stuff. Like, getting on the kit and just sightreading a bunch of stuff. Your charts have been great for doing just that. I think part of the appeal is how cheap it is on the memory. I mostly forget the drum charts that I play along to, whereas when I sit down with sheet music, it takes me slightly more time to process, and it tends to stick better.

    Wow this is over the top great. Thank you! Never seen anyone add the tabs before.

      I prefer drum chart for playing through and getting a feel of a song before going into details and actually learning all the notes. Drum chart is also fun cause you can play along a song you've never heard before :)

      Can't find the streams you talk about in the description about using RB to learn real drums. Sounds like an interesting topic.

    Amazing chart man, love it! One question, how did you record the tab? Is there a Guitar Pro versión that allows you to record it like that or you did it manually?

    • @BloodlineCustoms
      @BloodlineCustoms  4 месяца назад

      I manually recorded it and edited to sync. This was when I was using Sibelius; did not have GP at the time

    Is the actual rock band track with or without vocals? I want to play without vocals so I can hear the drums much clearer.

    The actual transcription is what I watched and it just made me realize exactly why I find this band boring, no matter what the time sig is its just a bunch of basic beats filled with useless ghost notes. I can see thier appeal to people but from a drummers viewpoint its insanely boring. Still sick job in the transcription and charts.

    how do you chart Advanced songs like this do you use the drum tabs or is there a trick to make charting faster for drums i want to chart more 2x bass songs but i dont have the time

    • @BloodlineCustoms
      @BloodlineCustoms  7 лет назад +4

      Charting accuracy relies on many factors: using multitrack stems, using music sheets/tabs, using playthrough/cover footages as reference. In addition to those is knowing the musician's playstyle, gear and setup, understanding the sounds you hear and knowing the techniques used to make them, familiarize and depict sounds in the mix (so you don't question whether its a splash or a hi-hat), know how patterns/fills are executed, etc. Know that with more resources to reference, the easier and quicker you can get done. If you have a good ear, then that's great too.
      Charter/transcribers analyze the song from the ground-up. Accurate charters will use one or more of the following methods I mentioned and it takes time depending on how long and complex the song is.
      Using this Marigold drum chart: I used stereo drum track. It's not stereo flipped so I know a floor tom will come from the right ear. I used Matt Halpern's playthrough video as reference to ensure sticking accuracy. He likes playing ghost notes so I'm extra aware of soft snare sounds in the mix. He often used the Moeller technique so extra cymbal charting is there (in the tabs, accents have a > on top of them and softer hits in-between). In PIII, he uses more toms (3-4) compared to PI (2) so I should take that to account.
