Took a bit longer than I thought but Happy Chaos Tips and Tricks is here! So I will have to say off the bat, dude is hard. He's weird. He's difficult. He's like learning a new language basically, cause there's nobody really comparable to him in any fighting game. Frankly, he's too much for me! I have done my best with this video to help get your feet on the ground with Happy however I feel like to really get the most out of him, you gonna require a bigger brain than old man rooflemongers broken & busted grappler brain to max him out. That said that shouldn't be too hard so get at it! As always with the bigger vids if you could spare a like it would be sincerely appreciated 💪🐵
i came back to GG:S cause happychaos, ive watched other vids but man yours blew them out of the water. organized, useful info that was only in yours somehow. only tip i'd have is maybe give us a basic gameplan with what moves to focus on for players just trying the new guy out, because after watching this i feel i know a ton but as a newer player im not really sure how to play matches with him (so ive been playing against AI for 2 hrs lol). awesome vid tho
I just picked up strive as my first real fighting game, and decided to main him based on leffen’s gameplay from combo breaker. This guide is absolutely amazing, and it’s like the best translation of this complex character I’ve seen. Thank you for making this as in depth as it is!
Alright so its a bit down the road but when Baiken hits, expect her to get the big royal treatment like Happy did, probably moreso maybe! For the near future sounds like something might be doing down thursday(and we are streaming along so join the rooflemonger twitch channel thursday!) Baiken will get her own ridiculous history video near Christmas, maybe I finally have time to work on that T.Hawk video, and who knows what else!
For someone who prefers the more simple or aggressive sort of character, you have explained Happy Chaos to an absolutely masterful level. Very well done.
Imagine if he had some sort of “Shooting Wild” mechanic I remember a Dreamcast game (Zombie’s Revenge?) where if you knockdown you could spray bullets before hitting the floor. You MAY hit a zombie… or not XD
Appreciate the tips man. I can not wait to see your Baiken tips and tricks when she releases next month. Either way I'm loving Happy Chaos. He's quickly become of my fav characters in the series.
Here is a tip for players who play with dualshock: If you use the default button layout, swap HS and D, you will now fire the gun with R1, and for anyone with some kind of shooter games experience it´s going to be lot more natural. You'll have to remember to grab with the circle button, but is a small price for this
man, that's quite a good idea! I'm kinda accustomed to the layout i use now but i'll try it nonetheless. It's less for the fps feel than for the negative edge. It's easier to keep your finger on R1 while using the face buttons than O. In fact, except for R2 you can use all the other buttons while you keep your finger on R1. A good idea, a really good idea. Of course you can still use R2 with your other finger ( dont know the english name for the middle finger ) but i dont use it a lot .
I've been waiting for this as I have lots of fun with this character to such an extent that he is definitely going to be my no.1 main from now on! With your video as a guide, I can officially start the grind, BIG thanks BIG roofle! Appreciate the time and effort you put in!
You my man, single handedly have made my understanding of this game and is characters totally manageable. You're very good at explaining things, I'm a rather slow learner and you have been super helpful!
One reason why I enjoy playing Happy chaos is that I'm learning how to escape certain characters pressure without the use of a dragon punch or good buttons. Even though it can be frustrating
He's definitely great and my go to for news and analysis, but this is a pretty damn big site there's probably some out there making extremely high quality essays and such. Definitely a super cosy and reliable source but there's probably ones who soar to greater heights, from style of content alone, smaller guides/discussions are good and important but have a limit of how far they can go (but are strong with release rate and general availability) This content is very good and presented about as well as it can be but there's other less frequent content formats that concentrate a lot of effort into a more edited more precise format. Definitely the most reliable and trustworthy source I've found though, consistently a nice look and discussion about different series. Definitely my favourite of this form of content though, real dedicated and go to member of the community.
Your videos allow me to pick up new characters without 20+ hours of fumbling about trying to learn things myself. You do a fine job of balancing succinct lessons where applicable with elaboration when necessary. I am grateful for your efforts.
Thank you very much for this guide, roofiebomber. I was having trouble fully understanding this gun man, but this guide helped me understand everything
What an absolute help this guide is! I absolutely love this character. I don't know why, but just the idea of having infinitely expanding possibilities and options (outside of defense of course) makes me so excited to play this guy, even if I do get walloped a lot trying to implement new stuff. Keep up the good stuff roof, soon I'll be a Baiken main once you show me her crazy powers 😂
Thank you for casually working in the idea of laissez-faire economics at 5:43. That's really why I watch your videos. The pretty colors are nice and all but the breakdown of simple and complex micro/macro concepts is what keeps me coming back.
Id say the two gauges are slightly different in that you can't fire the gun w/o bullets, but w/o concentration, you can't enter gun stance. If you're out of bullets but have concentration, you can still use the launcher move for bulletless combos
thank you for the video! i'm new to strive, and i appreciate all the effort that went into this! you have a way of explaining things that makes even newcomers understand. c:
played the game for the first time yesterday and yeah, happy really does feel like a really complex character with the most basic of gameplans. honestly just putting 2 and 2 together and figuring out that the gun doesn't just take up a ton real estate but becomes the real estate itself is a ton of fun. picked him up as a bit but I'm addicted. help. - the last remaining dbs broly player
All videos have see for now everyone plays Happy Choas differently! Infiltration does super zoning or DEB does super pression and godlike hit confirms with aim stance. Really impressive charaters design. I try to main him but this is hard asf xD
I've noticed that if you can cross-up in the j2k pogo, you can dust to catch them if they're lackin. If you stay on the same side, js should work, though I know that you need to shoot to make it plus on block
Lmfao I just decided Happy Chaos looked interesting enough for me to check out a guide on him. As usual, Rooflemonger has me covered. Thank you as always!
I’m fairly new to this game and I seen some gameplay of happy chaos which is the entire reason that I bought it. This guide has tips that I could not find anywhere else just basic information about the character and things that I never would have found on my own. I have the most trouble with getting myself into situations where I can begin to combo either do fat fingering a button or accidentally mashing bc I’m trying to do things to fast in training mode I can pick up and learn combos all day long but that means nothing if I cant get to use them in a match
I don't think I saw this in the video, but SonicFox last night when going over Happy Chaos with Yipes, showed a dead simple 200+ (w/ Wallbreak) zoning combo. If you have the buff from Focus (214 P) or Super Focus (214214 P), you can do three Steady Aim (214 S stance) shots, and finish with the overdrive (632146 S). It's pretty easy to charge up focus in neutral when you have distance (& once you get in the mindset to always cancel Fire into reload or focus when you have the distance/block stun/hit stun). And then with one Steady Aim Fire shot hitting, you can turn it into better damage than most of the cast get from midscreen combos without meter (even if the Overdrive ender is left out). As far as him being the hardest character, at the highest play level that might be true, though I still think Zato and Jack-o are more difficult in general. I can't speak to Zato (he seems like the hardest character to me hands down with the Eddie micro-managing), but I played Jack-o as my main the last 2+ months. While the combos are not difficult, she has the pre-requisite of having a goon out in the right place to even do close to the damage other characters get with midscreen non-tension combos. Goons are so easily dealt with in neutral, and even if the Jack-O player gets you in their potential end game/goal (in the corner, surrounded by Goons): Burst will clear all Goons, even ones with either of the OD buffs, and Yellow RC destroys non-buffed goons. I've seen some hard combos with her (off RCs, summoning a goon and continuing the combo), but never seen them used in a match, and even then, their damage output didn't seem worth the effort of getting the tight timing down. To compare with Happy Chaos, he just gets more for less effort. Fire from even At the Ready stance does the same damage as you get from connecting with a thrown goon, and Steady Aim Fire does more damage than a punted a goon hitting, and you're doing way less work, with less risk (considering the variety of quick stance cancels HC has). On top of that, Happy Chaos, even for a player like myself, has way better combo damage potential; the week 1 HC BNB I'm using atm, eclipses Jack-O's most ideal combo's damage. And you even get a similar benefit cancelling into negative edge Fire off blocked normals as you would with using the Goon attack (214 K) to end Jack-o's block strings; sure it's not +15 on block, but you can do it almost anytime if you're managing his resources. You invest time into Jack-O, to get average/below average damage when the stars align in a match, whereas with Happy Chaos that time invested gives you pretty good damage output (in a few cases combo damage from ranges no other character can get) and tricky/annoying stuff your opponent has to deal with from the start of a round.
Something important to note. If you are behind the clone and the opponent hits the clone's back, you have to block that crossup. It's very odd, but against Leo's crossup, his 236HS, if you're behind just a bit and stuff, you need to move towards Leo or you will get hit.
Came here looking to understand what HC wants/can do so I can think of a counter, but so far all I have is "block the poke and hope to god the player across from me is bad" so that's... interesting! 😅
I'm trying to listen, but everytime I hear "IT TOOK ME 10 YEARS TO FIND THE ANSWER TO SOMETHING I FORGOT ABOUT IT IN 2 SECONDS THAT'S ABOUT IIIIIIIIIIIIIT." in the background, the monkey part of my brain activates and I start popping off, help?
I hear HC is hard to handle, but I've mastered him just fine. But that's just me It's all about resource management and replenishing when your opponent is away or down.
This dude is so fucking funny to me. The grandest strongest magic user of the setting who at this point is strong enough to warp reality and his special power/gimmick is ... A GUN
I can somewhat say give it half a year at least to see how good this guy is, there’s way too much theory going around circulating chaos that he practically has the most potential out of all the dlcs. And that’s pretty big saying considering people are still figuring goldlewis and jack o.
Love the video and really appreciate all your hard work! Have you seen Gobou's HC at all? He's the only pro I've see play him primarily as a heavy zoner with some insane resource management and god fingers. In one match he literally zoned the poor nago for 40 seconds straight. In another he zoned Axl XD
Haha thats the thing. I haven't watched Gobou, but I've watched Kaz and he plays Happy like berserker rushdown with non stop pressure with the gun. Goes to show how freeform the character is
Is the negative edge a big factor in his gameplay? I've been messing around with him and just tapping HS when I need to shoot hasn't shown any problems. To the point where I didn't even know it was a negative edge till now. I'm not doing anything passed basic stuff though so I could be missing the impact of it entirely.
Anyone else struggling with the corner-right input being eaten when trying to combo from 6K or 2D into 236S? My dpad keeps registering 26S whenever I try to buffer gun-pull for a combo, and I can't seem to figure out why this happens :oo
Hi, you said there isn't really a hardcore zoner in Strive, does Axl not count? I've not really played any other fighting games so I don't really have a frame of reference
Roofle with the amazing guides as always man... i hope you do tutorials on that DNF fighting game.. it looks extra sick. As for happy chaos... i love his concept, but i dont think it fits my playstyle.. i main Ken and DBS Broly... that already tells you that my brain can't handle hard characters LOL!
I still feel that jacko is more complicated than HC. He basically does her pressure but with an easier system. More resource management sure, but it's pretty simple.
jacko makes a lot more sense to me than happy does honestly in the early stages. Maybe more mechanically difficult in that you gotta move your hands faster, but shes not as wide open as happy is
One nice trick with him since he can do combos that consist of normal > 6K > H Gunshot > another normal loops (it's only an example, you can go about it in many ways), he is actually one of the better characters for setting corner wallsplat setups. For those who don't know, usually when you splat the opponent against the wall but don't break it, opponent can immediately tech out in the air BUT if your combo never launched them up in any way, they will slump to the ground after the wallsplat then recover. Happy Chaos gets insane mileage from this because the combined duration of the wallsplat and slump is VERY long, which means he can recover his concentration with 214p then reload 3/4 bullets and STILL get a meaty from it while keeping the corner. Of course, sometimes it's better to break the wall, but if your combo doesn't kill, but a reset will, it's very worth considering going for that reset since it lets you resplenish all your resources for free to pressure them into oblivion again. It's only one of the many many things that are discovered over time. This character will get more and more grime as time goes on, which I can't wait to see!
Took a bit longer than I thought but Happy Chaos Tips and Tricks is here! So I will have to say off the bat, dude is hard. He's weird. He's difficult. But I think baccpack's 10 min neutral guide is better to form an actual plan around the character.

It's all about resource management and replenishing when your opponent is away or down.
So yesterday I ran into my first Happy Chaos in the tower.
Hmm... hi.
I dont even have gg yet and i plan to main hc. Now this is likely a bad idea but he looks fun so why not.

Are zato combos harder than Chaos combos to learn granted you are not totally new and you know how the combo structures generally work
3:33 Say it SLOWER 😂
Hold up Chaos 5K is 6 frames ? Mah man got the Johnny stanky leg
How do I reload my gun lol
Happy Chaos locked how do i unlock him ????????????????????
It's a DLC you have to pay real money for it
how to unlock ?
It's a DLC Just buy them in the Store and you're good to go
Anyone else have trouble doing a super right after a steady shot??
If you don't have any concentration left you can't do the super
I’d love to watch the video but I really wanna listen to drift

is fixed, im tired please forgive
When people master him he is going to be a nightmare to play against 🤦🏾♂️.
So I’m really new to the series and decided to try ram (big swords go swoosh) so if you have a guide I’d appreciate any help :)
This guide makes HC feel way too difficult for casuals to learn
He is too difficult for casuals to learn, for the most part. He's easily the most complex character in the game.
guess im kinda late to the party huh guys
