I just found out that this was called "Tomb Raider: Director's Cut" where I live. I guess that's why I have never heard of it, as I grew up with the PC versions of TR 1-4.
I love this game! The heart beating and the hard breathing sound effect is one of the best background music effects ever! And this is 1996. Maybe everyone that makes games should check on this
You got years on RUclips I love this channel I remember your castlevania and zelda uploads, congratulations to hitting near that 700K it will not be long before you hit that cool mil sub mark.
Absolutely incredible game for its time the graphics were jaw dropping. It had a great story and great gameplay. They should do a HD remaster of the first 5 Games.
My first jumpscare was the bear in the first TR-Game in the beginning. And after this the gorillas at the collosseum. I heard about Unfinished Business, but never played.
WOW! Extremely cool! I can't wait to play this! Had to idea it existed! That last 30min or so look GREAT. I wish they could have made high res cinemas for this! Still, great level designs.
Ever wondered how or why there are Leopards,Crocodiles & other animals in a sealed of place with no food source ? well the thing is, Lara isn't actually an Tomb Raider... with her immense wealth she create sets to roleplay. :3
Got it totally free from the British PC Zone magazine back in the day when Game Magazine include a CD (or Floppy before CD Roms) that include various patches of the latest games, utilities like Zip or latest Graphic Card drive or Direct X. In this day and age, this Unfinished Business probably would cost you 5 bucks to download
Hanferd I remember I heard about these expansions/extra levels back in the day, and heard they would only come out with magazines in the UK, and I was super pissed because TR was my favourite series, but I live in Italy so I thought I would never be able to play them. But nowadays you can probably just buy them online for 5 bucks. Perspective ;)
Tomb Raider created a super clever game engine, no wonder they were able to release so many games in so little time. The original TR is still one of my all time favourite games and it's sad that they aren't releasing any new game in that style of 3d exploration. Nowadays every game is about shooting, or free roaming. Even the newer TR games are like that.
P Ferreira Yeah, QTEs as well. I want to explore caves, calculate my jumps with precise tile geometry, find triggers to open gates and only once in a while shoot very few enemies. Goddammit.
@KrossoverGod The problem with most triple A titles today is there is no gameplay. Same problem with The Last of Us, Life Is Strange, Uncharted etc but people seem to like that lack of gameplay.
P Ferreira Yeah. I usually take comfort in the indie scene, because I have the theory that big budget dumbed-down triple A games are a new thing: basically in the 80s and 90s all gaming was niche; now we have indie companies for the niche gamers AND big-budget AAA games. So we're percieving as if the industry got dumbed down because the most successful games of our youth were more clever than the most successful modern games, but they are completely different categories! The most successful games today are dumbed down for the dumb large public. The clever games are still there, they just aren't as talked about. We're distracted by the fact that companoes and IPs moved from the niche to the large public. With all this said though I still have to find any modern game, indie or not, that recreates that adventurous exploration feeling from the original Tomb Raider games.
@KrossoverGod My only problem with a journey through Steam is how absolutely anybody can take an existing game engine and release a game on Steam for profit. What then happens is you get pretty much 50 games released within a year that all exactly look like each other.
48.17 for one level? You got amateurs here. :> Its a breakthrough they announced on Shadow of the Tomb Raider that hard mode removes the white paint hinting to ledges to jump to. We were playing hard mode without those hints since the classics, nowadays its just been dumbed down for kiddies who rather not explore and put effort into a game.
I have TR Anniversary lying around and still haven't finished it. For some odd reason I'm finding it boring. Whereas, I managed to finish the marathon aka TR 4. Don't really know what's wrong with the game...
TR4 is in my opinion is THE BEST from classic Laras. It's ok that you find earlier game boring (TR Anniversary is first TR with new graphics) Pace of all games changed. Older games in general demanded all your attention... sometimes without showing much.

This is a Tomb Raider game I have never heard of. :O

Me too. 🤭
The Unfinished Business/Gold expansions are PC exclusives, which is why you may have never heard about them.

@@RachelKark that's so weird, are they in the game when you get it on steam, that's so weird.

Ladies and gentlemen THIS is proper Tomb Raider, not that 2013 Rambo reboot crap.
Facts
That reboot was good, piss off.
@@ColossalKilla Nah, it wasn't Tomb Raider.

Is it just me or Lara can hold her breath longer underwater in this expansion than in original?
I think they know more what their doing, so they can get Lara to cover more ground.
