You can use mirrors to use this system in places where the sun is low.

I'm considering a solar air heater (screen in a box), that then heats a water thermal storage tank. Also cheap to build, low weight for roof/wall mounting. No freeze/drain-back issues.
IF (big if) you can put all or some of the thermal storage tanks inside* the rooms that you want to heat from the thermal storage. Then you will have no heat loss from the thermal battery as it will be "leaking"...heat into the area you want heated anyway**. Depending on the season, you could use reduced or even no insulation for the thermal tank. Although insulation give you more control of course.
(*same concept applies no matter the original water heating source)

The water in a box design (without the heat exchanger coils) could provide for easy drainback. Seems best to use with a reflector since the pool can't be tilted, lol.

Thank you. I am setting up for a wood fired hydronics heating system, with the exterior boiler being a cheap gas hot water heater necked in as the flue of a smoll rocket stove.
Or I might use Methanol, we'll see.
But the idea is to keep the fire outside of the tinderbox that is a Caravan. I shall then pump the hot water into the "Tiny House" and through a car radiator with a 12V fan.
I need to add some thermal mass, which will provide heat buffering and storage for at night when it isn't going to be burning.

yes, using a heat exchanger is better than using the water directly, you can also use same idea or circulate water or a anti-gel liquid to a DIY solar collector

Hi, can you say the total length of the spirals? I thought the white tube was 40 meters but is that 40 meters considered on spiral by it self? If so , I believe you mentioned several spirals. I appreciate your work very much and continue to pray for the safety of you all. Christ bless and keep you.

thanks very useful, but u can cover the stiroform with box tapes or duck tape to make its life longer and to make more efficient in not loosing heat also ,and u must seal where the hose is in and out the stiform with plasticine for kids, and try a bigger stiroform box ,and cover the upper glass with transparent tape,so it could be more protected

    Hello, great videos!
Can you make a video of how can you use a solar heater together with a conventional gas boiler?
Can they work in parallel? Can the water from the solar heater get fed into the gas boiler and reduce or eliminate the gas usage. How do you connect the two without manual intervention to use them both at the same time when solar alone won't do it 100%. thanks!

    • @unionse7en
      @unionse7en 2 года назад +1

in series, not parallel, just feed the solar preheated water into other heaters of your choice, the conventional won't turn on if it deems the input water is already hot enough,

Dear Yurko. congratulations, but, olny, please - as my constructive criticism - why mr does not store 40% of the solar hot water hourly produced day-to-day to use for up to 23 hours in a small airtight stainless steel thermal enclosure until cheap (covered with styrofoam plus mylar) and where the proven hourly thermal losses are to be only just 3 degrees / hour ???

You know you could probably preserve Heat by closing a lid over the heater at night and then opening it again during the day period no different than opening and covering a spa lid.
    Ah! blanket!
Could you address the issue of the sun's angle with a simple mirror?
