    Before DAWs Yamaha ruled multitrack. The AW4416 was the big dog motorized faders, up to '10 takes per channel', awesome effects, hard drive, burn to CD and indestructible after almost 800 hours. This is extremely efficient, no more mouse & less staring at screens. I love it~!

      Setting up groups is probably the easiest I've seen in one of these videos, but it's also a total grab from the QSC touchmix.. The icons instead of numbers was put in that first. I still think Yamaha did it better though.

      I agree as I have a Touchmix 16 and I really like it. Interface learning curve not so bad..it is a very powerful
      mixer. I chose fast 64 gig thumb drive and have recorded 8 tracks and 2 track MP3 files, no problem. Get an SSD drive soon as it needs fastest read/write speeds.

      I asked Yamaha if they could make a more portable version of this on Twitter. If they had one that would drop in a 19-inch top rack under 14-inches deep, I would probably have to find a way to buy it.
      Do you think the QSC could be used for recording film audio effectively? I figured drop-in several UHF wireless lapel mics.

    My console is locking up. Audio still passing threw but faders are locked and screen also frozen. Only fix is to reset but this is not possible during a live performance. Any suggestions to fix or work around?

    Very nice; what he is not telling is that the presets are a limited amount of not so much affordable mics from those manufacturers; nothing was done with AKG presets , Audix , Newman, EV which have lots and lots of nice mics too. So unless you have the specific mics they have in the presets, that preset feature is of no use to you, but Yamaha wants to make it a good selling point anyways I am guessing

      Well yeah but I feel like that is up to us ,the audio engineers ,to start from scratch, edit and save our own customized preset to which ever brand you have
      That’s really awesome from my point of view

    • @sniggity

      But it does give you the ability to set our own presets, right?

    These are still overpriced here in Australia they're $2500 or so they need to get entry level digital 16 ch mixers down to $1500 - $2000 I'm sure other companies will soon do it.

    I have a question relating to the TF1. I'm a newbie so please don't laugh at my questions! LOL!! I don't understand when you say the TF1 can mix 40 channels but only has 16 faders. Where do I mix channels 17-40? and where are the inputs for these? Also, since it has a built in interface, can I assign 8 tracks from my daw to channels 17-24 via usb and use channels 1-16 for live instruments/vocals? And mix all these together before sending stereo out or to Aux's? I am considering the TF1, so my questions relate specifically to the TF1

      +Arnold Gelderbloem Music on mixers like these theres a particular button assigned to toggle between number of input or output channels .. Example 1 to 16 a one page , there should be a flip button to change the page of inputs...

    hi. How is the latency on the USB? Could it double as an audio interface? Thanks

    • @yamahacommaudio
      @yamahacommaudio 8 лет назад +2

      +Antonio Duarte The USB port on the back of the unit is meant to be used for audio interface with a mac or PC. The USB2.0 interface will support 32 mono channels and 1 stereo channel to be transmitted both in and out. It will work with the CoreAudio driver on the Mac and ASIO compliant PCs. Therefore it can be used with your favorite DAW.

    • @AntonioRockGP
      @AntonioRockGP 8 лет назад +2

      +Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Very nice! But my question was really about latency... I have a Line6 M20d (I love the mixer) but the usb to DAW feature has so much latency it is unusable as an audio interface. Of course it's only a problem when overdubbing, but overdubbing is what we do all the time in the studio...

    • @yamahacommaudio
      @yamahacommaudio 8 лет назад +1

      The latency is highly dependent on your system resources for your computer. I can say the latency fits within the USB2.0 guideline to be class compliant.

    If the Shure SM58 EQ was set up by a professional, I would ask him to find some other line of work.

      The high mid frequency they are adding to that SM 58 will make the vocals sound extremely poor. A better EQ for an SM58 is the following:
      1) All vocals should have the lower frequencies rolled off. These new digital consoles allow you to change the roll off point. have the vocalist singing their song while you make the roll off adjustment. It will be different for each vocalist, and more so between male & female voices. Once you've found the highest roll off point where you're not removing a nice lower tone from the voice, take out a little more than you need. Counter the roll off point by boosting a frequency somewhere near that roll off point. Move the boosted bell curve back & forth until you find a nice lower tone for the voice. Failing to do this will result in a shrill and/or thin voice. Some songs may not need this, and that difference can be adjusted on the fly during a live performance. Considering this is a digital mixer you are going to have thin problems to deal with, and so the addition of a lower frequency bell curve boost is essential ( I would do this even if it was a non-digital console). Counter this with compression in order to stabilize the low-mid frequency. You want to push the low-mid boost into the compressor. The frequency compressor will do it for you but may sound slightly different. I prefer frequency compression over compression.
      2)The addition of a cut at the sibilance frequency is a must when using SM58s, and 6kHz is a good cut point (but not a dogma). Sweep the frequency up and down to find the exact sibilance problem point. Make sure your vocalist is singing while you make this adjustment. If the vocalist is too busy (they are always too busy). You can plug the lead singer's mic in at the console wth YOU making the "S" & "T" sounds. The exact sibilance EQ frequency is different for each singer, and you can make that fine adjustment once the lead vocalist begins to sing. Although, nothing beats the immediate feedback of your own voice speaking, and you making EQ & compression changes. You can add a shelving boost at around 12kHz. This high-frequency shelving boost should be the only thing in the mix that you add. If you add at this frequency on any other instrument you will have problems hearing the vocals clearly.
      Lastly:
      Make absolutely certain any corrective EQ is being done to make the mic/voice sound better together. Don't use console EQ to correct room resonance problems or you will have horrible sounding recordings. The above improper EQ setting looks like it was done in a room that was improperly tuned, hence the improper mic EQ.

    When you go to guitar center asking about TF series they always say: "ohhh I dont know much about it, ohhh the guy who knlwa about TF yamaha is not here, ohhh I am not sure about it. I cant help you on that cuz we dont have it in here". .... so, they are good for nothing at guitar center. And I visit guitar center almost every day. I know what I am telling you in this post.
