Mariah's voice has changed some since she first came out due to her age and wear and tear, which is natural. I cannot believe that some people think that every singer is suppose to sound the exact same way as they did when they first came out. Mariah was 20 when she first came out. She is in her 40s now. She still sounds better than a lot of new artists. Some new artists cannot sing without autotune. If it wasn't for autotune they wouldn't have a singing career. Good looks can only get you so far. Also, if Kelly did say that about Mariah, then when Kelly can show 18 #1 hits, 5 Grammy Awards, and over 200 million albums sold, then she can throw some shade.
Deon Abrams go back and listen to that first album and hear the power and subtlety she had. She was THE singer, one of the best of all time now she is struggling and wouldn't get past the auditions for American Idol she sings like an amateur now.

Mixed thoughts on this one. I must side with most people and say that Kelly should have not taken the low road, especially after backing up Mariah during the earlier years. I do like Kelly's music too and, Kelly if you feel that Mariah has a gimmick and you have a problem with it, sort it out with her directly. Don't talk behind her back. I speak as a lamb - there is *NO DOUBT* Mariah is not able to sing live, like she once did, the notes are still being reached in the studio, and sometimes live, but they are harder to get, and her middle range isn't as rich. HOWEVER, she is singing songs like 'Almost Home' in the studio, songs that are are complex and challenging as anything she sang in her younger days. She still has the voice of a generation, hell, the century even! Mariah isn't 25 years old anymore, but unlike other singers who's voices left them, or destroyed them themselves, Mariah's instrument is still beautiful and just because it's hit and miss live when she's in her 40s, doesn't mean she can't still produce gold. Why does it take for someone to die for us to respect them? What is up with Wendy and her continual Mariah hate?
Mariah had to work really hard to get where she is now. Writing all her songs, doing the back vocals of all her songs, producing, etc. She said herself that she spent most of her time at the beginning of her career in the studio working and very recently she said that 8 hours of sleep is a luxury she cant afford. I cannot believe that some people think that every singer is suppose to sound the exact same way as they did when they first came out. Mariah was 20 when she first came out. She is in her 40s now. She still sounds better than a lot of new artists. Some new artists cannot sing without autotune. If it wasn't for autotune they wouldn't have a singing career. Good looks can only get you so far. Also, if Kelly did say that about Mariah, then when Kelly can show 18 #1 hits, 5 Grammy Awards, and over 200 million albums sold, then she can throw some shade.

She still has the voice of a generation, hell, the century even! Mariah isn't 25 years old anymore, but unlike other singers who's voices left them, or destroyed them themselves, Mariah's instrument is still beautiful and just because it's hit and miss live when she's in her 40s, doesn't mean she can't still produce gold. Even if she was talking about Mariah, kelly needs to know that Mariah is a 43 old woman with a world wide success. She's been singing around the world for more than 20 years. Great for Kelly that her own voice is still in shape, because it shows the amount of her success (or the lack of it). Mariah's voice would be in good shape too, if she only sang in small places and had only a couple of shows to perform. Kelly should be ashame to even speak Mariah's name. The funny thing is I used to wonder why Kelly Price never became a MUCH bigger star than she was UNTIL I watched her on that R&B Divas show! THEN it all became clear! Mariah has been on the scene for a very long time and I think that Kelly is jealous. PERIOD! EEVERYONE KNOWS that a singer's voice changes over time!
