in a shit load of pain but still listening to this my ancestors literally moved dancing around the kitchen stomping crying laughing wow thank you.just moving all I can say.
Actually never had music hit me on such a fundamental level. I've been searching for this song for months after hearing it on Dead Set on Life, then randomly realized that Shazam exists and it brought me here. Thank goodness the search is finally over. Thank you for your phenomenal sound. It's made me want to revisit my old pow wow days.
There are many reasons I understand this music hits you so deeply. One of these reasons would be the fact that the shaker is doing 3 notes while the bass drum does 2. He's superimposing 2 rhythms that dephase for a short time and catch up with each other real quick. Our brains keeps trying to make patterns with things, this is slightly irrational for our brains to follow, so we get fascinated by it and entranced by it.
@@coolwatergreensky Yes, I appreciate the attempt at simplification, though it doesn't really capture. There are some songs that just strike your heart in a way that no others do. Being native and wanting to connect somehow, but never really having the ability to do so because the map has been erased...this song feels like a bridge back to it for whatever reason. It's more than it being different. It's like being home, when you've never felt home.
It's funny how certain type of blues or Soul or classical music or native song/dance evokes some crazy spiritual feelings. Not everything is capable of capturing these types of sounds and emit so much energy. Keep doing your thing. Being a fan of dnb breaks, metal hip hop, folk, blues, ect. This hits in many ways.
Coming back to my roots I love listening to all your tracks and others like Supaman, DJ Shub while I rock my ribbon skirt and leather wraps going to work not afraid of my identity anymore
Oh my goodness what have you done here! And why am I only NOW finding it?!!! Where's the bow down low emoji 🙏 much respect! And lots if appreciation!! (I could have been listening to listen for YEARS!!)
MAD LOVE FOR ALL OF YOUR PROJECTS MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU WITH THE MONEY THAT YOU NEED TO FULFILL WHAT YOU NEED TO FULFILL TO SAVE ALL OF YOU!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Was down at the Oneida Nation of the Thames and they were bragging about you so I checked you out and I'm a fan - just on your merit of winning the DMC 2007.. I'm an ex comp Turntablist and you showed mastery of the art at the time when people were jumping to Serato. Good On ya.
I found you! lol This is really, really cool stuff you're making. I've recently discovered this genre of music and this is seriously some of the coolest electronic music being made. I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, but this really stands out. Not native, but a fan. Love the sound! You're probably my favorite DJ.
I've been on the dex since 1999 and this is some of the most inspiring stuff I have seen in a long time I can't believe I am just getting hip to this in Arizona. Thank God for my own digging I'm going to do my best to show this to f****** everybody your work is amazing those videos made me cry. I am not native but have worked with Gila River Pima salt River Navajo and Hopi tribes in Arizona andhave learned so much about the culture and have such an appreciation for and the way you present the pageantry and dances and your interpretation of the songs you do coupled with the respect shown in the videos is so touching I cannot wait to see more work like this from you the visual aspect adds so much to the production and I appreciate what you are doing so much that you are probably like the fourth comment I've ever made to an artist publicly. Much support much respect much love.
The intro could have been a little shorter for the album version im sure it sounds amazing in a crowd of thousands with biiig speakers but studio version coulda been cut a little shorter...the song starts at 1:50 for those waiting for the beat to drop.

Hi there that’s relatable
Six Nations native walking my days amongst the world and these beats keep me safe on my journeys.

Basically he’s saying it sounds nothing like white music and that’s why it’s interesting lmao
