Another good idea if borrowing someones gear or renting, check the size of the reserve. Because you might be jumping the smallest main you ever have landed but the reserve might be smaller than the smallest wing you've ever landed.

Great discussion on the EPs and different canopies. How many chops do you have thus far? "Wash your gear, maybe thats why the girls aren't talking to you" lol

I have a lot, almost 20, a few due to long term gear testing

I always use a pull up cord as the ass strap cause I can removed it if I put the wingsuit in :) and yeah, I also take it with me if I have to pack outside

Regarding hard pulls on the reserve handle. A rigger here on RUclips suggested putting your knee inside your arms and using it to help the punch-out. How viable is that? It seems really sketchy. And for a beer or two: how much does it suck to jump on January or February in Évora as a student? Can students use skydiving gloves? According to chatgpt temps can go down to -20c at 14k.

The knee technique I believe was coined by Colin, it is 100% worth doing as a last case scenario. Prevention (pull test) is the way to go. We always pull test at my loft. It's suuuuper cold but manageable. Students take gloves during this time of year

Thanks. I've decided to go to dream fly in Lisbon in January, and wait until February or March to get back on the good stuff, hoping that the tunnel time investment will be worth it. I'm going there right now, and I'll be asking if they only have tunnel rats, or if they also have AFF coaches or instructors... 😅

If anyone else happens to want the same information. They said they have one aff-rated instructor. Everyone else (with only one exception) are fun jumpers. Starting my tunnel time tomorrow.

@@Jump-n-smash Yeah... being an "AFF rated instructor", meaning you once had the rating, is not the same as actually being a current AFF-I. Regardless, have fun! Say hi to Matt and Frankie for me!
