Why is this young man in his school uniform and drinking beer! It appears that he’s being defiant. Many of these young people are seemingly living their lives in a daze, going through a fog. They will soon realise that their bad behaviour will get them nowhere, but in trouble.
It appears that these kids aren’t afraid of anything. They feel like the worst that can happen to them is to die. That is not the worst. Try envisioning someone taking a bullet and becoming a quadriplegic, whereby he requires someone to care for him 24 hours a day seven days a week. It happens. And all they have is enough time to reflect on their circumstances. 😢
Of course I don’t wish that for the young man or any person. I would like to see these young people thrive, particularly that young man. He has so much going for him. He’s handsome and obviously sociable, gregarious. If only he would love himself; stop bleaching his skin; and pull up his pants he would be off to a good start. He’s a handsome young man. He needs to love himself enough to be kind to himself. He just needs to start there, and get onto the right pathway.
Trust me, everyday in my profession I come across people who did not die by a bullet, but lived. They cannot help themselves. They depend on others for everything; and sometimes the people around them are unkind. It is a difficult life. I do not want that for anyone, and certainly not for this young man.
I hope this young man will begin to pay attention. Focus on making a kind and decent life for yourself. Things are difficult for Black people already. Don’t make it harder for yourself. I am praying that he will become more focused on a better approach.
