Not True Al Aqsa is not building but the whole area is called Al Aqsa. Within in Al Aqsa there are 5 Mosque: Dome of the Rock, Qibli Masjid ( which you call Al Aqsa) Buraq Masjid, Bab e Rahmah Masjid, Marwani Masjid & Old Aqsa Masjid Basement. For your information, Dome of the Rock they do 5 prayers inside. Separate from the Qibli Masjid. And only Jummah they do it together.

In Islam, a synagogue is also a Masjid and The Temple in Jerusalem like the The Temple in Mecca nicknamed the "Ka'ba" are also Masjid.

She is correct. The golden dome building is actually a commemorative building or simply a Muslim monument, not a mosque. (I ever heard that it is Umar's monument). The structure of the Dome of the Rock clearly doesn't look like a mosque. As if it was never intended to be one. Just a great monument, a landmark, not a house of prayer. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the black dome building. The Quran writes "the Al-Aqsa Mosque" not "the Al-Aqsa Compound". Just 1 mosque, not 2. Building two mosques there was not logical, coz it would be against the Quran's statement. The claim that the black dome mosque (the Al-Aqsa Mosque) was just built as a qilbla/directional building is simply misleading and illogical, coz why would people bother to build another mosque so that it just functions a qilbla for another "mosque"? People can simply build a certain simple sign to help determine direction. The Muslims occupying Jerusalem at the time certainly were not stupid. Plus, the Temple Mount area is like a rectangle, so it itself enables people to determine which is east, which is southeast and so on. So many miscommunications between Muslims and Jews create unnecessary conflicts. Thank goodness, the Christians at the time didn't build a church at the place where the golden dome building/the Dome of the Rock/the Muslim monument is standing right now coz they knew the area belongs to Jews, the foundation of the Jewish Holy Temple.
So, the conflict here is only between Jews and Muslims. Jews want to demolish the golden dome building/the Dome of the Rock/the Muslim monument, not the black dome building/the Al-Aqsa Mosque, so that they can rebuild the Jewish Holy Temple for the third time, but Muslims try to defend/protect the monument by claiming that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the golden dome building, not the black dome one.
