Looking for a new Camry XLE. Was thinking of the XSE but the low profile tires cause a bad ride for daily driving. People have commented that going over pot holes causes flat tires. I don't agree with ranking cars based on their sporty attributes, when most people are using them as daily drivers. Other factors are no turbo, they cause high maintenance repairs later. No CVT transmission, they break at 100k miles and can't be easily repaired. Back to Toyota, they are not taking orders, only what appears on the dealer lots, which isn't many, only a few XSE (sport version), no XLEs (luxury version). So another video idea could be daily driver vehicles that fit what I've mentioned (tires with a high side wall, no turbo, no CVT, 4 cylinder for better gas mileage). The Camry XLE and the Mazda CX30 (yes, it's a compact SUV) fit this category.
If you live in the cold climate states where there are a lot of potholes I agree that the low profile tires are not a good choice, but on good roads they aren't a problem. I just got a '22 Camry XSE last night, same color as the test car here, and it rides very smoothly on the 19-inch wheels, not much different than the 16-inch wheels on the old car. But, the big sidewalls come in handy on bad roads. To your other points, I also wanted to avoid turbo engines and CVT transmissions, so the Accord came in second for me. Those two and Genesis G-70 were my top three sedan choices.
@@jyotidas8874 Turbos are reliable, but they operate under more stress than naturally aspirated engines. Nothing wrong with them, they just have shorter lifespans. As far as CVTs, unless they are from Toyota or Honda I'd pass.
I bought a Camry SE four years ago for the same reasons you listed. I did not want a turbo engine or CVT transmission and I didn't want the 19" wheels of the Camry XSE though did like many of its other upgrades over the SE. Your choice of the XLE is a good one since you get most of what the XSE offers but on 18" wheels. Good choice and I hope you like it. I have no buyer's remorse with the cheaper SE, it's been a comfortable, trouble free car that I hope to keep at least 10 years.
If your looking for New Camry they can be found by searching Gulf States Toyota Vehicle Processing Center and search for a Camry than select your trim and then contact your dealer if you find one you like. They can contact Gulf Coast and secure it for you. They will require a $1000 refundable deposit. I just got mine that way about 2 weeks ago. Inventory changes daily, just thought.
Working on all these, over the past year, I can tell you, long term, still comes down to the Camry and Accord. All these, for the most part, will get to the magic 100,000 mark. But around then, they will start to break down, and start turning into money pits, except the Accord and Camry Of course, exceptions on both sides of the coin, but that is what I see. My other mechanic brethren, pretty much only drive those 2, also a Lexus. The K5, Mazda6, Sonata, Altima, focus on the styling, tech etc, as they know that is what most people are sold on, the visual. The engines, putting it bluntly, are crap. Again, there are always exceptions, but just highlighting what I see. If you typically flip a car after a couple years, then any of these are good. You want long term, reduced maintenance issues, better resale.. Accord or Camry
the chevy malibu is for baby boomers...the subaru is for grandmothers...the nissan altima is for college kids,,, the toyota camry is for all my X girlfriends....the honda accord is for me! ....the Kia K5 is for the gentlemen making this video along with the sonata! cheers... it was fun... guess im a honda guy but i do like Kia lately...
I agree with you , I have never EVER seen a review were both Japanese offerings get beat by the Koreans. Its hilarious but the Camry , Accord and Altima are all 4 to 5 years old. The remodels will out perform, and outsell the rest of these competitors like they have for over 30 years now.
I bought a Camry XSE over the Accord because I didn't want another turbo engine in the family and I don't like the push button transmission in the Accord 2.0T. But, I think the 2.0T is the class of the midsize sedans - roomy, strong acceleration and a decent ride. It was a tough choice for me, but my wife has an Acura RDX and it performs very similarly to the 2.0T so I don't feel like I am missing out!
Can't lump everyone into a certain category. I'm a baby boomer, and I bought the K5 GT LINE with premium package a year ago this month. Love it. It drives well, looks fantastic, is comfortable, and has plenty of get up and go. 0 issues so far, and my other 3 Korean cars were excellent.
Nissan CVTs are almost guaranteed to fail by 80K, management knows about their attitude is if it makes through the warranty that’s all that matters, research it.
Good review, and thanks for talking about "interior size." Being a rather "husky" guy, that is one of my first concerns.....and no, I'm not purchasing a $70,000 F150 or Expedition as my "daily driver" just so I can have extra room.
My advice is to get the Toyota based on my 47 years of experience with owning so many different brands from all three continents. Toyota and Lexus are the best.
Excellent choices. Ive been very pleased with my 2021 kia K5 GT LINE with premium package. Nice car. Great looking and comfortable, good handling also.
Former dealer trade driver here and your comments on the Altima being close to the Camry are dead wrong. I've only put maybe 100 miles in the Altima vs the camry where I have 25k miles on gas ones and 35 k in the hybrid ones and I have to say the Altima is garbage. Gutless acceleration, a cheap feeling ride, undersized rearview mirror and all around feel that makes a Corolla feel like an upgrade. The Camry drives like a luxury car to me. Less road noise, more comfortable seat with better seat controls, a steering wheel that actually feels comfortable, a pedal set that feels decent and a suite of driver controls that are not only easy to get acclimated to but also rather intuitive. The infotainment screen is not only larger but also more driver focused making it easier for me to use the controls. In the Altima it feels like the infotainment screen is oriented for someone who is about 4 foot tall and using more than the volume selector knob while driving is quite difficult. Honestly the Chevy Malibu feels better to me, but I'll stick to my Camry SE hybrid as my daily.
Maybe I’m bias because I own one but Mazda 6 is better looking than every single one of these by far. I really hope they come back at some point. The Hyundai and Kai look nice and have nice features but none of that matters when your engine fails at 50k miles.
My 2015 sonata started burning oil at 145000. good luck. there's a reason it comes in a lot cheaper than the competition. they have to price that way and throw in more standard bells and whistles because the can't compete with the longevity of the japanese brands
At that mileage the only ones concerned are used car buyers. Lots of Toyota cars have an oil burning issue also. Oil change frequency can definitely determine if an older engine will burn oil or not.
The Legacy should be ahead of the Altima. Quieter, better ride quality, better interior, much higher resale value (highest of all midsize sedans) and standard AWD for the same price range.
I don't know guys. I think you have to consider what a company has done in the past. It reflects their nature. When you do that Kia, Hyundai's have to move to the bottom of the list. Regardless of the warranty. The history of the manufacturer is one of poor quality. This is not my opinion but the option of mechanical experts around the globe. I hate to see you guys get sucked in by a pretty face.
Well then, Toyota, and Honda will have to go to the bottom of the list. When they 1st started coming to the US in the late 60s early 70s they were CRAP! Nobody wanted thier little cars, except people who couldn't afford to spend more. But slowly, year by year they got better and better until they were accepted here. And eventually they made really good,, nice cars.. Surly you can see that the KIAS and HYUNDAI'S of today, are worlds apart from the cars they sold here in the 80s 90s . I don't understand your mentality that once bad, means always bad. Do you think from day 1, that Toyota And Honda made EXCELLENT VEHICLES??
Wondering how day to day life with the N line has been? Is wheel slip a never ending issue or is it only when you floor the pedal? How does the car do in rain? Would love a long term update from ya!
Don't look at any N car owners sites. They are having a ton of issues with the DCT's. Also some of the 2022 N's are having engine issues tied to the DCT's.
I've owned an N Line for a year now, the wheel slips when you floor it going less than 40 mph but normal driving it doesn't slip, it does well in the rain I have had no issues driving in the rain and the DCT issues that was going on it has been fixed plus you won't get that problem if you go with a 2023 model Overall I give the car 9/10 in terms of everything, it's fast, luxurious, safety features for long journeys are spot on 9/10 because nothing is perfect.
Last year we were looking for a new car. Test drove the new Honda Civic Sports, Honda HRV, then stepped up to Toyota Camry LE. However, we ended up with Hyundai Sonata SEL for a whopping deal of $25K. I think it was an incredible deal that it even beats Honda Civic Sports and with better interior space, ride quality, safety technologies back by longest warranty it wasn't rocket science. Sadly, we have to trade in for not-so-great deal Hyundai Tucson SEL because we adopted a cat and a pitbull so we needed more space. Because of computer chip shortage and the economy the best I could was a whopping $4K above MSRP. Fortunately, the Tucson provided the same level of safety tech and ride quality and my wife like to drive it better because it higher than Sonata.
@@mrgurulittle7000 Las Vegas Honda dealers are horrible. They are jacking up the price that the base is now comparable to the top of their line. On top of that they hardly have the model I need. Yes, you can blame the inflation and the worldwide micro chips shorted as well.
Here in Japan, car dealers are usually idiots that don't know their own cars or they are stinky and try to rip you off. There are some dealers like the Mitsubishi ones in town that have great service and give a good deal. Hope you get you r dream Honda!
@@mrgurulittle7000 Well, it is the same situation here in States including Mitsubishi. Since they are small here in the US they make it up on service. My last car before I got the 2022 Hyundai Tucson was a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Engine died only two months ago.
Im sorry but nothing beats the accord. The camry is a close second, and the mazda 6 is sooo premium. All the others are so specialized for a specific use (offroading, sportiness, spec avaliabilities) but the accord is just the standard.
I agree, I’ve driven all of them except the Malibu which shouldn’t be on this list. While the Sonata is very nice in and out it feels cheap to me after driving the Camry and Accord. It came down to those two and I settled on an Accord 2.0t Sport. Beautiful car to drive, will last me at least 5 years at least before things start breaking down and I like the classy look of it. The Sonata is cool but I think I’d get sick of it and I know the build quality can’t compare to the Honda. I honestly think that the Accord would also beat any of these cars on the race track also, the 10 speed transmission is easily the best of the bunch.
I guess no one here has watched Car Help Corner's videos on the "Top 5 WORST engines ever that won't last part 2". The Hyundai/Kia 2.0/2.4L engines were #1 on the list. My ASE certificate mechanic confirmed this as well. He works on Kias full-time.
We’ll the 2.0T/ 2.4 Theta II was discontinued on the Sonata in ‘19 and the Kia in ‘20. So, considering this is for the ‘22 model year, your point is moot!
great list, you should do a top 10 luxury and near luxury sedans list. guy, like me, are only buying sedans it's so sad to see options just get so low.
Wow good for you guys, Sonata was definitely on my list when I car shopped. Just a couple of things stopped me and that was how Hyundai did the configurations. I wanted the N_Line but when I seen it didn't offer the blind spot monitoring in the gouges and the heads up display. The limited is definitely the better choice for the cabin, but.....after driving the N_ Line I would have been disappointed constantly if I went with the limited because of the driving experience and power difference. I ended up going with the G70. I do love the G70 but wish I had the space the Sonata offers. Hopefully in the next 2 years Hyundai does it right and offers everything in the N_Line thats in the Limited.
Man O Man! I purchased a 23 NLine… No Complaints at all.. especially the Bang for the Buck and that Motor is very impressive for a 4cly. It makes my neighbors 23 SI Civic look so plain Jane and at almost 10K more?
The only vehicle I would not purchase and never ride in is KIA. Seen several accidents involving KIA vehicles. They are a death trap. The military acronym for KIA is Killed In Action. My preference would be Camry because you get a V6 engine. Honda still uses the sluggish and not-very-good CVT also known as the rubberband effect transmission. Sonata would be fantastic if they would go back to having a V6 engine. This leaves in last place the Malibu -- boo booooo terrible car but a lot safer than KIA K5 or any KIA ever built. Camry #1 and Sonata #2 with Accord at #3. However, we could move up to Acura, Infinity, and best yet Audi or a low-end BMW. Nissan is too problematic so I avoid them.
Honda and Toyota build 250k cars. Kia and Hyundai build 125K cars. I will admit the quality at Honda has been dipping. But there is still no comparison.
I AM GEN X . .I WORK ON 3 C0MPUTER SCREENS DAILY IN WORK. I LIKE MY KNOBS AND BUTTONS. I HATE, HATE, HATE, THE BIG SCREENS IN THE CARS ...I DONT WANT TO LOOK AT ANOTHER COMPUTER SCREEN WHILS I DRIVE. LOVE A BACKUP CAMERA BUT NOT THE TOUCH SCREEN B.S.
I had 2023 malibu as a rental recently. It was so garbage imo. The infotainment was ok but weirdly set up. It had ok faux leather. But its 8 years newer than my 2015 mazda 6 and its slower, worse mileage, smaller and cheaper plastics, less storage compartments . For what was actually a pretty comparable trim level, How is it even a new car? It reminded me of japanese quality from the early 2010s if I'm honest. The only thing the malibu has going for it is an OK looking front face
Sonata at #1 ruined this video for me. I wouldn't have minded if it was K5 at #1 even though I'd not pick it at #2 if I was ranking. That said, I think Kia and Hyundai have come a long way, but I'm sorry they are still not up to the level and experience of the Toyotas and Hondas of the world. I recently purchased a 2022 accord and that car is fun to drive....and the styling is elegant. My #1.
You two are of your minds. Let me know when your Hyundai hits 300,000 then you put it as number one above toyota and honda. Looks and tech features outside of your engine and transmission don’t take you from point a to point b.
As we said in the video, they're all very close and should be tailored to each personal situation. We tend to trade before 50k miles but if you're keeping 10+ years then Honda/Toyota are going to offer more reassurance
New car buyers aren't INTRESTED IN HITTING 300.000 MILES! LOL. We want a nice enjoyable vehicle for 4 ,5 years up to around 60.000 miles, then its time for another new car. Auto manufacturers aren't intrested in used car buyers!! Only new car sales. And really, who wants to run around in a j beater with that kind of mileage? Ok for a teenager I guess.
SUVs are gas hogs and totally unacceptable as a daily unless you haul trailers and your coworkers daily. Why are so popular? Sedans are the superior daily commuters. Now VW have cancelled their sedans so I must find a new brand and so far Japanese cars are WAY too small. It's like the Japanese thinks everyone in USA is 11 years old.
I would have included the VW Arteon in the list. It's one of the best looking and most spacious entries in this segment. For 2022 it got a HP bump to over 300HP and almost the same torque. Still gets 31mpg Hwy. Oh and it can be had with AWD.
Technically, it's a hatchback like the Kia Stinger, of which the Stinger is overall a better car, especially with the most recent update and much improved base engine...
Accord all day any day. Not even a question K5 is close but the accord is still better and more polished all around. It’s the best handling best riding best performing best interior best space best value etc. go ahead. Try to find faults in the accord. You’ll quickly see your logic is flawed But finding faults in say a Toyota Camry or Malibu are so much easier and justifiable
All modern sedans styling look Ugly, horrible, from front grill to the tail back including sloping rear roofline affecting rear headroom. Not worth buying them as people say sedan are no longer charming, elegance and SOULESS. Stay away and better buy an SUV or MPV. It tick all the boxes required by our usage and purpose daily .

Turbos are not like before, they are reliable. CVTs are fuel efficient. All car makers started embracing turbos, and CVTs.
Too much rim make the ride too hard
Hi Car Confections Can You Make The 2022 VW Passat Final Limited Edition
If your looking for New Camry they can be found by searching Gulf States Toyota Vehicle Processing Center and search for a Camry than select your trim and then contact your dealer if you find one you like. They can contact Gulf Coast and secure it for you. They will require a $1000 refundable deposit. I just got mine that way about 2 weeks ago. Inventory changes daily, just thought.
Working on all these, over the past year, I can tell you, long term, still comes down to the Camry and Accord. All these, for the most part, will get to the magic 100,000 mark. But around then, they will start to break down, and start turning into money pits, except the Accord and Camry
Of course, exceptions on both sides of the coin, but that is what I see.

Accord Sport 2.0T for the win! I'm a retired automotive shop owner.
Toyota and Honda top choices, no doubt. 👍
A Lexus is a Toyota just a luxury version, they run for hundreds of thousands of miles also….
#1 for me- 2022 HONDA ACCORD accept no substitutes.
the chevy malibu is for baby boomers...the subaru is for grandmothers...the nissan altima is for college kids,,,
the toyota camry is for all my X girlfriends....the honda accord is for me! ....the Kia K5 is for the gentlemen making this video along with the sonata!
cheers... it was fun... guess im a honda guy but i do like Kia lately...
My CVT Nissan has 150k
👁️👄👁️
A,as of comparison as usual! For me, I’d have to go with the K5 or the Legacy, but all of these are great choices!😸
I have a Chevy Malibu but I want something sporty but still says mom if that makes sense. I really like the Kia k5
Is your sonata still running?
What was your impression of the seats in the K5, and what trim level would you all go with, GT Line or EX? The GT is definitely out of my budget.
The seats seemed comfortable and supportive during our drive but we didn't go on a long road trip or anything. GT-Line is where our preference lies.
Show the cars instead of you talking
Oil change frequency can definitely determine if an older engine will burn oil or not.
toyotas and lexus will be my choices🙏🏻
What just broke with the Sonata launch take off? Motor mount.. Honda Accord is the way.
Has the Chevrolet Impala been discontinued?
Yes
The Legacy should be ahead of the Altima. Quieter, better ride quality, better interior, much higher resale value (highest of all midsize sedans) and standard AWD for the same price range.
Highly subjective. Subaru is a niche brand with a checkered past for reliability, much like Nissan. However, Nissan has the edge in my opinion.
Man, I miss the Mazda 6. My last 2 cars were the 6 and I would have gotten a 3rd. Now, I'm considering an Accord or a Sonata or going into a suv.
Do
you think from day 1, that Toyota And Honda made EXCELLENT VEHICLES??
RIP Mazda 6
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building !!!!!!!!!!
Wondering how day to day life with the N line has been? Is wheel slip a never ending issue or is it only when you floor the pedal? How does the car do in rain? Would love a long term update from ya!
Yeah hopefully we can do one for you guys soon! In short though, it's been great and wheel slip is only problematic if we accelerate really hard
Don't look at any N car owners sites. They are having a ton of issues with the DCT's. Also some of the 2022 N's are having engine issues tied to the DCT's.
I've owned an N Line for a year now, the wheel slips when you floor it going less than 40 mph but normal driving it doesn't slip, it does well in the rain I have had no issues driving in the rain and the DCT issues that was going on it has been fixed plus you won't get that problem if you go with a 2023 model
Overall I give the car 9/10 in terms of everything, it's fast, luxurious, safety features for long journeys are spot on
9/10 because nothing is perfect.
You should go for a Honda!
@@mrgurulittle7000 Las Vegas Honda dealers are horrible. They are jacking up the price that the base is now comparable to the top of their line. On top of that they hardly have the model I need. Yes, you can blame the inflation and the worldwide micro chips shorted as well.
Oh... But you do think that Honda would've been a better choice? Right?
It's unfortunate that Accord Coupe is no more.
Failed to mention that engine noise in the K5 is artificial and pumped through the speakers.
The new Sonata/K5 no longer have those engines.
And what does that have to do with these cars?
We’ll the 2.0T/ 2.4 Theta II was discontinued on the Sonata in ‘19 and the Kia in ‘20. So, considering this is for the ‘22 model year, your point is moot!
KIa and hyundai are average vehicles.
Sonata and k5 win. Stylish but performance that can last over 300k miles Camry and accord. I am yet to see a sonata going that far
Honda Accord 2.0T is the way to go. You won’t be disappointed. Toyota is a decent vehicle as well. Don’t waste your time with others.
not for me because it is not fuel efficient enough
Where is my Mazda6🤦 I would rather have the 6 than the cvt’s Sedan out here! Wow the 6 didn’t even made the cut?
The 6 was discontinued for 2022. 2021 was the final model year unfortunately.
The 6 was a personal favorite of ours but it is discontinued unfortunately!
I don't really care for fancy infotainment or safety features. All I want is decent performance and fuel economy. At least 200BHP and 25mpg.
great list, you should do a top 10 luxury and near luxury sedans list. guy, like me, are only buying sedans it's so sad to see options just get so low.
Hyundai isn't as reliable as the Japanese brands.
So here in asia everything in the limited i available in the n-line idk why its not available in the US
Man O Man! I purchased a 23 NLine… No Complaints at all.. especially the Bang for the Buck and that Motor is very impressive for a 4cly. It makes my neighbors 23 SI Civic look so plain Jane and at almost 10K more?
I hear so many good things about the N line. Is the engine beefed up in those?
No the N line has a small 1.6 engine. The K5 Gt with the 2.5 290 hp is the only one worth getting.

Camry or K5 for me
Camry #1
Nissan is too problematic so I avoid them.
interesting y’all chose the koreans over the japanese
But in a year or so there should be new Camrys and Accords so who knows after that
Acura midsize sedans didn’t make it ? Too pricey ?
Honda and Toyota build 250k cars. Kia and Hyundai build 125K cars. I will admit the quality at Honda has been dipping. But there is still no comparison.
Honda hasn’t been dipping. They just have different ways to make reliable cars as good as Toyotas
They both have their fair share of problems but just avoid Nissan
What car are they in? Tesla?
Yes, it's a Tesla Model 3
I AM GEN X . .I WORK ON 3 C0MPUTER SCREENS DAILY IN WORK. I LIKE MY KNOBS AND BUTTONS. I HATE, HATE, HATE, THE BIG SCREENS IN THE CARS ...I DONT WANT TO LOOK AT ANOTHER COMPUTER SCREEN WHILS I DRIVE. LOVE A BACKUP CAMERA BUT NOT THE TOUCH SCREEN B.S.
Total anti-American BS. We have 3 Chevy Malibu’s - unbelievable superior to the others
And all starting @ 67k!!

Reliability: Toyota Honda Lexus Acura.
I heard that k5 have Engine problems
Sonata at #1 ruined this video for me. I wouldn't have minded if it was K5 at #1 even though I'd not pick it at #2 if I was ranking. That said, I think Kia and Hyundai have come a long way, but I'm sorry they are still not up to the level and experience of the Toyotas and Hondas of the world. I recently purchased a 2022 accord and that car is fun to drive....and the styling is elegant. My #1.

What about Mazda??

I agree on the malibu 😂😂
Yeah. Legacy is a joke. Malibu is a fleet favorite for sure.
Sonata isn't that comfortable. Ride quality is not smooth enough for me.

Not the sonata
We’ll it better be superior.. it’s price is $10000 higher to start
Technically, it's a hatchback like the Kia Stinger, of which the Stinger is overall a better car, especially with the most recent update and much improved base engine...
Accord all day any day. Not even a question
K5 is close but the accord is still better and more polished all around. It’s the best handling best riding best performing best interior best space best value etc. go ahead. Try to find faults in the accord. You’ll quickly see your logic is flawed
But finding faults in say a Toyota Camry or Malibu are so much easier and justifiable
Where is passat
Dead..Good riddance!
All modern sedans styling look Ugly, horrible, from front grill to the tail back including sloping rear roofline affecting rear headroom. Not worth buying them as people say sedan are no longer charming, elegance and SOULESS.
