Those are super tough. Not just fake tough like some manufacturers. Not a fan of their floor plans. No big lithium package which is surprising. I’d like a tandem axle design with camping for two. They are nice and built well.
My dislikes: 1. The push out windows. This unit is made for boondocking. If you have the windows open and interior lights on at night, the screens will be covered with bugs. To close and latch the windows you have to retract the screens, letting in the bugs. 2. The cabinets without handles. Boondocking and cooking, you are not going to always have clean hands. You have to put your dirty hands on the cabinetry because there are no handles. 3. The bedroom. The sides of the bed are fully enclosed. How do you put of a sheet?
1.I have a tab400 and the windows are the same. In the north of Ontario we had 500 mosquitos between the screen and the window. They all leave by the morning. Or you can spray bug spray and the jobs done. 2. Wash your hands before entering? There's a faucet outside. 3. Again in the tab400 it's hard putting on sheets. You start with the furthest corner. The bed isn't stuck to the frame. We boondock 90% of the time. And we're buying this trailer in a week. Hopefully this helps
The windows are awesome… one of the best features. All those bugs you’re scared of… you just tap the screen before dropping it and closing the window. No problems. Hiding the dirt your nasty hands leave all over the place doesn’t sound like the best but makes sense. The sheet lol… get zippered sheets if you have so much trouble!
Hi Matt and Wil! This is a very nice travel trailer. My dislikes are the sane yours and my likes are the windows and the big bed and the bath room/shower. This TT is very nice. Thank you Matt abs Wil.
Thanks for the tour! I think these manufacturers could save money by eliminating the TVs and microwaves. If you're buying an off road, you'll likely be off grid too. People who are in this market need function over "bells and whistles". TVs and microwaves take too much power to run. I don't like the blind system. Someone else mentioned the bugs that will come in when you close the window. And they WILL. Especially if you're boondocking! Your light might be the only light in the area. It will be a Motholypse in your camper! When the privacy part of the shade is on the bottom, you can leave your windows open, pull the screen down some and still have privacy/sun shade. With the way these are, you can't do that. Just give me a crank out window with built in screens. These new windows are made for places without bugs. I do like that they have a bathroom in an off road/off grid trailer. I like that it's an actual living space, in case of bad weather. I like the 2way fridge. Again, power is precious when you're boondocking. Save the solar for your fans. You'll need them.
We boondock alot with our tab400 from nucamp. It's the same windows. We do get bug problems in the screens. We have natural bugs spray that we spray if we want to close the window real quick. Or else there's nothing left in the morning. We just bought an HQ21 because they use similar non cheap materials that nucamp uses. Just waiting for it to be ready
Krista, our HQ15 is very compact inside but the rig is heavy and requires a more substantial tow vehicle to utilize its capabilities. The microwave runs off the 2000 watt converter and the battery bank is 400 amp hour with 300 watts of solar on the roof they stay charged off grid! The DC refrigerator works great and I have my frozen breakfast burritos to worry about!🤣👍
What gets me is the amount of people who bitch about this being Chinese. Guys, I hate to break it to you but almost everything is coming from there and the quality outshines most of the brands made here in the states.
love it.... over twice the price of others similar size, but built 4x better... excellent floorplan, nothing i do not like other than the plastic doors will pointed out. love the sky lights and windows. would be great for out in the boonies for sure.... from scanning a few comments. did love the windows, but ... now they suck.... have to let bugs in to close the window? NOOO, something i did not realize on these kinds of windows... for skylight ok.... but not all windows.
What is the black tank holding capacity. I'm with you on the back cushions on the u-shaped dinette, they look very uncomfortable other than that I like everything about it. The outside storage doors could be made out of the aluminum or a composite material. Great job Matt an Will, keep up the great work!! Would you approve this for the zombie apocalypse?
The cushions are by far the most comfortable of any trailer I’ve ever been in. Actual leather and very soft. Only issue is they fly all over the place… need snaps or other fastener of some type to keep in place
Len, Zombie attack 🤔 maybe? Our record is 13 days off grid in the mountains. 100% battery bank charges with solar by 2 pm every day. Two DC refrigerators!
Yeah I like the r&b but like you're saying about them steps they need a little bit of bigger and wider and length for dogs going up and down them too and stuff the way it looks cuz my dogs I have a a bad time trying to go with them steps and back down back out of the RV nothing if you say anything but they need me wider and and a little bit bigger you know leave where your foot can go on them better because when it looks there falls back there okay thank you
Biggest dislike is the propane storage. Having to lift the tanks in and out at that height is asking for a sore back, especially when they are full. Great for security, bad for access.
Yes the Explore is almost twice as much. The Black Series hull comes from China, the rest is assembled with the same thing US rigs are. The suspension and articulating hitch comes from Australia. You should research and find out where the Explore hull comes from!🤣👍
I looked into this before deciding on an Airstrem Basecamp 20x. The features of the Black Series are awesome, but even a cursory amount of research reveals the many build quality issues and poor customer support. It was a hard pass for me.
3 likes on construction: independent suspension, solid aluminum sandwich panel construction, actual plywood cabinets. 3 likes on trailer: real leather u shaped dinette, euro double pane windows, modern styling Dislikes: Goofy RF switches with 27a mini batteries, mini table is way too small, electric stairs are only good the first time.
Donkey! I threw my electric steps away! Cabinets are honey comb composite with wood laminate. My switches are manual and I like it that way. The new switches are remote!

That's a pretty cool tt, especially for a rugged camper! Love the windows!
Very nice thank you for your reviews
Do they sell them in Florida
Hi Matt and Wil!

I got another comment okay the windows are they breakable or if they break they don't shower or fall apart let me know thank you
I love the Black Series for a off grid travel trailer.
Thanks for the tour!

Kudos to that large bathroom sink .. you can wash your face and not soak the floor. I agree with the whole bathroom being very nice.
You also didn’t mention that the day time shade is also the window screen
why put a plastic cover on the stove? will the heat damage that cover?

Hey Matt who's the owner of the black series Hq....?
I love the HQ Black Series! I just wish they made one with bunks, and I didn't have to sell a kidney to afford one, lol.
There are still 2022 Black Series HQ 17s on sale for about 40% now and they have rear bunks.

Black tank 26 gallons! Way too much! Gray tank 26 gallons! Could use more! Fresh water 50 gallons, triple filter drinking water 16 gallons.
Len, Zombie attack 🤔 maybe? Our record is 13 days off grid in the mountains. 100% battery bank charges with solar by 2 pm every day. Two DC refrigerators!
Where do you store ANYTHING 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you took an Airstream where I take my Black Series it would never make it home!🤣

You didn’t mention it has a composting toilet NO BLACK tank.
Its nice tnat you have tweedle dee and twittle dumb doing a review without checking it out first
Biggest dislike is the propane storage. Having to lift the tanks in and out at that height is asking for a sore back, especially when they are full. Great for security, bad for access.
If these things weren't shipped in a container from China, I'd like it more. As it sits, however, I'd have to go with Xplore for this category.
Don't disagree, but Xplore costs a LOT more so it isn't a 1:1 comparison.

hell crazy sales tax in Tx... its cheaper to buy this out from Tx for sure
LOL LOL TOPS!! 60 K //////// NOT WORTH THE PRICE, NO WAY, NO HOW.LOL

Donkey! Not real leather, Marine grade plether! We would have ruined leather by now! Kayakers!

You guys botched this . Your rushing through the videos. The only thing you make clear are your sponsors .
Did you see the gap in that bathroom door???? OMG....All your baked bean RV gases coming out of there....BIG dislike on that.

I would NEVER buy anything from this guy. Wow he’s a terrible salesman.
