Rice & Ginger reacts to Solo Leveling For The First Time!
#sololeveling #anime #reaction
Michelle and I are HUGE gaming nerds. So this show is already SUPER INTERESTING! Hyped for this journey!
In that case you'll be love anime overlord they have 4 season already
Or log horizon 2 season
Girls about to forget Gojo Exists when "DRIP" woo comes thru.
Same, gaming is life frr🔥🔥🔥
guys, you're AWESOME!!! the source material is amazing and I hope they do justice to it. The begining is promising. And the protaganist is by far one of the most likeable caracters i've read.
@@CSM_Kobeniwhy not both?
The manhwa version is one of greatest things I have ever read, and I can say they did good with this first episode and knowing the events that are on the way makes me so excited
It was the first one I read and it got me addicted! So much hype to come
Me personally, I thought the manhwa was hype but I wouldn’t call say it comes close to being great in terms of manga/manhwa I’ve read. For what it is though, it’s pretty damn great.
It's only 12 episodes,right..
@@given_mill7 it hasn’t been confirmed I don’t think but that’s what I’m assuming
@@chaos-leader559 lol
16:06 “I hope she doesn’t die” the things jjk does to you man 😭 😭
fr, jjk giving every animr watchers and manga readers cautious when a story introduced characters
@@ZedYusserwoooow
Season 2 of JJK made me hella depressed, so why do i love it so much?
Real
First time? (I’m an Akame Ga Kill watcher)
Listen, without spoiling anything, y'all ain't ready. The art style of the manhwa is absolutely insane, and they have certainly nailed it in this anime. I can't wait to see the later episodes, but GYATTDAYUM are you not prepared for this journey. I can't wait to see your guys' reaction to the next episode :3
I think solo leveling is the one that most readers started reading manhwa for its one of a kind type of hype, I can't wait to see more of this series and your reaction
I just watched solo leveling first episode, I am watching with you guys again. keep at it
Probably the origin of publisher will dictate if it was manhwa (KR), manhua (CN), manga(JP), or comics(global) and the Format.
But the obvious difference of Manhwa and Manga was the release frequency and the artstyle. Most manhwa are released weekly with fully colored pages and the orientation of reading was scrolling down while the Manga are Monthly releases with greyscaled pages and the reading format was from left to right.
The Comics could be fully colored and some are grayscale which common format was to read from left to right.
I read solo leveling and I enjoy watching the anime, there is little additional stuff put in this episode that is not on manhwa. I can already tell that this show will be a good adaptation ❤
Edit:
Just found out from comments, The extra scenes they add, are from the light novel. So they might go to the light novel route while doing the manhwa art style.
I didn't read the light novel but i do believe in the Manwa durri ng that arc they do say they visited that place but couldn't finish the job with them group they had... It was weird when I first watched it... But then rememberd that conversation and just assumed they wanted to give some context to when that arc is animated
That's awesome then since the manhwa left out a lot of things and details from the light novel. Def one of the best
Manwha( webtoons) are definitely inspired of manga.. but the most distinguished difference about the two is its *COLORED* and you read it like you *scrolling* on your twitter timeline hahahha, basically you scoll down rather than swiping to the right, it's designed to read it on mobile it's really cool specially when it's action time, its very satisfying and that sometimes you would actually think that you're watching an anime already because of how smooth it is.
Their genre however, not much, but manhwa does a lot of Reincarnation, second chance, Murim(basically martial arts) systems, and reversed isekai stuff also these are mostly adapted from a novel like solo leveling.
And there's china manga (Manhua) who does both hehee
Good explanation as somoene who like manhua the most out of these 3
Maybe add like cultivation but yeah
I think with murim and cultivation, it was more on manhua than manhwa's. Manhua's are from China and Manhwa's are from Korea, if I remember
@@yeonbibi191 most if not all murim stories are manwha since its korean culture. Cultivation is usually from china and is named wuxia most of the time
Not all manhwas are webtoons
I read the books, but never read the manhwa. Seeing this brought to life has given me so much joy! Theyve done the first episode so well and im glad new people are finding this
😂😂Lol.. Anime is good but manhwa is on another level
@@arbazakhtar4877 since this post I've read the manhwa! It was incredible and the anime does it justice in my opinion :D
Keep up the amazing work you guys, and trust me, you guys will absolutely love this
If the entirety of this series is animated, and you guys watch it, you’re gonna look back on this and laugh. Seeing people watching something you know already is always exciting. Hope you two enjoy Solo leveling:)
Solo Leveling, also known as Only I Level Up based on its Korean name, is a light novel and then manhwa focusing on an alternate reality in Korea plagued by monsters from another world.
Yall are gonna enjoy this so much !! Been here since day 1 and promise yall wont regret it , keep up the grind 🙏🏽
This is one of the most anticipated series of 2024. Another one you might try is The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic. They both came out this week and they're both really good series.
Genre?
I find it crazy that people can still say it’s just “a little goblin” after seeing literal bullets from an automatic rifle bounce off of it’s skin. Makes me appreciate the manga/show even more, cuz it also points out how much regular civilians underestimate the “magical beasts” meaning they were kinda right(the writers). When you grow up believing something and it doesn’t match the reality, your mind makes a new reality and you stick to it even when the opposite is right in front of you. Humans are known for the trait of naïveté, so it makes since why they could predict that sorta attitude, but I still appreciate the manga’s continuity. It’s not a fantasy world, it’s beasts from a fantasy world coming to our world.. huge difference.
I‘m so excited to see LEvel as the opening theme next week, fits soo good
For Ron talking about Frieren: Actually the names of all characters are some abstract things, like Fern - distance, Himmel - sky, and Frieren herself is something like "the feeling of mellow when you're freezing" or simply "freezing". Arguably, can be interpreted as "how to remember people" because anime is talking about the passage of the time.
It's been a hot minute since I watched you guys and I hope you're both doing well.👍Every reactor and their mother is reacting to Solo Leveling and I'm glad to see you guys picking it up. Buckle up cuz its gonna be a wild ride!
Edit: Michelle's surprise at the characters' names being in Korean while the dub is Japanese is hilarious and I feel the joy as a Korean American lol. Korean manhwa have been steadily adapted to Japanese anime before SL and I recommend watching Tower of God. It's one of the most popular manhwa to anime adaptations and it has a second season coming out soon.
Tough, the anime adaptation of Tower of God doesn't make justice for the manhwa
ToG is still the best manhwa to anime adaptation I've seen so far. You're saying it's worse than God of High School, Noblesse, and A Returner's Magic Should Be Special?@@fabiangr3297
I'm indescribably hyped that you guys are watching this. I've read the manhwa and all I can say is you guys are in for the ride of your life. Hopefully you guys love this as much as I do. Welcome back and keep up the great work!!
How’s the story that’s the biggest thing for me when it comes to anime’s I’m really picky lol. I’ve only seen AOT and death note.
@@needum9212 The story is pretty simple and straight to the point, nothing too serious. But the hype is pretty unreal with the buildup, and scenes elevated by the godlike drawing ( Manhwa ) . Its everything you dreamt of when you wished you could have powers and this Manhwa encapsulates that. Its a power fantasy of the highest degree , in which anyone can enjoy it imo .
@@oscaka0073 okay cool I'm definitely gonna keep watching. this is the first anime I get to watch with friends where we all know nothing.
Manga, manhwa, and manhua have distinct art styles and layouts. Manga is traditionally published in black and white, while manhwa is also black and white but is published horizontally.
4:08, same, I played Harvest Moon too. People born in the 90s know this game so well. It is on PlayStation one.
Pls note that Essence Stones = comes from killing monsters and Mana Crystals = comes from regular old harvesting and mining the dungeon
5:36 this was originally written in korea, (idk if it got a japanese translation, but it was all over the websites❤) but adapted into a tv show (like most manga) but through a Japanese company so they have Japanese voice actors.
If my knowledge is correct, korea does not have many voice actors. But i know they have alot of actors in general as korean dramas are popular (perhaps just limited in animated film making?)
manga divided by panels and usually not coloured but mangwha are usually ful colored long continued spread where you just endlessly scrolldown
19:06 yes it's a k-pop group. the one who sang the op is TXT (Tomorrow X Together) and the producer of the song is Hiroyuki Sawano, which also did the OST/score for Attack On Titan
It's the language the OP is released in. It also has very specific art styles and tropes. Avatar is widely known as a cartoon that was influenced by manga art styles but since it was written by non-asians, released in the US, and the original language is English, it's a cartoon. If a Japanese person wrote and drew a graphic novel in Korea and the language was Korean, it would be a Manhwa-check/Webtoon. Think of all the animators for Simpsons and anime release in Japan. There are lots of Koreans working on the animation but the medium is based on the language/country it is released in initially.
I think the biggest difference between manhwa and manga is that manhwa was specifically made for phones so every chapter is a long drawing that you can scroll down through, while manga panels are divided by pages and were made for print/book
Yes it's tied to where it's from usually , but also they differ in some aspects . Manga, Manhwa, and Manhua (chinese) have distinct art styles and layouts . Even when the lines are sometimes blurred by its authors . Manga is traditionally published in black and white to begin with . Manhwa and Manhua often get released in color , especially when they went all in with digital formats. But other than that , while rare , you can definitively have manga from Korean artists and authors . Boichi , the south korean author of hit manga series like Sun Ken Rock and Dr Stone is a great example of that .
There also fringe cases of books published outside of Japan being treated like genuine manga (then again they do entirely follow the editing codes and tropes of the genre) . Like the successful manga "Radiant" from french author Tony Pereira , initially published in France . it even got an anime series from Japanese broadcasters and studios .
Just like what they said, the manhwa has the right art of showing the hype of fights, the magics, weapons, and etc...
I already read the manhwa but I’m gonna enjoy watching this alongside you guys since it was so good! I already forgot some parts of the story so it’s gonna be nice to rediscover some things lol
There's a Korean man living in USA who wrote a comics in the style of Korean manhwas with inspirations from manga. It's called The beginning after the end.
I've argued with a person what to call it, to me it's a manhwa xD
You're in for a WILD ride.
Manga 漫画/マンガ - Japanese
Man hua 漫画 - Mandarin/chinese
Manhwa 만화 - Korean
Basically all sound similar and literally translate to comic book
"What triggered the change in the world?" YOU ARE GOING TO GET MINDBLOWN BY THE REASON fr. It seemed simple, but it's complicated, yet it's simple.
After solo leveling become famous almost all manhwa are all about system and dungeons
I was watching this wondering if you guys would have realised it was Hiroyuki Sawano who done the music. I forgot he was doing it and as soon as I watched this episode I was like ‘this music sounds like AoT’ 😂
as far as your questioning of how this came about in this world it is explained towards the end of the web/light novel. the web novel is complete and is one of my favorite reads. the manhwa and anime are following the same story line so far.
From my brief exposure to manhwa. Manhwa's tend to have a different format than manga.
The manhwa's i read (solo leveling, dead days) have been in long, webpage formats.
Great for online viewing either via internet browsers or phones.
It’ll be more impactful if they showed the iconic statue GRIM face at the end. It’ll leave everyone who react shocked wanting for more.
That scene is still 2 chapters away
Manhwa manga and comics are determined via their style and not the artist or country of origin. Manga is usually black and white and has panels while manhwa is more scrolling up and down, while comics have panels but in a diff style
It’s something my best friend and I worried about. We’ve watched so many stories that it feels like everything has been done before, but you start to see that even if you see the same stories, it’s the application and the characters that drive the story and keep it fresh.
I started this show along with you guys! such a great first episode already!! can’t wait for more
this is the most hyped manhwa, finally animated.
when he started dancing xD @19:09
10 years ago, we got virtual game anime genres such as SAO. Then,
The Isekai genre has taken the eyes of people for more than 5 years. Then,
The GATE genre will take the attention for the next years. :)
The GATE genre is happening in the real world where a gate to another dimension or dungeon appears and
a hunter profession or job exists.
This is the best anime ever in this year 🤩🤩
8:08 the gates appeared and when that happened people with powers also appeared
No. The gates appeared and regular people had powers awaken in them.
Both are correct, but the main reason is because the "mana radiation" of the gate awaken some people ,thats what happen in manhwa if im not mistaken, correct me if im wrong
@@burnyboi I mean that’s the same thing
To answer the naming question: from what I learned, it doesn’t matter. Manwha Manga comic are different names for the same thing. So really it depends on where you live. Superman is a comic in the US but in Japan Superman is still manga
wow didnt realized you already have 144k subs. ive been hear since 2k subs. so happy seeing you getting big. deserved.
In the future of series, you'll know the reason why there is magic, why gate exist, etc. it's a good series.
I really think the graphic novels in the US vs Manga vs Manwa have very different paneling structures and styles. They are all generally drawn differently, colored differently, and the characters usually look highly specific to the medium. I think what matters is how the story is conveyed in conjunction with where it’s released. The boondocks comic looks closer to American serial comics but the cartoon generally mixed Japanese anime and American animation traditions. But I feel each one has its stylistic identity.
Solo leveling opened a whole new genre. I'm glad you guys found this treasure. ❤
I am new. I like watching people's reaction to episode 6 of Solo Leveling. Depending on how they react to it. It gives me a good idea if I will like their personality.
In my opinion what determines whether a graphic novel is called manga or manhwa is the language in which it was first adapted, and most likely if the language is Korean the author is Korean. fyi there is another type of graphic novel called manhua whose initial language it is adapted from is chinese
You don’t know how it’s going to do? This is arguably one of the most anticipated anime of all time, engagement shouldn’t be an issue.
Dude, Korea has some bangers in the Urban Fantasy Genre. Solo Leveling might be the best one but Omniscient Reader and God of High School are great manhuas too
First time watching you guys, loved the reaction and im so hyped for the next episodes it gets even better!
From my understanding korea is big on games so alot of korean stories have game elements in them @4:40
You nailed it with the critics: they are searching for complexities and different characteristics, but solo leveling is the best at what it is. And you will see it in around 10-15 episodes.
Delicious in Dungeon is AWESOME. Glad y'all watched it.
difference (1)
manhwa i believe only koreans can make it as for the differences well yes there's various things that make them different also imma add sum other stuff but the 1st one being that the art style is by far better than manga in almost 70%+ of the time not all but they do better art and they're colored
difference (2)
the 2nd being that it's a scrolldown and it goes on for more without a stop and it shows the fight scenes a lot better than in manga as they tend to do tilted or not of the art of an army or of a battle that just looks so damn detailed and very well drawn and after that art is drawn you get to see a fight scene w the same quality
*spoiler*
now if we're being more accurate to solo leveling the manhwa then you'd find a scene in the manhwa that shows how they hate japan as a whole xD and they basically say how weak and pathetic they were
*important*
this manhwa was made by A-1 Studio and that studio is Japanese well this is a first i think but i think they were gonna changed some stuff from the manhwa to the anime adaptation as previously we thought they'd change his name from sung jin woo to another weird name in Japanese it still is a manhwa with the only difference of who is animating all this
*important*
they didn't mention this properly but it was shown so i won't count this as a spoiler but the island that had the ants was in their real world meaning that they came out of the portal and escaped into the real world as the old man(forgot name) said that breakings occur
*manhwa is better than manga*
fyi manhwa are consistent on uploads and often have breaks and seasons in their own manhwa's so for example it can have 50 chapters but then they will announce that they will go on hiatus well once that happens it can last months but their uploading schedule is very consistent tho it usually is weekly for example 4 chapters per month while manga often uploads 1 chapter every 3 months or even 4 if not every year only 1 chapter
3:27 International anime productions fall under Scott Pilgrim/ Avatar rules.
Fellow Solo Leveling fans, it's time to arise 😈
Nice one...😈 if you know, you know..
i played the android game of this anime and fucking reached the highest lvl even before it reached america and europe
this kind of anime makes me wanna play MMORPGS so BADLY and go to raids with friends, amazing anime. waiting 2nd season
I did not expect you to upload your solo leveling reaction to youtube this early.
I've been missing out on you guys a lot.
Wish you all the best.
Let's enjoy this series together!! Lezzgooooooo
One day y'all should react to Apothecary Diaries.. it's an anime released weekly and the mystery mixed with a hint of romance is absolutely a banger. The story line is incredible. I can't even explain in words how much I love this show. Def one of the best shows from last season alongside Frieren. For once there's a female mc done right.
Its sooo hard to keep quiet as a reader...
But i also don't want to spoil it..
Solo levelling is 🔥🔥🔥
When you said it was about games I totally laughed out loud🤣, anyway enjoy the anime, I read the light novel of this one years ago and definitely was one of the first manhwas I read. My favorite game is also Harvest Moon!!!!
Just one of the creators has passed away :( I'm super happy their work is being animated it is so good
Manga are Japanese however they are black and white, some pages may be colored, you read from right to left and it has pages, manhwa is Korean but it is one long continuous page for each chapter and it is colored. Where it is made I don't think maters it is the layout of the story or book. Manhwa is more like webtoons and Manga are more like colorless comic books, they all have really good art regardless.
First off, I'm so glad you guys started on this series/show. This is a masterpiece and much looking forward to all the eps with y'all!
Second, I also fvcking love Baldur's Gate 3! It is such an amazing game. What classes do you guys play?
Simplest way i can answer the manga vs manhwa question.
1. Manga is Japanese and from what I've seen is always in black and white. There are probably a few exceptions. As well as in like print form. Not for every series though. Think of AOT. Isayama is Japanese, but the content is European. However the style is in Black and White, released in Japan and originally in Japanese.
2. Manhwa is Korean and is usually in color, and like most of it is in digital form. There are a lott of manhwa that take place in Medieval Europe but are written by Korean writers and artists but they would be considered Manhwa.
In France, we have french mangakas. So it's not a big deal to distinct manga to manhwa for me. Both can be excellent.
Its the most viewed Webtoon/manwha in korea (manga) so it def is going to have discoverability. Glad you both are covering it!
im new was drawn to your channel by this reaction, already subbed! you guys are a cute couple thanks for the reaction and pls continue this series!
MC's name is pronounced "Seong Jin-u". The w is silent.
I only learned this recently even after finishing the whole Manhua, lol.
I like it that the art style is very similar between anime and manhwa, I didn’t really know there’s an anime for this I was informed about a rumor during the pandemic.
Glad y'all liked my performance
This is from a korean manga/ light novel. Korean should make more anime like the japanese since they have so many great manga just like thsi anime
i'm at the 43th chapters on manhwa and i'm soo excited for the next episode !!!!!
From the scenes I've seen so far, A1 would be adapting the ln version so the pacing would be fire as hell. Been waiting for this for so long and I'm glad you get to watch this too and enjoy it with the rest of us 😊
It’s as good as the Manhwa, can’t wait for the smile.
This show is a power fantasy and a damn fun one. Can't wait for more episodes. Enjoy the ride
Manga/manhwa/manhua
Manga-Japanese comics never have color
Manhwa -Korean comics they have color they’re also less censored than Chinese/Japanese
Manhua-Chinese comics typically heavily censored
Edit-ask questions if you don’t understand still happy to answer
I read the manhwa
One thing nobody said, but the hunters have a bestiary with all the enemies that go from rank S to rank E, so in our world it is normal to think that the statues are enemies, but in their world the statues are not in the bestiary, so they dont think about it
PD: English is not my first language so sorry if i wrote something wrong
woooooo its finally out yaaayyy!!!
I could have sworn that avatar the last airbender was western show/comic/graphic novels (idk where the tv station calls home country) but with asian elements (art style, verious fighting styles, philosophies, ect)
Solo leveling is one of the greatest things I’ve ever read including mangas. Yall anime only reaction channels have NO IDEA what you’re in for. This is going to be one of the greatest things you’ve ever seen, if they stick to the manwah. It has a chance to be much better than even demon slayer.
The way they rank the gates is by using a magic measurement artifact which catches the magic output of the dungeon boss thus resulting in the gate’s rank, the higher rank the gate the higher the demand for hunters on that rank and forbidding lower rank hunters from entering because they won’t stand a chance.
Also, no one mentioned, but "My instant death ability is OP" is a bomb light novel! It just ended as well, and the anime is out!
Manga:
- is read from right to left, top to bottom
- is in panels, so the artwork is limited to panels of squares/rectangles, very crammed, restricted to page size
- can have more stylized/exaggerated art styles
- is in black & white with grey shadings
- have story arcs and continuous releases, no breaks in between
Manhwa:
- is read in a long strip format like a scroll, read left to right
- no panel restrictions, more 'breathable' to read, uses white spaces as part of the artwork
- more realistic art style
- has colored pages
- have 'season 1, 2, 3'.. etc, have a couple months in between each 'seasons' for break/rest
so as far as i know, "Manga" is basicly japaneese comic that majority in black and white illustration, while "Manhwa" its the same concept but colored instead. the artstyle is kinda different to you can spot it righ away.
Manga = Japanese
Manhwa = Korean
Manhua = China
Us = Comic
It's just a difference in their language in saying "comic"
8:45 She's asking all the right questions. 😂 Don't worry tho. It will all make sense in due time.
Its good to seeing your reacts again, im here because JJK and Demon Slayer and I miss these animes, but im happy because you are reacting to Solo Leveling too, greetings from Mexico
It's gonna be a long wait for that answer of "How did it all started" bro 😂😂 maybe next year 😂😂
About the manga x manhuwa thing.
Manga are more like comic books, but with its own specifics, like only black, white and shades off grey colours, reading the pages and pannels from right to left, etc.
Manhuwa is very diferent and is made to be read on modern cellphones, pcs or ipads. Its basically one page per chapther that you only scroll down and is normally coloured.
Not all manhwas are digital. Those that are meant to be read on the phones, pcs or ipads are webtoons
If a japanese guy wrote a comics in korea, it'll be called Manhwa, since he's in korea.
Basically Manhwa is korean term for _"COMICS"_
Manhua in chinese
Manga in Japanese
Comics in english
Komiks in Russian/Tagalog
Etc.
Wellcome back! Was pretty excited to watch ur reaction
