Im just curious how some atk moves will work with this new mew ex. For example we have charizard ex who discard 2 energy fire, but this mew ex still uses psychic energy, unlike the weaker ver of mew, ditto. Maybe it will just detach 2 psychic energy?
@@Clara_Page it doesnt tho! Why would an ex pokemon has such restriction, that what makes mew ex different than ditto. Plus, it only need 3 energy to copy any move, including the 4 energy one without actually needing 4 energy.
Oh right... I really like these cards who doesn't need to rely on energy on dedicated energy regeneration. That's why I like Golem (with brock), Swanna, and Magneton. In this booster pack, Exeggutor and Mew ex might be part of the list too!
It also makes pokemon like exeggutor EX much more viable as a wall especially with the new colorless egg basic to be able to leaf and rotate after dealing chip damage
guessing you didn't see Dedenne, 60 HP, 1 lighting cost, 10 damage plus paralysis on a flip, 1 retreat. could be good against big basic decks as a way to just stall them whilst you build up your own attackers.
I think this Magmar is much better for Aggro-Blaine decks because you do actually significant damage, and Magmar has low HP, so you don't even lose energy if you get knocked out after using the attack; you kill Pokémon like Lilligant, that are weak to it, and with Blaine, you kill important 1 prize Pokémon like Gardevoir or Hypno.

Sadly, they didn't cook with this Magmar. Why use a 80hp pokemon with 80 damage that discards all energy when Ninetales is right there? Doesn't make sense to me🥲
But they missed an opportunity with this card. Its just not stfong enough to be slotted in regular blane agro deck. What they should do is make a base 100 dmg, so when combine with blane, will do 130 dmg, and one shotting some ex pokemon like starmie ex. It will be just like mini raichu
Vaporeon let's you energize your initial attackers and then swing into gyarados plays. It could make gyarados a LOT easier to power up without having to hard stall or get lucky mistys
The fact aerodactlys ability is active from the bench is crazy, decks tech in fossils already so now you can tech aerodactyl to slow evo decks down a little
But it only really works if you get it in your opening hand. Otherwise you'd need to put it on the active spot late game when it would just get one shot most likely
Man that aerodactyl EX is gonna be a big annoyance to decks that need evolution. But on the other hand less problems with Charazard evolution and Gardevoir evolution getiing carged up or doing the charging up.
Imagine Aerodactyl EX going second, fighting energy, and using Misty - you could start dealing 80 damage from turn 2, and two-shot a Mewtwo. Lots of possibilities there

1) only prevents active pokemon evolution. 2) fossil evolution so old amber is an item and not a basic that has chance to start in hand or searched with pokeball. But it doesnt have the requirement to be active pokemon going for it
Looks like mid imo. Pikachu and Mewtwo decks don't get hurt by it since they are basic, even Charizard evolves from bench. Tho if combined with Sabrina might be some annoyance for stage 2 decks yeaif u don't play around sabrina.
The description says that the set will have +80 cards and 5 new Ex, along with Mew and Celebi. Also, some PVE content has been leaked with a Blue + Pidgeot Ex deck. So we have 4/5 Ex of the set confirmed (we still dont know what Celebi and Pidgeot will do)
@lukakarepa484 I don't think so. I saw the leaked image on reddit and the pve event was like the practice event we currently have with 3 new decks to play against (Mew Ex, Aerodactyl Ex and Blue+Pidgeot Ex). It's not the same event as Lapras or Venusaur
If find it pretty unimpressive. Stage 1, no major usage without misty, and you are probably just attaching 1-2 energies to the pokemon you want anyways
Absolutely loving the lack of coin flip cards in this set so far. 1st impression of mew ex though it only seems useful for mewtwo mirror matches, unless youre running your opponents energy discard moves are gonna counter it as well i think.
Mew EX works with any deck, but most here are just looking at it from a vs. Mewtwo point of view. Gardevoir energy generation still makes this card best suited for Gardevoir supported psychic decks, and it's a basic psychic Pokémon so it can come out swinging just like Mewtwo. It's another tool in the Mewtwo deck arsenal.
My hourglasses are sooo ready! *Edit after actually seeing the video: I'm actually not convinced yet... nothing meta decks couldn't handle right now... Vaporeon sounds nice, but let's be honest, when Misty hits more than 3 heads you don't need to move around energy. And if not, Vaporeon is pretty much useless. Most water decks right now are speed decks. Adding an Eeveelution doesn't speed things up to be honest. But we will see what kind of synergy it gets. REALLY like Tauros' effect but it needs 3 energies to get going. Not sure if that's helping.

I feel like that vaporeon will get banned from competitive play that ability is broken just imagine you get lucky with a misty and you move all your energy in one turn to your strongest card this mini set is out to disrupt the Pikachu and meta but buffs the water decks and fighting decks a good amount while turos is like the peace keeper being a neutral EX killer
vaporeon is busted. you pretty much need one good misty flip and you are set for the game. is your articuno ex is dying and have 5 water energies?? no problem swap him out put blastoise or lapras in move all the energies. continue wreaking havoc. using sabrina to energy stall when you have this card is impossible ( at least against water decks )
Whilst I like the fact we have new cards, I have my reservations about some of these cards. Of course, there is more to come. Aero seems bad. Better than current Aero, but you scarce evolve an active pokemon, and slapping down Base EXs is quite commonplace. Tauros offers a nice anti-ex option, but 3 energy is very expensive for something that doesn't answer all the EX's present at the moment. Pikachu, Exeggutor and Starmie can kill it before it even gets a chance to set up. Vaporeon is cool. Just wondering how it could slot into the current water decks without being a brick. I would rather see Staryu or Articuno than Eevee in my opening hand, and this card in no way replaces Misty. Marshadow is a cool revenge killer, but it's very squishy and predictable. Interested to see what people cook up with the new Exeggcute making Exegutor EX generic. Leaf looks incredible. Really nice for decks like Charizard and Venasaur that have high retreat costs. Doesn't replace X-Speed either. This card is the card that I'm currently most hype for, as it can slot in over Potion/Red Card/Giovanni in decks that have excess space. I'm interested to see what happens with Mew EX. Genome Hacking is an amazing generic effect, but it's situational, expensive and predictable. Mew will not be a carry EX every game and can be played around by most decks that are weak to it. Also looks like it will have a worse match up against StarmieCuno and Pikachu EX, which is not something a Pokemon that wants to shake up the meta wants at the moment.
We have a similar Mew card in the mainline TCG game. I can already tell it’s going to be quite the menace. As if Mewtwo Gardevoir wasn’t already a cracked deck enough as is. Lol 🤣I digress though, it’ll probably be a staple in just about any deck. I can’t wait to see Snivy’s evolutions. Finally getting some more Unova region Pokémon into TCG Pocket. Can’t wait!
Dhelmise in Exeggutor ex. Since Eggs only need one energy all the rest can go on Dhelmise. And it'll be faster than finding two evolutions for Beedrill.
Magmar would have been better with a burn status effect and lower attack damage. maybe similar to weezing’s poison status effect and tackle. This way more people would run magmar/blaine decks. Steel and dragon type need some love 😢. I thought they were going to introduce my steel bird skarmory to beef steel types.

Just a game tech question: what would happen if a Mew Ex copied the same move from an opposing Mew Ex in the active spot? Would it just be inception as they both use the same move until one of them uses the one energy cost move?
Big question: since this is called A1 and is not an entire new extension, does this mean that the current Genetic Apex packs will still be available and card points will still be usable??? Otherwise I need to hurry up and use all of my pack points because I've been saving them up to use them at the end of the expansion.

What i like about this game is we don’t know if this era is going to be like the first era of the real pokemon cards… We could be in the golden age of pokemon card collecting at not even know it. When trading comes i think it will be huge, and who knows what the future brings? maybe one day you can sell theese digital cards.

I think Mew ex can be used in any deck at 1 as counter measure because genome hacking is using colorless energy.
That exegcute means exegutor can be on every deck and behave like a colorless

What i like about this game is we don’t know if this era is going to be like the first era of the real pokemon cards… We could be in the golden age of pokemon card collecting at not even know it. When trading comes i think it will be huge, and who knows what the future brings? maybe one day you can sell theese digital cards.
Aerodactyl is fucking OP. It's ability will kill the game since we only have 2-3 Pokemons to come out and it won't be able to evolve if you have a bad hand.

Yes. That won’t give away til the next full set at the end of January. This is like a mid season refresher set and probably the way they are bringing in new metas.
