The eternal question: what makes stocks go up and down?! increasingly sentiment driven by ubiquitous 24/7 media and people who don't have your best interests at heart. IMHO. Agree, great interview, refreshingly straight and honest.

I've been a big fan of Einhorn since the GFC but his way of thinking about value is ancient. Buying a low multiple stock doesn't necessarily imply they're cheap especially if they have declining earnings and growth. You can buy a higher multiple stock that is growing earnings and that could be a better bargain. Even Buffett has adopted that style of investing.

The best decision I ever made in my life was investing in financial market. Trust me guys, it pays a lot. I have come to realize that trading bitcoin is more profitable than holding it and waiting for it to skyrocket.

value investing is more important than ever. During those times i believe that great businesses with high margins and high free cash flow are the way to go. And here we get some nice chances right now. For example just made an analysis of alphabet and got a very interesting internal rate of return 🙏

Mr. Einhorn is super smart. If value investing is dead....how do you invest?
I think that as soon as the FED stops QE ..the value investors will start making money.....

Some capital from negative earnings companies will shift to those with good earnings. The money printed during 2020/2021 is still circulating in the system. US currency have increased inflow from foreign nations due to rate hike, some of them will flow into financial system too. It's possible to hit previous highs when situation gain some clarity.

Einhorn is smart. But this is too simplistic. There are a lot of us who do fundamental analysis. The market has ways to correct (the right) undervaluation. PE, buybacks and plain stock picking funds.

David Einhorn is a glorified gambler and a poker addict in disguise (well, not really cause he is quite public about his passion for poker). Time to retire. Value outperformed in 2023 and will continue to do so in a high interest rate environment. Only companies with true pricing power can survive in such harsh macro environment
